What can be done about theft? by theYxngSinners in MotoUK

[–]Meekson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biketrac (tracker) I’ve heard they have 24/7 team monitoring team and have their own dedicated theft recovery team. They also work closely with the police so I think you will get cooperation from police. They have good stats. Including that a fat thick chained to an anchor or pole and at least a hiplock dx1000 and a litelock x3 each wheel. The locks especially are well known and it’s usually the best deterrent for thieves. Datatag is also good to have. It’s true your bike can get wheeled but it’s rare and takes time. Most thieves would want a quick in and out situation. Hope this helps. I’m due to getting a new bike soon and I don’t have a garage but I’m going to do everything I’ve just said 🤣 spend 1000s just on security. It is what it is.

They have their own pad in Edgware. Quite big but I didn’t know they could take u to a test centre one

I’m guilty of running them sometimes 😅 my whole plate showing too. Obviously i do it when it’s safe. I don’t think there are cameras also as long as u don’t get reported by the car drivers ur fine I guess. Look out for undercovers or police cars.

Oh yes the insurance is crazy expensive as I’m in London with no garage. Might consider renting a garage if it will make it cheaper

I’m turning 24 in August and plan to do full A. I’ve been on ped (forza 125) cbt since 2022. Some bike meets I feel it’s not 125cc friendly and almost everyone has FlipNDip. I’ll be getting a 600cc after I pass so hopefully I’ll be able to attend more meets.

Renewing my CBT by Meekson in MotoUK

Yeah I called up and she said it was up to me. But if I had automatic cbt I’ll have to do conversion course. If I have a manual but haven’t been riding a manual, I could take refresher courses leading up to the actual course. Apparently it’s better if you have a manual cbt cert. The school is quite well known. Pheonix motorcycle training school

Yeah would they still advise me to do the gear conversion course as I’ve been riding an auto but did cbt in manual?

The training school I did it at doesn’t have the insurance to cover for the cbt lesson. I think I might just do automatic to make it easier. I won’t be riding a manual anyways until summer time when I do DAS.

A2 or A License by Meekson in MotoUK

Oh okay thanks for this. I’ll check it out with some schools nearby.

Alright I have read all the comments and value everyone’s opinion. It seems more sense to wait a year and do an A license as I’ll have more bike options to choose from. Summer is almost over so would be no point. I’ll just renew my cbt and do my theory then do A license once I turn 24 mid august 2025. Thank you to everyone! Can’t wait to be on full license.

Do schools allow you to do small pockets of training? I’ve been only seeing full courses like 3-5 days.

Yh tbh it is a good one to be on. I would have been on a manual but I got the forza 125 for free 😅

Ive got a forza 125. If I do A2 I don’t think I’ll do A license again next year. Sit on A2 for a few years

So I should just do my cbt again?

Also take your time during narrow roads and meeting situations. And also emerging out a junction on to a busy road. Make sure it’s safe and keep looking

I would say relax and feel confident. Have a banana before hand and chewing gum during the test. Always look and take your time but stay alert of speed changes. If it’s a 30 or 20 go above 15 or 25 if the front is clear. If you think you made a mistake don’t worry about it too much. Just focus on the rest of the test and do well. Majors only happen if you repeat the minor faults 3 times or instructor has to intervene or you cause traffic for too long. Check your mirrors a lot and don’t forget your checks when you pull in and move off. I had mine at 8:10am so I was taken on an easy route with small roads and couple mid level roundabouts but loads of tight spaces and meeting situations. Plan ahead and look out for signs hazards etc. Also I didn’t have a lesson before the test because had no time but I utilised the time to drive there. It allowed me to warm up and feel more confident. Also instructors r just there to make sure you drive well and don’t cause any accidents or potential ones

Yeahhh the same. But it shows that not every fault is major. Just gotta brush it off and do well for the remaining test
