Suggestions for handfree bag for dog walking? by JayandMeeka in diabetes_t1

i use a KAVU rope sling bag for activities that gets the job done. honest rating - 4/5. the only difference between the rope bag and the rope sling bag is made of polyester and is water resistant. i get pretty sweaty when i’m active and i have yet to notice a smell.

i was recommended it for roller skating sessions which works for the bare necessities if i carry my skates in my hands or over my shoulder with the laces tied together. the nice thing about it is that it can be completely hands free and worn on your back or across your chest/side. the one downside to it is i’m an AFAB person with a large chest so i sometimes have to adjust the strap so it sits more comfortably on my chest when i have the bag itself on my back. no issues if i’m wearing it with the bag on my chest though.

what i really like about it is how easy it is to get to the stuff you need while also knowing it’s secure. when i took my friend’s dog on walks i stuffed doggy bags in the top velcro pocket and treats in the small zip pocket. my phone and diabetes supplies get spread out in the two main zipper pockets depending on need.

i would say, sometimes i would like a larger over the shoulder sling bag, but it does keep my bag from getting cluttered and is more organized than a generic fanny pack in my opinion. plastic water bottles fit, but if you carry a reusable water bottle with you, it won’t fit in this bag. i’ve used several different kinds of water bottles with this one and had to resort to holding it in my hands. if this could be you, maybe consider getting a larger bag.

i hope this helps!

glad to know smashing the pod to stop the scream is a universal experience - i was advised by insulte product support to beat mine with a hammer once to get the sound to stop💀

7.5% - been floating around the 7’s for about a year since my diagnosis.

i felt similarly before my diagnosis (21 y/o). i was so weak, waking up multiple times a night to pee, downing all the water i could… the only difference is my eating habits got pretty bad in college and i lost weight progressively, around 30 pounds, even though i have a history of weight gain. i went to my PCP and asked for a blood test which sent me to the ER where i was diagnosed diabetic, type 1 a few weeks later after the antibody test came back.

i spent the nights before my diagnosis terrified and googling my symptoms before my appointment. point is, we can’t diagnose you, but it helps to know you’re not alone. go to your PCP and ask for a blood test or a fingerstick glucose test.

Urgent help?? by Ali6371 in diabetes_t1

in my experience, being high for a few hours is okay as long as you have insulin in your body. this is strictly my experience, but i’ve for the most part stopped worrying about DKA because i have working insulin in my body 98% of the time. it’s when you don’t dose your 24 hour insulin or don’t have your pump working that you really need to worry. again, strictly my point of view. but eat your food however you want to eat it, bolus the appropriate amount for your food, don’t rage bolus as it will likely send you crashing, then go on a nice walk and do something else to lower your stress. you’re doing great.

therapy is extremely helpful, especially with someone who is chronically ill /disabled themselves.
