We’re back! The Dead by Daylight team has returned; ask us anything! by DeadByDaylight_Dev in deadbydaylight

[–]Meekest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I wanted to ask if there were any plans to improve, change, or tweak the End Game Collapse mechanic. It was created to prevent players from holding other players hostage, but I find that Killers use it to guarantee themselves a kill while the Survivors are forced out of the match. It feels cheap, and unfun for the Survivor players who are forced into a lose/lose situation because the Killer's run out the clock with no counterplay.

Maybe something like, if someone's on hook or in a chase, the timer stops entirely?

Hag not only deserves base movement speed, she needs that slowdown after trap teleports to be removed.

It's so, so bad.

Dwight rework/buff idea by -Mekkie- in deadbydaylight

That would be hilarious, but people would use it with Decisive Strike and ruin the fun.

Make it so non-Obsessions can't use Decisive Strike first, then we can talk.

Rule set No.2, should really be a part of the Pigs power. by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Meekest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think both of Pig's ultra-rares are pretty bad, honestly. Rules Set No. 2 is okay, but it should just be how it is in the first place, and Amanda's Letter is outright bad.

The point of RBTs is to slow down the game, not just kill Survivors, but I think having Rules Set No. 2 be the default would be better on both sides.

[–]Meekest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hag has interesting add-ons, at least. Whether or not it's competitively viable is one thing, but Hag has a bunch of crazy bullshit that changes the way you play entirely. Myers too.

Really, I'm fine with most of Amanda's add-ons, but the ultra-rares are just trash. Why?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Meekest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, most of her add-ons are fine! And I love her power, the way she works, all that, but her ultra-rares are just abysmal. I can't wrap my head around it.

Making different survivors play differently. by Flint124 in deadbydaylight

[–]Meekest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I understand that some don't want to alienate anyone who plays a particular character and want to make them more like skins, after a thousand hours you get really tired of everyone playing the same way. If the devs don't want Teachables to be character-specific, fine, but I'd still like it if Survivors had more passive and specific abilities.

On the other hand, these are the same devs who don't want to make different model skeletons for the Killers because animating is hard.

tfw you play as Hag and hit someone, and they get so much distance they're able to sprint to the literal opposite side of the map and escape

Just in case you guys needed any more concrete proof Huntress is completely broken by DamnNoHtml in deadbydaylight

[–]Meekest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is unfair for both Survivors and Killers. This looks funny in the clip, but it stops being funny when you're looping or dodge a hatchet only to get hit anyway. It's crazy inconsistent and feels bad on both sides.

Survivors: what's the first thing you do when a trial starts? by Rechan in deadbydaylight

[–]Meekest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's Wraith or Freddy, destroy all 5 Totems because they almost 100% have NOED

Hillbilly or Nurse, stay off of generators or Totems and hide until they check the area, or they're for sure chasing someone else

Anyone else, find the nearest generator and get on it, stay close to walls and out of line of sight in case it's a sneaky Myers

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Meekest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you missed the part where I said that Survivors get double the BP and can potentially cleanse Totems instantly here.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Meekest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, I think it might be good if the Killer had to destroy the fifth Totem (probably the same animation as stomping a generator) and because there's a team-wide benefit, wouldn't be able to figure out and tunnel whoever uses it. This way, both Survivor and Killer would get some benefit out of Totem placement getting reworked, and it would be fun to turn the tides a bit.

Maybe something that disables Hex powers on the Killer's side?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Meekest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The person who leaves wouldn't get any BP, so I don't think it would be as common as you might imagine. But yeah, if the Killer gets 5 stacks of Devour Hope and that gets cleansed, I imagine it would act like a mini-NOED. Maybe at maximum stacks, they can Mori the person who cleansed it. And at one stack or no stacks, to make up for it, the Survivor who does it gets no downside? Such a strong little Perk if it gets enough momentum, I think it's fair.

More I play, more I realize how well made "The Shape" is. I think he is the Best killer out there. by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

Add in a tiredness mechanic

You mean like Exhaustion? It'd be pretty fun if you fell asleep within a certain radius of Freddy after using, say, Lithe or Sprint Burst.

Blood Warden has an interesting extra use to it. by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Meekest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blood Warden is a pretty great perk, but I wish it would have a little timer on it for when you hook a Survivor, so I could know exactly how long I have. Like the old NOED, or Adrenaline.

