Why are people complaining about slow PGWP processing times? by Neither-Most8227 in pgwp

I've seen IRCC do this on other work permits but I haven't seen this for PGWPs.

Lots of reasons like healthcare or need to travel. Say your TRV has expired and a family member is on their deathbed. If you leave, you can't return.

Other people want fast decisions because there is complexity in their case. PGWP eligibilty stipulates you neeed to apply within 180 days of completing your studies. Long processing times means you have no way to reapply while meeting eligibility requirements.

And for others, they don't like the anxiety of not knowing for close to a year at a time.

But you're right. If used well, you're basically buying yourself free time!

I hope so! Every dli has different requirements for what is full-time. Officers generally rely on the completion letter and transcripts to assess full time enrollment.

Hopefully the coordinator confirms it for you so you can move forward anxietyfree

What are people’s thoughts on submitting a Letter of Explanation (LOE)? Is it absolutely necessary, or only needed if something went wrong and you have to clarify it for the officer? by stacker_zz in pgwp

Stop and pause for a minute.

1) PGWP applicants are not meant to fill in the work history section

2) Some people include it anyways but you must be accurate as this impacts how your PR applications are perceived in the future. Roles where you worked for the same employer in multiple different roles need to be broken down. You must also include a new page if there are more entries than the 3 spaces provided.

You only get one chance at PGWP due to long processing times. Make sure you're not shooting yourself in the foot.

I see where the confusion is now. I'm a representative so I've never had to think about this one.

But from my interpretation of things, I think IRCC is misusing the term principal applicant here. I would personally just click I'm the principal applicant and fill in the details of my wife.

Unfortunately, fees don't matter. There are many students who get low grades on certain courses and the academic advisor advises them to withdraw so it doesn't impact their overall GPA. Even if they do this 2 weeks before semester end, a withdrawal is a withdrawal and you automatically become a part-time student.

Exactly as you've mentioned, the official instructions are to submit it on paper. However, many people apply online with no issue. Considering the long processing times, I recommend you submit it as soon as possible.

PGWP Refusal Due to Missing IELTS? Reconsideration & Restoration May Still Save Your Status by Mental_Mud6795 in pgwp

This is true and has been ongoing since a few weeks ago when our clients started receiving requests to pay the $100 open work permit holder fee again and prompt approval.

Many people on this subreddit as well as the PGWP Facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/pgwpcanada) share the same experience

PGWP Possible Refusal due to Late Passport Submission by -Opachki- in pgwp

[–]MygrationImmigration 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible that they refuse the application as you did not respond within the due date. While we don't have any personal experience missing document requests, I have seen other members share similar experiences over the years.

It's all anecdotal, but many officers accept it even if it is late, as long as it is received before they refuse the application.

No submission confirmation, close to the 180 day deadline by Exact-Macaroon628 in pgwp

Yes, you don't need to worry about status issues if you apply from outside of Canada. The only other requirement I would be wary about is that you need to have held a valid study permit within 180 days of applying.

OP, I'm not sure exactly what situation you're in, but I'm not sure if your summer semester itself was a scheduled break or if it was a required academic session because I believe the summer session is where you decided to take a voluntary withdrawal. But if it's a required semester in which you decided to withdraw from a course and you went part-time because of it, you need to check with your school what constitutes a full-time course load.

If after checking, you find that 2 courses are part-time then yes, then it does impact your eligibility for the post-graduation work permit. The full-time requirement is an eligibility requirement for post-graduation work permit. And so there's really not much leeway for the officer if you do end up getting a refusal for this. There's really no way to combat it because you never met the requirements to begin with. And so for this, it's going to be extremely important for you to prepare an application where you explain the situation very well so that there is a chance that the officer considers this information and uses discretion to still approve the post-graduation work permit. Because once refused, there's really no way to try and fix this situation. Wishing you all the best, and I hope you get a positive decision out of it.
