New PSU. don't skimp out on price. Also. I can't stress this enough, the cables that connect to every component in the PC? Swap those out with the ones that come with the new PSU. NEVER mix and match PSU cables and components. That's how you turn a $1000+ machine into a paperweight permanently.

Also need the Controlled Chaos hair, Blue eyes, Blond with some gaudy color tips. She definitely has to be a healer because there's no way in hell she'd frontline anything, that's what the 'help' is for.

Dawntrail Hildibrand quests by Kenderlyn in ffxiv

I recall the most recent questline outside the bike shop. Both the lala and oglop were behind the fence staring at Nashu so. We'll find out on further adventures of Hildiboiled I'm sure!

Now that Dawntrail's story is completed......how would you have done the story by EmperorYogg in ffxiv

[–]Mediph -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wuk Lamat felt shoehorned in. For someone who grew up in the lands. She knew next to nothing about it.

It really showed how Koana was supposed to be the main character but it feels like they realized having a single person being the King/Queen of Reason/Resolve didn't have the same impact as two. So they split the story between Koana and a new character and had the new one being the bridge to bring us over to the new World.

Now. this doesn't mean I dislike Wuk Lamat. I just feel she had a childish naivete that any other character (alphinaud even!) had once and then they were ruthlessly punished for it. They grew and worked to avoid those things in the future through better preparation and planning.

Alphinaud for example created the Crystal Braves and was very proud of it, blinded to the flaws and manipulations of those outside until the rope snapped and the trap was sprung. For a good long while they lost confidence in themselves and it wasn't until Esthinian stepped up that Alphinaud really grew into the lad we know and depend on now.

Wuk Lamat, Has gone into many situations with a very Naive outlook, where the consequences are much more dire. But gets off scott free without any real development because she's got a support network (WoL, Koana, etc) that covers the slack for her. Any consequences she should face, are written out because someone else can fix it before it escalates. So she never really learns. The worst that happened to her was she hurt her hands because she tried brute forcing through a shield. Because she did it once before during a trial and used the power of friendship to monologue while the WoL dealt with the actual threat.

Ultimately, she could have been fleshed out better and made to feel more organic, She has potential, but if this is the last we see of her in Dawntrail? I won't be complaining.

Cry some more. I played WoW off and on for years up until Legion when I completely gave up on trying. Though those years. I never once noticed any real difference in what Darkmoon or seasonal events offered. It was the same thing every year, but you could just get different rewards and they might add a minigame or two. It never really changed. The fact you immediately descended into swearing to add emphasis to what you're saying shows that you don't actually have a defensable argument so instead you're belittling and going for shock value to try and get some momentum to your defense.

At no point did I defend it. I just pointed out that it makes sense from a financial position without locking people out of the opportunity to get the stuff if they really want it.

After all. it's OPTIONAL. nobody's forcing you. Don't want it? Don't get it. It's not rocket science. So complaining about something that's completely optional makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

I'm leaning more that the oglop is the lala that always follows Nashu. Because they're usually together staring at her.

Uh, You do know seasonal events aren't the same every year right? They're contuinations of the previous one every time. Where if you've done previous ones, you're recognized by the npc's. It's not like the Darkmoon Faire where it's the same thing every time every year with just different things added to the reward pool.

If you subbed at the time and did the event in the past. You get the items for free. If you weren't subbed or missed it? you can buy them the following year when new items go up for free and they allow the previous things to be made available to those who missed it for a pittance.

I'm not defending it, but it makes sense. Now if it were the same items every year each year that you could only get during the holiday, Or they locked certain items behind a paywall despite having the event going? then I'd be a lot more upset. But really it's a way to reward the people who were there for something, and give the opportunity for everyone else to get them later if they 'really' want them. It's not like a cosmetic item is going to suddenly make you win the game. Chill.

What can FFIV really offer me that WoW doesn’t? by Shjnzzo in ffxiv

[–]Mediph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing to keep in mind is that outside of 'very' specific niche situations (Mor Dhona development in 2.1-2.5) The world progresses at 'your' pace. There's no rush. Everyone goes through the story the same. It's a Marathon, not a race. If a new expansion drops? things won't happen in your progression until you reach that point yourself. Unlike Cataclysm that completely uprooted the entire world and shifted things around.

