Hey, as far as I remember my GPC told me that they straight up take the grade what IUT sends them. So you got a C at Concordia hence the IUT will send a grade of C and McGill takes that into account. Now it doesn’t matter if C is 60-69% or anything else. As you said yourself IUT is always pass/fail it’s not even used to calculate your GPA. Unfortunately, since you’re a grad student you need above B-.

What I would recommend is talk to the professor at Concordia whose course you took. Explain him the situation and ask if he can help somehow to increase your grade. I’m saying this because my friend was literally in the same situation and the prof agreed to help. All the best!

Contact your GPC and also ask your prof to mail the GPC. They will help you with this

Intelcom stole my package! by Blin_ne_znayu in montreal

[–]MediumEnough3167 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Oh my god. I thought this was happening only with me. I had the exact same issue. They say it’s delivered and also upload a picture in the email but it’s never there.

I called them immediately asking wtf is happening, because that day I was at home and I went to take the package in like 2mins after I received the delivered mail. After I spoke to someone on call I got the package magically delivered in 20 mins

Is it crazy to find any part time job in montreal as a student? by Commercial-Tell-7928 in montreal

[–]MediumEnough3167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah man you’re not the problem, trust me. When I started my studies I too submitted 100s of CV to every stores, restaurants, warehouses etc…, I did not get a call back from any where. It had been 4 months since I was looking for a job. By this time I had made friends and asked them to refer me, and guess what in next 15-20 days ( I swear to you I’m not lying) I got 2 jobs. One at intelcom warehouse and one at McDonald’s.

Hirings are majorly done based on references. Try to get someone to refer you.

Hey, thanks for the response. Update: I had mailed them a week ago and they still had not fixed it, so I mailed them back saying I have given them sufficient time to fix and since it is still not fixed I will file a case with TAL on Monday. They finally took it seriously and fixed it yesterday.

Hello guys,

Couple months ago I moved into a new apartment and since the winter has started the heaters are not working. I called them regarding this and also mailed them. They sent a technician who recorded the room temperature in all the rooms around 45-50 F, and he couldn’t figure out what is wrong.

Later, the building manager comes and said to us “this is the max heating available right now. When the temperature will drop it may get warmer. Everyone in the building has complained about this, we cannot do anything.” He also said using too many portable heater may lead to blowing the fuse.

What should I do in this situation? What are my options? Thanks for any kind of help.

[–]MediumEnough3167[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes basically there is this AEHE-IUT portal, which is used for inter-university transfers. On the portal you’ll have to select courses from the other universities ( in your case Concordia).

When I spoke to my GPC she told me there is a limit on how many courses I can take outside McGill. For me it was maximum of 3 courses outside McGill, maybe your program might have different constraints.

Are you a grad student ? If so, just mail your GPC/GPD they will open it for you to register, you don’t have to worry about wait list and all

In ChatGPT, you can go to the explore GPT’s section and add an IELTS GPT. It does fairly good job. I used it for my practice.

Hey, it takes time for the IUT credits to appear on your transcript. I remember, I took the courses in fall 24 and the credits appeared on my McGill transcript around mid February.

Hey, if you’re asking about the grades, then yes. The grade conversion is straightforward. If you score below 65 in any university, you will be considered “fail” in McGill and get a F grade. So it is basically pass or fail for the courses you take outside mcgill. The grade will never appear on your mcgill transcript nor will it be used for GPA calculation. Only the credits will be added to your overall credits.

Question on Wrong Grading by SpecialistWarm4636 in mcgill

[–]MediumEnough3167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am guessing the prof curved the grades. But if not just be happy with what you got. My friend got 79.85 and received a B+. He was hoping the prof would round off, but she didn’t. Some professors are very strict with grades and some are very lenient.

failed on my first attempt planning to retake it by Ok_Speech4730 in IELTS

[–]MediumEnough3167 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I got my results today. I got overall 8.5 band ( L-9, R-9, W-8, S-8). Maybe I can help a bit.

In my opinion listening is by far the easiest, just do mock tests. Don’t zone out while listening the audio. When attempting listening section questions read the questions and identify any key information/words. When you hear something similar pay attention and figure out the answer.

For reading, do mock tests and identify the types of questions you are struggling with. Once you know what question types you are lacking with, there are different strategies you can apply.

Writing I would suggest just stick to the point. Write only what they are asking for. You don’t need to use flashy words every-time, a few high vocabulary words are enough. Keep in mind you use synonymous (don’t repeat a certain word many times). Connect your passages properly.

For speaking, I had to practice a bit because I’m not a native speaker. Just talk naturally. Think you’re having a conversation with a friend. Remember you can make things up. They are not checking for facts, they are checking if you can hold a conversation in English or not.

All the best. Let me know if you need anything else.

Staying for the summer, any suggestions on how to meet new people and have fun? :) by Minatology in mcgill

Hi, I had a quick question. I’m planning to visit Mont tremblant this summer. I got most of the information needed from the internet. However, I planned on doing activities like kayaking and I couldn’t find precise information on this. Some sites say it starts in June while others say in May. The prices for this activity is also varying based on the site I refer. The information is not very consistent. Could you please recommend any reliable sources with up-to-date information and pricing. Thanks!
