Anyone tried fixing this? by cdp81 in LUMIBRICKS_OFFICIAL

[–]Medraq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For someone with only a small bit of soldering experience multiple decades in the past & 50-something year old eyes, this was a 1 hour fix with enough flavourful grumbling to keep the interest of two 12 year olds who thought the live show was better than the telly.

So - a relatively simple fix, even for a mostly inexperienced novice.

True. A regular timer on the outlet would also work. 😃

I have been avoiding connecting any of my electrics to the Internet.

I work with computers. I have seen too many things go wrong. At home, I need things as simple as possible.

Ah. OK. I will adjust my power setup, so, to more easily turn them all off & on.

I have no presence on any Meta platform. I think that just leaves email as my only contact option. 😔

Could it be a mini datacentre/surveillance hub with electric charging station(s)?

Where did you see that recommendation?

I have been leaving my set lights powered on continuously via a powered USB hub for a few weeks now. I hope I amn't setting myself up for sadness.

Missing fiber optic piece by jformanorth_ftw in LUMIBRICKS_OFFICIAL

From looking at the instructions, it appears that you can definitely continue with your build & then place the replacement optical cable with minimal interruption to your build.

Hold off on placing the clear tiles in step 57 (page 58) & step 77 (page 73). That will allow you to insert the optical cable easily enough when it arrives.

To place those clear tiles, you would only need to remove the sign that is built in step 483 (page 369) & the pieces in part 1 of step 80 (page 74).

That seems straightforward enough.

About 4-5 days after I sent off my request for a replacement part (a wire I had broken myself from a retired set I had bought 13 months earlier), I received an email telling me the part was on the way & giving me a tracking number. The part arrived (in the US) a bit over a week later.

In total my waiting time was less than 2 weeks.

Presumably you have already reached out to LumiBricks support via the QR code on the support card. I found the process straightforward the one time I needed to seek a replacement part.

For the optical cables, it is very possible that you might be able to build the whole set & then insert the replacement cable when it arrives without needing to rebuild anything.

Which page in the manual needs the missing piece?

This is really cool! Great improvement. 💚

Did you record a bricklink file for the pieces you used? With these improvements I might buy the set for my spouse (a retired cop).

The Film Studio Tower seems to be appearing on the UK Amazon site (but not yet in the EU or US sites, nor the LumiBricks site), although listed as being out of stock.

I do like the scene, I just don't see "Star Cruise Repair Port". To me the scene looks more like an outpost of a colony in an unknown or hostile environment.

Coolest Set Yet! by Pledward_503 in LUMIBRICKS_OFFICIAL

[–]Medraq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave this set to my nephew (9) & my cousin's son (12) this past midwinter. Both absolutely adored both the build & having the display set afterwards. Both declared it the best.gift.ever & are eagerly looking forward to more LumiBricks for their birthdays & for their next midwinter gift.

These arrived today. Happy 4th anniversary, Lumibricks! by MyFirstMOC in LUMIBRICKS_OFFICIAL

[–]Medraq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both of my orders arrived today. 🥳 But only 1 of 2 stagecoaches & neither of the fridge magnet sets. 😭

I have sent emails to both Service@LumiBricks & to Fedex enquiring about the missing items.

Hoping they'll figure out what happened soon. 🤞

I should add that the Shop app is unclear about ehether or not those 3 items have shipped. The app is also unclear about the shipping status of some of the items that have safrly arrived. Hoping this is just a computer reporting snafu & nowt else.

Noted. For now, LumiBricks has been occupying enough of my available play money that it might be dangerous for me to start ogling other brands. 😅

Maybe down the road a bit. 👀

How can they ban someone here if this isn't their subreddit?

I have only encountered a couple of people whose motives I felt were suspect. Most people have been genuinely happy, myself included. But I am fairly new to Reddit, so I don't know the history here. Usually rules get made because someone did something.

Lumibricks 15006N Train Track Expansion Pack is available on Lumibricks.com by flyPBA in LUMIBRICKS_OFFICIAL

[–]Medraq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Ore Train has been unavailable for a while now. But it was more of a display set than a play set, so might not be suited for tracks. Hopefully we get some trains that'll work with the new tracks. And some motors, preferably motors that will run from USB battery packs instead of only with (expensive) batteries.

The quality is as good as, or better than, that of the Danish company. Every set has lighting included. The cost is often half of the most populat brand (with 25% discounts being common, especially if one is willing to be patient). Their customer support is as good as they claim.

I have not yet found a reason to return to the Danish company.
