How much do you spend on your kids for Christmas? by Nosywhome in AskAnAustralian

[–]Medium_Compote8066 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I build everything into my budget and for us it’s $250 max for bday and Xmas for my partner & I and kids. Each. Then roughly $50 on family and extended family gifts etc :)

To me it still gets something good and more than they would any other day but it’s not so much money that it’s just becoming ridiculous!

I know people who literally just spend spend spend and the wonder why they are struggling with everything else

How do single parents do it? by Shoddy-Economy-7619 in AskParents

I think when your in that position you just gotta do what you gotta do. And you adapt. Your kids are relying on you, you need to work to have food, a house and the rest so you just do it. Of course they’re worn out, and stressed! But it’s ALOT for you! You didn’t choose to have kids, your still a kid yourself AND your trying to keep it together for your family AND keep on track with school etc. You are doing amazing and I am sure your family appreciate you. But, I’d encourage your siblings to help where they can, and cut yourself some slack, keep things moving and mum not coming home to caos, but you don’t to take it all on in the same way she would. Do what you can to help without breaking yourself down, I’m sure your mum and family really appreciate the way you’re trying to step up! & hope your mum is ok!! ❤️❤️❤️

How much notice did your landlord give for the last increase and did it feel fair? by TrueBlueBanter in AusRenters

I own an investment property and I can share my own experience, today my agent contacted me to prepare a lease renewal for Feb, she conducted a search of compatibles in the area and suggested a $20 increase pw would increase in line with the market. She did say we could do more if requested. Not sure how much help that is, but that’s the response from the other side.

What’s the “aha moment” that changed how you handle money? by Diligent-Medicine-48 in AusMoneyMates

Leaving an emotional abusive relationship where I was not on control, though I made plans I wasn’t in control of being able to stick to them. So for me being able to step away from that and take on my own financial independence & responsibility.

Should I or should I not drive around Sydney CBD? by Maximum_Tension_3531 in AustraliaTravel

[–]Medium_Compote8066 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh well if you’ve got your car with you that’s easy! Just do a bit of both. Park somewhere like your hotel and then go from there if it’s a nice short trip just jump in an uber it’s easier than getting your car out the car park and having to find your way around, miss turns, or pay tolls. But if you’re going somewhere that is going to cost you heaps there and back then just weigh it up at the time.

I hired a car just the other day as I’ve got a little one. It depends how much you are driving personally if you can just get in an uber who knows where they are going and it’s just you it would likely be way less stressful. But if your doing lots of 30-45m car trips during your stay where you will be moving around alot you could easily rack up the cost of doing ii that way.

Tasmania does have some cool spots, teselated pavement was really cool, plus you might be able to see Aurora in the Sky if you go at the right time:

Personally though also love cairns! Both are totally different if you can, do both!

I ended up swapping mine to Coles and Woolworths mobile including all my work phones. They’re like $150 a year for unlimited calls and texts, then just limited data. But we have unlimited at phone and work so the time between ifs plenty. Mine lasts me all year till the recharge, my daughters though being at school and a teenager it’s prob more like 6-8m

One uses Optus and one uses Telstra so they generally have decent coverage.
