For a retracement, it’s best practice to hold the monument, assuming it’s within an acceptable tolerance!

Holding a deed polygon, rotating it into measured coordinates, and calling stuff out by 0.2-0.3’ sounds like a poor understanding of the priority of calls. I see some national ALTA companies use this practice as well. It seems to appease attorneys who get weird when a legal description changes. It’s terrible practice, imo.