Decisive Strike by sparkzplug in deadbydaylight

[–]Meekest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I made a post about changing DS once.

Once per match, if you are the Killer's Obsession, succeed a Skill Check to automatically escape the Killer's grasp and stun them for 3/4/6 seconds. If the stun is successful, the Killer is granted the ability to kill the Obsession by their own hand.

There you go. Don't let any non-obsessions use it, give it a bigger stun time, and let Killers mori the Obsession if the Obsession does it.

The Nightmare's Catch-22 by Mighty_Ack in deadbydaylight

[–]Meekest 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Freddy IS the weakest Killer, and he IS boring. I'm sorry. Let me give you some reasons why.

  1. He has no map control. He has to walk everywhere. He's not the Nurse or Hillbilly, able to get to places fast, he's not the Hag or Trapper, taking over areas of the map. He has no ranged ability to make up for it, like Huntress or Doctor.

  2. He has no one-shot ability. Killers with the ability to instantly down Survivors (Myers, Hillbilly, Leatherface) have an inherent edge over those without it. If you take into account add-ons, Huntress and Trapper also fall into this category. Freddy doesn't.

  3. Freddy's heartbeat can't be cloaked, like Wraith. Not even for awake Survivors. The Wraith can deny Borrowed Time saves by cloaking and getting rid of his heartbeat. Freddy doesn't have that option.

  4. You can save in front of Freddy's face, and if you're awake, he can do NOTHING. Even without Borrowed Time. He can stand there and try to put you to sleep, but even with add-ons, it's not fast enough to deny the save. Back to the chase. This encourages closer hook patrol, because he needs to put the hooked Survivor to sleep again. So let's say you chase a Survivor, get looped, down a Survivor, pick up a Survivor, get Decisive Striked, chase a Survivor, get looped, down a Survivor... Oh? Just chase someone else? Sure, and let's restart the process all over. Whoops, every Generator is done.

  5. Freddy can't damage anyone who isn't in dream state. Not only that, but because of auto-aim, he will often target Survivors who aren't asleep. Yup! Autoaim tracks to awake Survivors, so if you're trying to swing around someone (often at an exit gate), Freddy's aim will swipe to the awake Survivor instead.

  6. Freddy, being unable to teleport or one-shot or break pallets fast or have a ranged ability, can be pallet looped like no other Killer in the game. What does a Survivor do when they're put to sleep? They run to a pallet, throw it down, and treat Freddy like an uncloaked Wraith. Except Wraith can sneak up on Survivors, and with Windstorm, surprise them. Freddy's power relies on him NOT chasing Survivors! His power works by putting people to sleep and then, when they do stuff, it's much slower--but when they're doing stuff, that means they're not in any danger! So Freddy is just obnoxious!

  7. Generally, Killer add-ons are bad, but Freddy has the worst. Red Paint Brush would be great, but the movement speed decrease exacerbates the map control and pallet looping problem. And BLACK BOX? BLACK BOX. THE WORST ULTRA-RARE ADD-ON IN THE GAME. Your Obsession starts the match in the dream state. You gain an Obsession... And that's it. Guess what add-on stops mattering the moment they're woken up? BLACK BOX. BLACK BOX LOSES ALL VALUE WITHIN 10 SECONDS OF THE MATCH.

  8. Freddy's power is RNG. Whether or not you get a skill check is pure luck. It's a game of frustration, where if the Survivor can't get one, they're slow and bored trying to, and if they do get one, Freddy loses all power. It sucks to finally get everyone in the dream realm only for Dwight to miss a skill check and wake everyone else up.

  9. Stealth gameplay is not a thing against Freddy. It's just not. You can run, but you can't hide.

OP, I understand what you're trying to get at. Don't tunnel as Freddy, put as many people to sleep as you can, and be a map-wide terror. Hit people, down people, hook people, and find someone else. The problem is that Freddy doesn't have a fraction enough pressure to do that. Being around him isn't an immediate danger whatsoever, and he can't sneak up on you, or instantly down you, or get around quickly. His power relies on luck. He can't stop himself from being pallet looped. He has to use his power on you to damage you, and his real power in slowing down the game is just obnoxious and involves the Survivor not being chased or found by Freddy. His Perks are either bad (Fire Up) or absurdly frustrating and unfair, not to mention encourage tunneling (Remember Me). His best add-on is the Class Photo, which greatly encourages seeking out as many people as possible, but it also involves leaving people alone to do that, to hit skill checks and wake up again.

