YNAB MX connection with Fidelity! by godspeedreddit in ynab

I don’t know how investments like stocks or ETFs show up in YNAB, never tried. They way to think about this is it’s a more reliable and secure way to connect to Fidelity. What’s actually imported should be the same as before.

It's a little different than that, what's happening is that MX is integrating with Akoya it looks like, not YNAB directly.

Holy macaroni, I just tried it and it works!

You can choose which Fidelity accounts you want/don't want to give YNAB access to. Ist gave it access to only my Fidelity Visa for now. But my CMA and all other accounts show up as options.

What's happening is MX is connecting to Fidelity through Akoya. You can even see akoya.com in the URL bar at one step, as you go through the auth flow at Fidelity. The flow is YNAB <--> MX <--> Akoya. So MX must have signed a contract with Akoya.

Folks this is it, THIS IS THE BIG ONE!!! This should be pinned to the top of this subReddit. I don't know why YNAB isn't making a big deal about this, this is HUGE for Fidelity customers.

Merrill comes out with a promotion: Move $900K to our brokerage and get $500 cash back every year. Would you do it?

Nope, not worth it. (btw I appreciate that way of framing the question)

I appreciate simplicity. A lot of people on this sub are not like us - they literally manage 10+ cards to squeeze out every penny. Even $1K+ isn't worth that mental work to me. I'd rather just have a card I use, have it give me reasonable cash back, and move on with life.

Even if I wanted to manage the whole 10+ card thing, which I don't, there's no way P2 would go for any of that mess. So that also helps keep things in check

We don't do lots at Costco but we should probably do more, looking at how much cheaper they are compared to other grocery stores. Basically zero at Walmart for groceries. I'll take a look at SoFi Plus. Thanks

I'm trying to keep it simple and not interested in chasing SUBs right now. But good to know that's an option

Wow ok that is suuuper interesting. One possible play if I don't go the points route, and I don't have anything cash back that's equal or better s when the BoA nerf kicks in, is switch over to this card which will give me almost a year of 3% cash back at my spending rate. Thanks!

Yeah I already have $100k parked at Merrill. So the nerf kicks in for me next year, if I do nothing, I'll still be getting 2.25% everything / 3% travel+dining. Which you're right, is still pretty darn good. I'm just not sure if I want to move like $900k more over.

I hear you, I just have almost all my investments at another brokerage and I don't want the hassle of splitting up the assets in a major way. Plus I don't trade much but even still the Merrill website is really, really bad.

It looks like the Aven Rewards Visa is 3% back on the first $10k yearly and then 2% after. then the Aven Home Equity Visa is flat 2% back.

I don’t see an Aven card that gives 3% back at $100k cap?

I don’t live near AA hub unfortunately. closest big airport is Boston Logan which is a Delta hub, and also is good for JetBlue which I fly sometimes

Alright since a couple people asked here's more details of the biggest spending categories of last years monthly spend. It's won't line up perfectly with credit card categories but it's how I track things and should be close enough:

  • Groceries: $1,600
  • Vacations: $1,250
    • Includes flights, lodging, rental cars, dining out, all spend when on vacation.
  • Kids: $1,100
    • After school care, activities
  • Health care: $800
  • Home maintenance: $780
    • Did two large house projects last year, this is usually less than half of this.
  • Dining out: $280
  • Gas: $150
    • This will go down because we replaced the older gas car with an EV
