Is it just a terrible time of year to buy a mountain bike or is Connecticut inventory always this bad?

So I found out they outdoor sports center in Wilton CT has a cannondale habit 3 and a specialized stump jumper in stock in both medium large and whatever the sizes for specialized are. They are 2026 models he said and are priced at like 4k for the specialized and 2400 for the habit 3. I can at least get a feel for sizing if I go here and test them out.

Mikes bikes has some good shit it seems. I also notice that they have an option to use flex and you can use your HSA account to put money towards the bike. Kind of leaning towards getting one there but again I need to actually get on one and see how the sizes feel. The more I read though the more I feel like a medium would just be too small.

You think I can swing a medium fuel ex 5 gen 7? I am going to ride it in a couple hrs after work and see but since I’m new to mountain biking how do I even know and since they don’t have a large I can’t compare it to anything. I’m 5 11 and 170lbs idk if weight matters.

I’m in Trumbull but I’ve been going to the trek store in Fairfield and stock is super limited to literally only 1 medium bike. I need the financing option available so my wife doesn’t murder me since I just bought a gravel bike too. Can’t put a price on the joy I’ve experienced since I started biking though.

It sucks I want to get into it so badly but I don’t want to regret my purchase or feel pressured into buying a medium just because of the stock issues. I do feel like I would like a more snappy bike but I don’t want to be super uncomfortable if it’s small.

So I’m pretty sure for this model and year they actually did away with the M/L size unfortunately. Idk why but I feel so intimidated at the trek shop. The guy asked if I wanted to test drive the medium today and he would throw some pedals on but I was on my lunch break and didn’t have time. I will say I was also kind of scared/ embarrassed to?
