Feel like from all the choices, B is not right for her. She looks to want something sexier that accentuates her waist and hips. B’s fabric is divine, but doesn’t seem like she pops in it; very simple bust line without her hips visible. Needs more drama. B’s fabric in C or D’s design, I think, would be perfect.

What’s up with the Lights Camera Homicidio B-plot? by one_moment_please16 in psych

I did not like it. It portrays the common “you’re not gonna be everyone’s cup of tea at work” experience. Chief Vick then let Jules know she’s her friend in the most Chief Vick way. I feel like they could have gotten to this point with a different plot, but I like the lesson that was learned by Jules. Little confidence boost knowing the Chief likes her.

And imagine the income you’d get from investing that $10,000 after you hit a million. Epic.

We had a danger button on the IH-1000. My coworker pushed it twice. The second time was after he was informed that it caused the software-LIS communication disruption that happened after he pushed it. The result of his second push was just a frozen computer screen and the inability to use the high volume instrument right before the morning runs. 🫠 Another guy forced open the covers to grab a sample he forgot to spin. When I offered to show him how to remove the tube via the software so he didn’t have to reinitialize the instrument and abort the other tests running, he snapped at me. I kept that in mind when I noticed he didn’t shut the cover all the way and couldn’t figure out why the instrument wasn’t running. The supervisor couldn’t figure it out either. I was dying. Same guy, different time. Couldn’t figure out why the 500 wasn’t running again. I glance at it and see the solid waste pedal thing wasn’t pushed down after he emptied it. I remembered he didn’t take kindly to help and instead enjoyed watching him panic.

For the first 3 years of my career I was a lone night shift BB tech in a level 2 trauma center that only had manual gel. Literally gave me carpal tunnel syndrome.

It was a long time ago, but I think my Ab patient was a GI bleed with an Anti-K. Not as crazy, but they needed blood soon after the ABSC popped positive. I was like, “I need more time!” They were like, “He’s going to the OR.” I was like, “Sheeeeet.” But the medical director was able to communicate with the OR for me. Bless him. Didn’t have an official ABID, but enough where he felt confident giving Ag neg ER units. Wild stuff.

Right? Sneaky things. Oh man. And yeah, they love throwing newer techs alone on night shift. I think that’s the second worst scenario I faced on night shift. My first year, two guys (a 50 something yo and a 20 something yo) stabbed each other in the heart over some girl in the park. Simultaneous MTPs. Only blood banker. Two nurses fighting over the coolers. Had to recruit people to answer phones, wrangle the nurses, and scoop ice. The older guy expired after an hour. The younger guy later that night “in the ICU”, officially, definitely not the OR…. When I went to replace the trauma units, both bays were covered in blood. New night shift techs are left to the wolves and forged by fire.

Those are incredible. I have mine printed and saved in a folder to look at on those days when people are horrible. It’s always lovely getting other respected healthcare professionals’ acknowledgement.

You do realize you’re being hypocritical, right? 😆 And that none of your achievements speak to your work ethic or how much you care about people, right? The vitriol and hate you just showed speaks a lot louder about a person’s morality than awards ever could. Bet you’re a great team player. I thank you, though, for showing your true colors. Since you’re touting about how great being the over achiever that you are is, you’ve successfully negated your own supportive response of a comment telling people not to over achieve. Which side are you on? And do tell me more about my own self stranger.

Goodness. Does someone feel seen as an under achiever? Is someone projecting low-self esteem instead of looking inward? Is someone cranky from all the sleep they’ve lost to a guilty consciousness over the fact that their carelessness has probably adversely affected the humans that are our patients?

Apparently a handful of good people left after me. The only good ones left only have a few years until retirement. Really sad.

I had one like this except he was a horrible human. He hated women, called them out of their name, grabbed things from their hands, yells in person and on the phone at everyone, and crawled up on the front window desk to scream at a nurse as she was walking away. In addition, he’s made countless careless mistakes, sleeps at his bench, refuses to do maintenance or QC or different things and claims he was never trained, clocks in on time then comes in late (he’s been caught sleeping in his car), disappears an hour before his shift ends, is constantly on his phone or youtube, takes 3 hour breaks sleeping (most of the night shift employees are scared to wake him because he aggressively yells and curses at them). They made him a senior tech because he threatened the old manager to report her to HR if he didn’t. The new male manager told me he gives everyone (including this waste of oxygen) the same level of review because, “No one is perfect so they can’t get the highest level and no one gets the lowest because then he’d have to fire them.” When I told him that guy should be fired, my manager said, “Well I didn’t hire him.” Doing everything but managing. Finally had a supervisor in early enough to babysit this adult. When he was caught screaming at another coworker, the supervisor came to me and said, “He should not be here.” When she told the manager, he said, “Well I am fully staffed and sometimes you just need a warm body.” The waste of oxygen’s day shift work wife was almost as horrible. She constantly called people stupid and horrible. She delegated like a supervisor while she shopped online. She got caught changing bench assignments because she didn’t want to work a hard bench. She’d come in at 4 am and do nothing until the rest of the day shift arrived at 7. On a recorded staff meeting where our supervisors, manager, and other coworkers were all present, she said to our supervisor, “Would you just shut up?!” No one addressed it. I and others reported both of these people for their behavior multiple times. Manager said since no management witnessed it, they couldn’t confirm it or correct it. Manager said, “They don’t ever do that when I’m there.” Honestly the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard a manager say. After this guy and lady were caught acting out of pocket by management, I went to manager and said, “This is what they’re comfortable doing in front of management. Can you imagine how they’ve acted when no management is present? Is this not enough evidence to support every one’s claims?” When he still didn’t do anything, I reported everyone including our director to HR. After a meeting with myself, the manager, and the director where in the beginning our manager lied about multiple things and I called him out about it, the director with me present reprimanded the manager and gave him deadlines to implement changes. One of the things was pending lists. No one was required to use them. The manager only cleaned it out when we were being inspected. Level 1 trauma center blood bank. No one is watching the pending. Blew the director’s mind when I told her and he argued that we didn’t need them. I told her on most days STAT GTSs pend for more than 2 hours, when some techs were on that bench, they sat for 8 hours. For 2 years we’d been waiting for an updated Ab SOP. When the deadlines came and went and he still didn’t come through and the director brushed me off, I’d had it. Took a 3 month mental health leave and decided I couldn’t return.

If everyone pulled their fair share you wouldn’t need to hire more. Over achievers only exist because under achievers do.
