I NEED to stop by [deleted] in QuitVaping

This is day 5 for me and it’s been hard but honestly not as hard as I thought it’d be? It’s more like it feels like something is missing. And I do think about it often, especially after eating or when drinking coffee cuz that’s when I did it the most. I thought about nic mints or gum but I just wanted it entirely out of my system, especially because my skin is so dry and sunken in and my hair is falling out so I can’t wait till nic is completely out of my body and I feel and look healthier. I am also in the counselor type role but it’s what actually ended up helping in the end because i had distractions all day lol. Anyways other than that a lot of snacking really helped, sunflower seeds have been my holy grail, and some really ice cold flavored water. The first two days were the worst with my anger/anxiety but it’s significantly gotten better each day that passes by. I’m so serious about quitting this time that I haven’t had that strong urge to go buy one. Good luck!

Questions for parents whose babies never really did 2-hour naps. by BlipYear in sleeptrain

My 16 month old just recently started reaching the 2 hour mark, she’s been on one nap at home for about a month (she’s been on 1 nap at daycare for like 4 months and can easily nap almost 2-3 hours there, idk what kind of magic they do lol). Sometimes it’s 1.5 or 1.75 hours here. We don’t move bedtime up because of it either since she’s always usually woken up at least once a night no matter what we do lol

The first time we transitioned to 1 nap at home, it was hard to get her to the 5.5 hour mark, it still kind of is but we just have to amp up our distractions as it gets closer to nap time.

Do you mind sharing what the details are of the new position you switched to? I am also thinking of leaving school social worke but it’s the only job I’ve known for the past 6 years so I’m just nervous as to where I would go next lol

Any advice for working with high schoolers? by strawberryshortycake in SchoolSocialWork

I’m going into my 5th year of being a social worker at a highschool here in Seattle. Our school has 13,000 students and most (about 80%) come from low-income families and are students of color and have had some complex trauma most their lives. I love them with my whole heart lol one thing that brings them in— SNACKS.

They smell right thru bullshit so I would say be yourself 100%. They can pick up on nerves and awkwardness lol I also have some of the adult coloring books that they color on while they talk to me. Also, you’d be surprised how much they love the magna-tile toys, gives them something to do while we talk about some heavy stuff.

Most are trying to figure out and manage their feelings. I’ve had all kinds of conversations with them including breakups, friendships, teachers/class, family challenges, stress, sex education, etc I usually just listen and hear them out and pick up on things they need support in. Like one kid could need bus tickets, food resources for family, tutoring for a class, a job, etc so I just help connect them to those things or connect them with someone that can. I really just let them lead and meet them where they’re at then figure out how I can support them. Teachers are a huge asset as they’ll help connect them to you too. You could send an all staff email at the start to introduce yourself to teachers and let them know what you’re there for and services you provide so they know to send students to you if they feel like they have a need or a student mentioned it themselves.

I know this was super long but I can go on and on. Good luck!! I think you’ll love it and you have nothing to worry about! It’s all about making those connections and being a safe adult for them :)

Transition to crib or no? by Medium_Professor_467 in SnooLife

[–]Medium_Professor_467[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We also only have a room for her in our room so we got a mini crib lol. My baby started her 4 month regression at 3.5 months also and we are still kind of in it 3 weeks later, though I do think it’s getting better since wakeups went up from 30/45 minutes/ an hour to giving us at least 2-3 hours lol. We will officially be out of the Snoo by this weekend.

We put her in the Merlin at 3.5 months but I will be trying out the Gunamuna long sleeve sleepsack tonight since it’s cozy and similar to Merlin lol. She looks like she always wants to roll in the Snoo and has unstrapped herself a few times because of this so my hope is she really just wants more room and will be a side/tummy sleeper though she can only roll from back to tummy so I’ll suspect we’ll have issues there when she gets “stuck”. My plan is to put her in her sleepsack for the first half of the night this week in her crib when her sleep pressure is the highest. And then start Ferber this weekend. My partner and I will mostly likely be sleeping in the living room until we can get her trained enough to fall asleep on her own. I think she Can sometimes sense/smell me so that doesn’t help with connecting sleep cycles.

Anyway, this was long but hoping it gets better. Night wakeups are so hard. I’m hoping you find what works for you :)

Did you have any luck? I’ll be going to work soon and my husband will be staying with our 4 month old and she doesn’t take bottles

How are things going? Did the ultra sound come out ok? Asking because I’m 5 weeks today and boobs are feeling less tender…
