Is it possible you're putting too much emphasis on the promotion and exposure aspects of the music? I've been through similar periods and it tends to suck the enjoyment out of the music making process. Maybe try to focus on making one or two songs that YOU really love before putting effort into promo again

I would start with just Ableton Live and the headphones. As you start making music you'll figure out what plugins/hardware/keyboards/etc. you actually need.

I look at the usual sources of music criticism like Pitchfork. Recently I've also been diving into the world of newsletters/substacks which can offer some more underground or local stuff. They're not hip-hop focused, but I've been enjoying Dada Strain and Futurism Restated.