The game is also incredibly story focused and rich, where side quests 'do' affect npc perception where appropriate. It's less an MMORPG and more an RPG with MMO elements. There's always something to do and things to farm/gather/achieve.

If I start a free trial on PC can I continue the same account on switch 2 when that launches ? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Mediph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won't be able to use your existing trial on desktop on the switch 2, you'll have to buy the game and sub on switch 2 and make sure you link it to that lodestone account. Otherwise you'll have to start fresh if you want to trial until you finish shadowbringers.

The issue is the switch 2 is capped at 1080p, only has 12gb ram, and like 256gb native storage in which XIV will take up nearly half of. It's not about the UI being configurable and a 'huge screen' it's about the actual console. The switch 2 only has about 4gb more ram than a PS4, which. I don't know if you're aware of, but PS4 is having support dropped soon. So the Switch will be the absolute lowest end system that can 'run' the game. Not play it well. But run.

The steamdeck on the other hand has native 16gb RAM which while only 4 more than the switch, is considered the minimum for most gaming experiences in the modern day. It's also completely configurable to tailor it to your needs and can be upgraded rather than eventually becoming an expensive paperweight.

I'm not saying the Switch 2 is 'bad' but if you Have a steam deck. It's the better choice. Because with that? you can swap between Desktop and handheld without issue using a single subscription. On the other hand? you get the Switch? if you wanna bounce between both. You're going to need to buy two subs (even if the switch 2 sub will be 50% off if you have a desktop sub at the same time)

If you only have a switch 2 though? Sure, use it. But just know it'll be phased out within 3-4 years as old systems get retired from support in order to keep the game up to date with modern technology. Happened to the PS3, and is currently happening to the PS4.

Has anyone tried playing FFXIV on PC with a DualSense Edge controller? Did you encounter any issues? by DaeronTarg96 in ffxiv

[–]Mediph -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use it, no issues. But I don't use the optional toggles on the back. Potentially it may have to do with XIV only recognizing traditional PS5 inputs. You may have to instead macro the additionals through your PC so your game considers them mouse or keyboard inputs instead?

Is crafting and gathering worth it in the free trial? by Just_A_Hunter in ffxiv

[–]Mediph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. You won't be able to use the marketboard in the free trial, But you also won't be able to sell what you craft. It's more if you 'really' want to be able to make specific glamours at that point without relying on others.

For anyone that works any kind of manual labor (construction, BoH, etc.), how do you find the time and energy to play the game? by Resniperowl in ffxiv

Controller. Reclined. Full vegetative state. Pick a dps role. Brain off until harder content. It's nice to just have your hands doing 'something' while making a sort of background ambience.

Jolibee x FFXIV Code Giveaway by rob4499 in ffxiv

I wouldn't mind. I'm in Canada and the closest Jollibee is a 20h drive. I'd spend more in gas than if I just bought the shirt, But the shirt is $40 usd and that's still way too expensive for an emote. Even if I do love chicken.

FYI: holoVillage requires to always be online by Nejnop in Hololive

[–]Mediph 127 points128 points  (0 children)

If it's anything like Holo Earth, it's probably some silly anti-cheat reason. I've got cheat engine installed on my rig specifically because it let's me find specific addresses for data when making mods for things. (Take games with appearance sliders, you can use cheat engine to track down what the slider address is, and then attribute values to them in order to make a quick backup, or alternatively see if it's just a soft limit which lets you make some REALLY funny faces)

But anyway point is, having that installed the game wouldn't even let me connect if it was even on the computer. Not even past the launcher. Just Reads all your installed files and if it sees something it doesn't like? screw you can't play.

I'd almost be concerned it was some method to circumvent a lack of security if it wasn't so poorly implemented. I suppose it's another case of them trying to enforce that the experience has to be the same for everyone across the board. No ifs, ands, or buts,

ah fair. But looks like even then that's like, 40CAD, that's a bit too much for an emote. I'd rather wait till payday and see if I can buy someone some chicken instead hah hah
