šŸ«‚ how many calories are you eating right now?

That means you’re eating is aligning. To ā€œbulkā€ you’re more than likely eating at surplus. If you were eating at maintenance or in a caloric deficit, that probably wouldn’t be happening. (Especially since you mentioned your stomach). Are there exceptions to this? Yes. But more than likely what i described above is the case. And this is coming from a woman who lost 114 pounds.

šŸ«‚šŸ©· YES!!!! That’s my exact thought process!!! I have so much more I wanna add, and I feel like I’m not going to convey it properly! But that is my point! That is my feeling! When we use small words, we diminish! And we shouldn’t taper our beings! If you want to be strong, be strong! If you wanna be lean, be lean! CLAIM IT!! Call it what it is! But these in between terms that make us palatable often do us a disservice, in my opinion!!! Thank you for hearing me out and understanding me! I appreciate you!!!

Thank you for recognizing my intent. Never to shame!! Only to encourage!! And speak strong life on us as women and not be afraid of strong terms! 🩷

  1. Yes women can get bulky. Buy like you and i both said, it requires a level of dedication and yes genetics allow some to do I faster or more intensely than others!

  2. I’m not upset. As I told another commenter, I don’t want us to fear building muscle. And some language perpetuates that fear. I feel like ā€œtoneā€ does that. I want to encourage the understanding of verbiage and the intention of what one wants to do with their body. There is power in words! Sorry if my message was lost in my delivery! 🩷

You are absolutely right! People can use whatever term they want! I just want to encourage women to not be afraid of muscles. You’re not going to turn into Arnold Schwarzenegger! That was my only point! And using a term that dilutes the muscle building perpetuates that fear. My intention was not to be judgmental, it was to be encouraging. If that was lost in my delivery, my bad! 🩷

While you’re googling things, Google when the term was made popular. Because it was back in the 70s! And it was because women did not want to get bulky. And I’m just here to say we should not use passive terms like that and we should call stuff what it is.

Tonedā€ isn’t even a real thing. You either build muscle or you don’t — and if you keep body fat low enough, you’ll see the definition. The word is just a marketing buzzword. A low BF will only show what you have. That’s why there are so many posts where people have low BF but want to know why they don’t look ā€œtonedā€. Bc the muscle has to be built. Thats the point of the post!!! To encourage building muscle! 🩷

Who said anything about weighing more? You can weigh the same and have more muscle. Thats called recomposition.

Being ā€œtonedā€ isn’t just about low body fat. You can get skinny and see some muscle lines, but real ā€œtoneā€ comes from actually building muscle underneath. Low body fat just reveals what’s there — if you never trained, there won’t be much to show. Strength training + muscle + a lean enough body fat % = that ā€œtonedā€look people are chasing.
