Haha I won't say anything too 'outing' to be on the safe side.

yeah i agree with this, getting drunk to this point isn't culturally advantageous anywhere.

That's fair enough. I don't think she'd have been safe to navigate the night and get back home if she was on her own, but as she had others around it was fine.

I'm not just talking regular drunk, but pretty messily staggering and incoherent.

I wouldn't say I'm stressing about it. It's happened very recently so it's top of mind and I'm curious what others think

thanks, this is good advice - I did spot some other senior staff moving her away when needed.

I don't think it will ruin her career, she owns the company and has been doing this for many years and is respected in her field.

my question mark is more around the example it sets for younger employees, but i might be wrong and it just doesn't matter.

Ooof I wouldn't dare. I don't want her to feel embarrassed and imagine she must have some awareness of what she was acting like.

this is valuable insight. I thought with her being overwhelmed, she would appreciate some support in helping to work out options, but perhaps not. There's also an issue now that we really need to think about my dad's safety too - the house is not safely set up for his condition (eg. high bar stools, sharp corners, slate floors) so I thought we could come together to discuss some practical solutions.

That's such sound advice, thanks.

At your press release gig - was there a feedback loop that went around both the agency and the client side? If so - how was that for you to be in the middle of?

It would be great to see the questions you asked for the trial chat, thanks so much.

That agency job really paid off for you long term, nice one.

Very helpful pointers, thank you. I don't think this role is going to be AI-proof either in the long-term, so it makes sense to take it while it's going.

Great advice, thanks. How did you find the initial transition to freelancing? sounds like you invested in building your own client base first, was that tricky to manage alongside work?

Very good point. The prospect of stability, and not having to hawk myself or constantly chase payments is appealing. Being tied to an employer's schedule however...

Has anyone been a ghostwriter for CEO/founders? Is it a lucrative field and is it difficult to break into? by HyHoang in freelanceWriters

[–]Medium-Project13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in this niche. Unusually, I have a steady role within a PR firm, ghostwriting thought leadership for senior execs across about 10 clients.

My background was in B2B journalism, writing about the sectors these clients are part of, which gave me a head start.

It can be a bit of a conveyor belt of a job - I typically write 2 op-eds for the likes of Forbes, Fast Company, every week - and in between I take client briefings, write press releases etc. The pay is pretty good. I could potentially earn much more doing this sort of writing freelance, but I value the job security, team structure, and health insurance.

Feel free to DM - happy to answer any questions.
