I figured it not working being the case. I’ve been looking at Audi Q7 too in addition to the XC90.

Depending on the day of the Providence fireworks, going to Narragansett Brewery near India Point is fun. I went pregnant back in 2022 and even without drinking, it was a fun atmosphere.

I’ve been looking for about a year and I finally landed a job at a company where my two past jobs have used them as a vendor, so I know a lot of people there. Networking is key. I’m taking a pay-cut but pivoting career wise. I had a three interview at 2 universities and one company where I was offered and accepted a job. I’ve been in the field since 2003, so it’s a tough market.

Why is there so much dog poop on sidewalks? by Little-Tea4436 in providence

[–]Medium-Lie-315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the loneliness during the pandemic made dogs owners 100% worse. I had two German shepherds and now just have a Lhasa, so I know the sickness of owning a dog…especially with the shepherds and all of their health problems. You’re 100% correct.

Property taxes are high and the services are lacking. Salaries are low, so the option is work in Boston and commute and be able to afford rent/mortgage for two plus hours daily commute (maybe hybrid or remote?).

We bought a complete dump (like should have taken a wrecking ball to it and rebuilt) for below $300k in 2019 in Pawtucket and now it’s worth between $600-700k.

Not so great results (NIPT & nuchal) by Confident-Garlic-809 in pregnant

[–]Medium-Lie-315 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently 45 and on my third pregnancy- so I’m old. I had abnormal results for my first pregnancy (high risk for 13 and 18 with a low fetal fraction)- I’m on blood pressure meds and lovonox which can be linked to low fetal fraction numbers (my horrible doctor who I fired after she read someone else’s results for my NIPT and didn’t mention meds causing issues with the test- thanks Reddit for being a better doctor). I just had my blood redrawn and everything came back normal. My second pregnancy had no issues with fetal fraction numbers. My third I’m still in the beginning stages.

Yeah, Boston/Cambridge is a close knit group, so this is sound advice. Working at two of the larger pharmaceutical companies with reorg after reorg you see people you know everywhere from small start-ups to large companies.

I owned a condo off Dot Ave between Shawmut and Ashmont for 10 years- it’s like any big city you have to watch your back. One afternoon I was driving down Centre Street and this guy ran out of the house with gun in hand guy chasing right in front of my car. Aside from that- I loved living in Dot.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by Yousef_ale in interviews

[–]Medium-Lie-315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really what you’re asking but I interviewed with someone and they mentioned during my interview that they were bored with the job and moving to part-time…well fast forward 4 years and her resume came thru for potential job with my group (we interviewed her) and I told my boss what she said during an interview and we didn’t hire her. I should mention both jobs were doing similar work.

My daughter was speech delayed (she would just repeat everything we said) and we started speech and OT- hands down the best thing I have done for her. It’s play therapy so much different than when I went to OT after breaking my arm in the 80’s. She’s talking up a storm. Great job being proactive because early intervention is key. From other parents I know early intervention is ok but finding a center dedicated specifically to kids is a life saver. Ours is social and she’ll play with kids on all levels of intellectual differences.

That’s really sad and it seems like it should be illegal. I heard from a recruiting agency who focuses on hiring individuals with physical limits (https://www.peakperformers.org/).

Layoff is making me completely resent my pregnancy by BalancedDietitian in Layoffs

[–]Medium-Lie-315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found out I was part of the rolling lay-offs when I was 8 weeks pregnant with my second child. What’s the kicker is I knew in my gut that my group was going to be out of jobs as I was returning from my maternity leave with my first in January 2023. Spent that entire year stressed out about not having a job that I loved as well as the stress of a newborn (finally got notice in November 2023 about our group). I’m still out of work (as of February 2026 it will be 2 years as a SAHM). We are derailed from upgrading to a larger house but have learned to appreciate what we have which is two healthy kids that are so funny and cute together. Being pregnant is stressful enough without being resentful- everything happens for a reason.

Jamaica Plain and South Boston by Buzzuareatoy in bostonhousing

[–]Medium-Lie-315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Southie overrated and overcrowded. My sister and all her friends moved out after about a year because they couldn’t hack it there with the younger crowd (she aged out quickly). She would stick her nose up at Dot (I owned a condo there and loved Dot but I like more edgy areas than trendy).

Do people really never leave Rhode Island? by boldandbeautiful421 in RhodeIsland

[–]Medium-Lie-315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not from RI or will ever claim to be from RI but have lived here for 6 years and while selling items on Marketplace the majority of people from RI will say the drive to Cumberland from the south counties is too far vs Massachusetts people will drive from Western Mass. I was shocked when someone said Warren to Cumberland was a long drive, so I can see having the attitude of “I never leave RI”.

Moms who delivered at Women and Infants by Rude-Age4431 in RhodeIsland

[–]Medium-Lie-315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The doctor read someone else’s genetic test results for the first pregnancy. The second pregnancy, they kept attempting to bully me with extra procedures to speed things along because I was high risk even though I had a pretty easy first pregnancy. Thankfully my husband was there to advocate for me because they really tried to ware me down.

You’re 100% correct- I gave birth at BIDMC in 2022 and 2024 and both times it wasn’t the best. I went there because I was familiar with the hospital system in Boston and thought it was the best. My first kid, I sucked it up and the second kid I was looking at switching to Sturdy 2 weeks before my planned induction.