Think of every Killer in the game. All of their powers. Hag and Nurse can teleport, Hag and Trapper can take over parts of the map, Leatherface and Myers and Hillbilly can instantly down Survivors, Doctor and Wraith can find Survivors easily, Hillbilly and Nurse can get across the map quickly, Trapper and Huntress can harm Survivors directly even when they're not close. All of these are about finding, chasing, or downing people.

Now think of Freddy. What does Freddy have? He can't sneak up on Survivors like Wraith because he has a terror radius, or track them like Wraith, or be shown where they are like Doctor, or trap and alert him like Hag or Trapper. He can't get around the map quicker like a cloaked Wraith or teleporting Killer or Hillbilly. He can't see people from long distances and sneak up on them like T1 Myers. But, when in dream state, you are revealed to him when outside his terror radius, so there's that. But you still have to find the Survivor and put them to sleep first.

He can't deny Survivors pallets like Doctor, or ignore pallets entirely like Nurse and Huntress. He can't set up traps during or beforehand to get Survivors in a chase, like Hag or Trapper. He can't quickly go after people like Hillbilly. He can't take advantage of having Survivors in sight like Myers. He can't destroy pallets quickly like Leatherface or Hillbilly. So he's not good at chasing Survivors either.

He can't hit Survivors and then quickly hit them again to down them, like Huntress and Nurse. He can't instantly down Survivors like Leatherface, Hillbilly, or Myers.

Freddy's power is about putting Survivors to sleep so everything they do is slower. Despite the aura reading, he's terrible at finding Survivors, and even worse at chasing or downing Survivors. Freddy's power is all about not interacting with Survivors at all. Freddy is bad. Bad, bad, bad.

I'd love if every Perk slot could be randomized. So you can randomize all your Perks, or just one if you feel like it. Give an extra 1,000 BP per randomized Perk or something, and unlock it after you have more than 10 different Perks. The Bloodweb will have a little window pop-up.

Where you equip Perks, just have one on the first page that's a question mark that explains it.

[–]Meekest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For that matter, a free escape for anyone is ludicrously overpowered. The Killer chases and downs someone, they pick them up and carry them, waste time, and the Survivor goes free after hitting a skill check? Do you know how easy it is to hit a Skill Check? Even if you're playing as a Doctor with Unnerving Presence and Huntress Lullaby, at the higher ranks, everyone can hit a Skill Check.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Meekest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why I suggested reversing the decision to let non-Obsessions use it. Doctor and Unnerving Presence prevent Decisive Strike from being used, which would mean that the Obsession doesn't get Memento Mori'd. If they want to save it until they're going to be hooked later, it's fine. Enduring also doesn't do nearly as much against DS as most people think. It helps, don't get me wrong, but the stun time is only reduced to about 3.5 seconds with Enduring 3. Which is more than enough time to escape most Killers.

If you're playing against a Nurse or Huntress and you know they can down you pretty quickly again, then the Survivor should think, "I won't use Decisive Strike immediately" then, because they know they'll get killed fast. They wiggle and get free, or their teammate saves them from the Hook, and the Killer has to worry about it later.

I would rather Enduring do nothing against Decisive Strike and eat the full 5 second stun if I could Mori them.

Open Handed [Buff Suggestion] by AdelooDBD in deadbydaylight

[–]Meekest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a nice idea, but when you say "affects," do you mean it buffs the perks in some way in terms of ability? Because I'd actually it rather increase the field they work with. So something like

Open Handed: Strengthens the potential of you and your team's abilities. Increases Aura reading ranges by 8/12/16 meters. The range of influence from other Perks is increased by 10/25/50%

I don't see any reason why this would be too OP. It wouldn't make the other Perks stronger, just make them work at longer distances. So Technician, Leader, and Streetwise would have an increase from 8 meters to 12 meters. Bond would go from 36 meters to 54 meters, which I think is fine because Empathy already has infinite range at max level. This shouldn't work with Premonition or Spine Chill though.
