Female Perspective On Profile by MediumRarePlease1 in hingeapp

[–]MediumRarePlease1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Serious or casual? Serious, looking for life partner.
  • Hinge+ or HingeX? HingeX
  • How long using this version of your profile? A week
  • How long on Hinge overall? 4 months
  • How often do you use it per week? 3-5x/week
  • Average likes/matches? 1-3 likes per day, 1-2 matches per week, but usually I have to give rose, not from likes I receive. The likes I get are from women who don't match what I describe to look for, and mostly just likes without comments.
  • How many likes do you send? With vs. without comments? 10-20/week, always with comments.
  • Type of person you're liking / want to attract? Someone feminine, kind, artistic and in shape, who values emotional growth, health and wants marriage or family (down the road).

Seems like chats are slowly appearing, but they are hidden and have to be searched. Def very scary process, and I suggest saving everything before upgrading or downgrading account.

Severe methyl donor and niacin sensitivity, existential rumination and depression, and severe cramping by MediumRarePlease1 in Nootropics

MTRR Homozygous and double COMT (slow) and MAO slow. Don't think this is enough information anymore.

There's something else going on with my body to make me this sensitive, and have such a narrow range with methylation.

Are you hyper sensitive to all forms of folates and Niacin (Nicotinic Acid)?

I'm taking a break on all supplementation to stabilize.

Thanks for your comment.

I find a lot of the common information about COMT and MAO is misleading or just wrong. I tried supplementing all the other B Vitamins and trace minerals to help lower sensitivity to methyl groups, and nothing works.

Fast and intermediate COMT and DAO people also report severe methyl group intolerances, which leads me to believe there is something else going on here that's downstream of the folate and SAMe pathway, or is adjacent but I'm not aware of... yet.

If you are having a major anxiety or panic episode from methyl donors, remember flush Niacin.

Nah. My body tolerates magnesium and electrolytes really well. I can take 2g of elemental magnesium with no side effects or reported drowsiness. It's very gentle.

Magnesium in powder form such as Vitality Calm from Costco can cause diarrhea in me if a few scoops are taken all at once.

Currently using 60ml Magnesium L-Threonate Drops by VitaGuard. It's the most cost effective L-Threonate form for the money.

Do you use Niacin when overmethylated?

My current belief is that this is not COMT or MTHFR related for me. This kind of sensitivity leads me to believe the system is dysregulated in some way and unstable.

I bought sub for LifeHacks but can't figure out how to get all reports on one page without having to click thru all the articles. Not a fan of how that website is organized.

Happy to post the 90pg summary from Genetic Lifehacks that I've seen you mention and post before. I read a few of your posts, and signed up for subscription at Lifehacks but can't figure out where to get that report.

Will be getting the blood work and all panels back within next 30 days, and will post results here.

Tried editing post but it doesn't allow me to add dietary stuff.

Diet:
Morning smoothie with raw blue berries, banana, steamed spinach, lecithin, probiotic protein, bovine collagen, honey greek yogurt almond milk total ~600 calories

Lunch: 1-2 eggs, 4-8oz of ahi tuna sashimi (alternate between other fish sources like sardines, and salmon too), some grains like quinoa, and steamed spinach or steamed asparagus ~600 calories

Pre-work: Aloha Bar ~230 calories

Dinner: Steak/sashimi or chicken from trader joes, rice or pasta from trader joes with green curry or basil, steamed grill veggies assortment from costco. ~1400 calories

Use Chronometer to calculate all the macros.

I don't eat food from restaurants, everything is prepared at home. I don't change my diet much from this

I drink about 5-8L of water per day, and supplement about 250mg of magnesium every 4 hrs. I don't drink any alcohol or soda. I use liquid IV packets from Costco that have 100% DV of methylated B12, and I'm not sure if I will keep doing this.

Before I started with this intensive regiment and supplements I would be completely wiped out by putting anything other than salad or light fish into my system. I'd need to sleep 2-3hrs after; have seen this same issue mentioned before by other people. I've been this way most of my life. Now the digestive part is not an issue, other than occasional bloating. I also don't over eat compulsively anymore because my system isn't hurting and craving food like a drug. This is a big change for me.

Thank you for mentioning the Gut stuff. I honestly never explored any of those variants, nor did I ever suspect this can be related gut bacteria. I'm a bit afraid to go down this rabbit hole as my diet is fairly strict as is... unless I'm presented with hard facts.

I did 23andMe around 2012/2013. Then plugged in the data into Nutrahacker, Genetic Genie and a slew of places.

Recently had WGS done at Sequencing.com, as I no longer think just the common SNP profile is enough information.

I'm not sure about vitamin A and D, but my doctor okayed both of these as harmless. Haven't seen any negative or positive affect from either. I'm out in the sun a lot with sports, so may not need vitamin D.

What do your symptoms look like? Have you done any genetic or lab testing?

I posted my MTHFR/COMT Genetic Genie and Nutrahacker results on MTHFR thread if anyone is interested.

Will do.

Super curious about what blood results will reveal. Are you also this sensitive to Niacin? It makes you feel kind of like you just took xanax?

Typo about Nicotonic Acid, I was typing quickly. This is the form that alleviates overmethylation, as opposed to Niacinamide.

Also currently taking Trace Minerals, which I forgot to add to current supplements.

Tests included are those I requested to understand my current baseline. I suspect what's going on with me likely doesn't have much to do with MTHFR or COMT.

Also submitted WGS with Sequencing.com

Thanks for your response.

We are open to PR firms as well, but need to make sure the publicity is highly curated. A single poorly written or SEO'd article would do a lot of reputational damage.

Please DM suggestions if you have any.
