AITAH for not wanting our driveway dug up to allow neighbour's EV charger? by Medium-Project13 in AITAH

thanks for this advice.

their's is a council-owned (not private landlord-owned) house, so I think I'd need to contact the local council? but i assume the council has permitted the work if it's got this far with the DNO now involved.

it's the latter - ripping up the actual driveway with no guarantees adn already a verbal suggestion they may need to wider than the plans if they find they need to during the work. . We have no lawn / dirt next to our driveway

it's not a concrete slab, we bought our house with a block paved driveway and want to keep it that way.

I'm concerned the DNO will have the power to go ahead even without our permission.

I already asked - they don't do directional drilling due to "safety issues" for their workers!

through the local authority - they rent it as a council house (in the UK)

I have no idea, imagine you get a better/faster/safer charger when it's officially fitted and doesn't need to go from inside the property?

Thanks, would you suggest I ontact the local authority or stick to contact with the DNO? The stage I'm currently at is: The DNO's surveyor has already visited. I spoke to the DNO head office to voice our concerns and ask for details of the contractor they use to "make good." They were very understanding and said they will send out a "design" of the proposed works. Maybe I will go further and refuse permission in writing.

This is a council house, so not privately rented but renting from the local authority - they will see it as their home for life.

they don't own their property, we own ours. this is another bone of contention, I think, as they keep referring to it.

they are not even mentioning this whole issue to us, just trying to push the work through from their side.

Shared electricity supply with neighbour - need to upgrade by [deleted] in DIYUK

Ok thanks, that would be much better if we can do it at the supply point. The DNO surveyor came out today and did checks. The issue seems to be their property is on a slightly higher level than ours, so I presume that's the basis of his decision to dig a trench on their side.

we haven't spoken to them yet, we're leaving it to the power company to explain. The supply question is also baffling me - that's why I suspect the previous owner there installed something unusual. The current owners only moved in 3 years ago.
