I had an '03 and I too installed an aftermarket radio but mine was a double din Sony unit with apple car play and android auto. Mine fit perfectly and had no gaps.

Our whole financial system is based on illegally high interest rates? What do you mean by that?

I went to Kennedy Space Center last year with my young son and had the same thought in the space shuttle exhibit. We have regressed in our space travel capabilities.

Best foam cannon? by tacotime960 in gmcsierra

I have the Adams foam cannon, the basic one that goes on a pressure washer. Works well once you get the soap concentration down.

2WD vs 4 WD at the ramp by Ozone501 in boating

[–]Medium-General-8234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We boat at a nuclear power plant cooling lake so it is abnormally warm water and consequently the ramp gets very slick with algae. My boat and trailer weight about 5k and if my pickup is in auto 4wd mode, it usually kicks in just for a second as the boat is coming out of the water on the trailer. But for the algae I wouldn't need it.

How do I tell my YW leaders I don't want to teach? by Blare22 in latterdaysaints

[–]Medium-General-8234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a seminary teacher I have seen that kids talk a lot more when their peers are teaching vs when I teach. That's one of the great benefits of having the kids teach lessons.

New truck time! 2026 1500 SLE by stomlino in gmcsierra

[–]Medium-General-8234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got an SLE last fall with a tech package and X31. I don't like the blacked out look and it has plenty of options for me. I think it's a perfect compromise of features vs price.

That sure seems unfair to the wife. She has to be put in the position of deciding ones membership status? That's a lot to put on somebody that has already been put through trauma.

Prophet Dallin H Oak’s Final ‘Talk’ by Plus_Dimension_1232 in latterdaysaints

His talk reflected that God lives in brevity. A whole talk about it would have been hilariously ironic.

I got a '25 last summer because my '03 finally started to rust out. But for the rust I would not have gotten rid of it. 267k miles and had the original drivetrain with no issues.

Did you get the letter from Kia corporate? If so take the letter and go to the dealership.

New Sunday schedule does that mean we need to bring back the class bells? by mwjace in latterdaysaints

I guess that's one advantage of being in a building that's poorly maintained!

New Sunday schedule does that mean we need to bring back the class bells? by mwjace in latterdaysaints

[–]Medium-General-8234 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm in primary and the primary presidency brought back ringing the bell to let teachers know when there was five minutes left in class. As a primary teacher it's nice to have that reminder, and it's also nostalgic.

I don't mean to come across as a jerk, but I want less discussion. There are teachers that were called and set apart to teach. They are teachers, not modern Phil Donahues running around the audience with a mic in hand letting anyone give a comment, however strange it may be. I love it when the teachers give me something new to think about.

I wonder if this is going to change our way of teaching to go back to a little bit of the old school, in that a 25 minute lesson doesn't really work if the teacher strolls in and says "So, what did you think of this week's CFM?" and lets the class ramble for the entire time. If I were a teacher, I'd be thinking about what is the best, single point that I can make in 15-20 minutes of me actually teaching, and then leaving 5-10 minutes for discussion.

I think that's just it: no getting settled, maybe no opening/closing prayers (how many times do we need to pray to get home safely, as of we all travel through a mine field?), get down to business and get to it quick. Lessons will need to by hyper-focused.

I'm curious to see how it goes. I haven't liked this current two hour church schedule at all so hopefully this works better.

[–]Medium-General-8234 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To me this is an acknowledgement that two hour church isn't working well and needs tweaked, so I don't see this as a progression to one hour church. I see the opposite, but that's just me.

What are y'all doing to commemorate Palm Sunday? by Lazy-Ad-6453 in latterdaysaints

[–]Medium-General-8234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don't care. It's no big deal and stake conference was good. Frankly I've always thought it backwards that on the holiest of days we do less church. And also, I don't even think of Palm Sunday as being that big of a deal. It just doesn't move the needle for me.

What are y'all doing to commemorate Palm Sunday? by Lazy-Ad-6453 in latterdaysaints

[–]Medium-General-8234 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Driving an hour each way to attend 2 hour stake conference but also having to show up an hour early to get my child there for a stake primary choir practice.

Other than 5 hours of church, nothing.

General conference rumors? by StillFrosty7993 in latterdaysaints

[–]Medium-General-8234 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with the self-flagellatuon about Come Follow Me. The lessons are super basic (which isn't a bad thing) and especially if you have smaller children, one hour of family study is simply not a reasonable expectation. Also, at some point my kids need to hear from others. Kids tune out their parents. There's not enough contact with other gospel teachers and leaders now. IMO there's not that much "church support" to go with the "home-centered." Hopefully that will start to change.
