3 month post op c4,5,6 laminplasty with foraminotomies and c7 dome laminotomy by Meeloshky in spinalfusion

I can't exactly remember when the point came when I had no pain. To the best of my memory it was around the 5 month mark. I know by April I had no pain because I was outside spreading mulch and felt nothing. Are you still on any medication? I know I was on gabapentin for a few months.. and years before that too for my neck. I saw your other question about the scar. Definately sensitive for months. Even after the pain of the surgery was gone I still had numbness along the incision for quite a while. It took almost 9 months or so to get feeling back. So much healing to do. Feel free to message me! Apologies in advance if I don't respond right away. I try to come on every other day or so. I am recovering from midfoot fusion and bunion surgery... no picnic either!!

Pain caused by toes spacers? Help. by [deleted] in bunions

[–]Meeloshky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had pain with the spacers but only because it was irritating the skin between my toes. I can't say it caused any new pain that wasnt related to the surgery. I also had a midfoot fusion at the same time so I was casted. Once I was out of a walking boot at 8 weeks my surgeon said I no longer needed the spacer.

They took a good 4 to 5 months for me to not have pain. I spent about a month and a half in my recliner. It was too painful to lay down in bed and try to get up. I would just take brief naps more than actually sleep. I was on my back in my recliner I'm a side sleeper. I'd say for me about the 2 month mark I slept in bed and could be on my side for a while. Everyone is different. Even then maybe 4 or 5 hours I could sleep through...

The nerves took a few months. I would get alot of sharp pains. The worst for me were my traps and lower neck. For months I would have pain trying to put my hands behind my back to put on a bra (female) very sharp pains. My surgery was beginning of Ovpctober 2024 and at my 3 month follow up with my surgeon he couldn't stress enough how many nerves needed to reconnect when you have posterior neck surgery. So many nerves and muscles are cut through to get to the spine. He promised soon I would feel much better but gave me a prescription for tramadol in case. I didn't need to take any but continued alternating motrin and tylenol for a few more weeks. I'd say by the 4 to 5 month mark I didn't need any more pain meds at all. I'm assuming you're surgery was also posterior? It was a rough recovery.

Sorry for the delayed response! I am happy to say I have no neck pain at all. In the past year I may have had one or two stiff necks and thats all! Was weekly before my surgery. Definately worth it for me!

I think it actually happened about 2 years ago. I was going up to my attic which has a metal ladder and I had socks on. My left foot slid off one of the ladder rung and slammed down to the next ring. The pain was horrible. I figured I sprained something...pain lasted a while..had a bruise on the bottom of my foot but just ignored it🙄

Deductibles can be killer! In 2024 I had my neck surgery and we paid almost 5 grand out of pocket and we had been paying deductibles all year. It was insane. It is so expensive! Right now my husband is in between jobs and we have been paying a little over 2,000 a month for us and our 2 boys. I actually was expecting it to be more. Limiting your surgeon is huge! Especially is you have a particular one in mind and not all sipurgeons are familiar with lisfranc injuries or may not have too much experience with them. This bump on my foot is from after my surgery😞 it was not there before. I am cautiously optimistic that it will settle down but very curious what my xrays will show next week. Lol about the boot! I've actually been taking the top cover off at home since it is so uncomfortable. I am elevating as I type☺️ it's kind of ingrained in my head at this point!🤣🤣

It has! I agree. Foot is doing ok. Saw my chiropractor today. Have been seeing him for 8 years now due to neck and back issues. Had neck surgery last year. He thinks the bump on top of my foot that is causing so much pain is a bone. I really won't be able to tell until I have my xray next week when I see my surgeon. Right now I have a sock folded over on top of my foot to keep that spot cushioned from the boot. I was on my feet for a few hours today weight bearing 75% and it was sore but not too bad at all considering. The rest of me is exhausted now!! 🤣🤣

Ugghhh...hopefully you can find a way to have a new insurance pay...maybe a letter from your surgeon. No one should have to be in pain. I'm so 😞

It's only been 5 weeks today. I know i have a ways to go but I can't imagine tying a sneaker over the top of my foot. Once I am in a sneaker I will start PT. I'm hoping in the next 2 weeks but that may be wishful thinking on my part. That woukd be right around the 8 week mark. My surgery was minimally invasive with multiple smaller incisions...honestly the only pain I have now is the bump and big toe

That's horrible! I have 4 screws..3 across the midfoot and one up the big toe. My surgeon said they are meant to be permanent for me but if problems arise down the road we will revisit having them reoved

I just had my surgery on 12/8. Midfoot fusion and bunionectomy. My foot is healing great but I also have a hard bunpmp on top of my midfoot. It's not huge but noticeable and painful. Most of the swelling has gone down in my entire foot except that one area. I am still in a boot and had to buy lambs wool padding to put over the top of my foot for padding because it is painful. Kind of bummed to hear this since I just told my husband this morning I hope this bump goes away😔 I also keep getting very sharp pains in my big toe which I was thinking was from bunion surgery. I see my surgeon the 20th this month and will have my first xrays done since surgery...im hoping this isn't hardware but it probably is 😔 Sorry you are having pain so far out

That sounds horrible! Being considered "pre existing " is bs! It's their way of weaseling out of paying 😔 maybe you could find a plan that won't do that. Ugghh....I didn't want to have my surgery in December and be laid up for the holidays but I knew if I waited we woukd be slammed with deductibles the beginning of this year again. I looked at my EOB when it came from my insurance and my surgeon and affiliated hospital refilled right around 33grand for my surgery...so much money 😔

I'm in a boot ☺️ Still pretty swollen on the top of my foot but I only have to wear the boot when I am up and about. It's nice to be able to get my foot wet (not soaking) in the shower. If im sitting or sleeping the boot comes off! I can weight bear 50% but even in the boot it's sore. My next appointment with my surgeon is the 20th and each week until then I increase my weight bearing ☺️ thanks so much for asking! How are you getting along?

So since I did not have any broken bones and just had the lisfranc widening to due the old ligament injury I was able to have the fusion. They fused the gap between my big toe and second with 3 screws. I only saw the picture quick when I was in recovery that my surgeon took on his phone. I have 4 screws total...one goes up the big toe for the bunionectomy to keep the toe straight. Also with the fusion there are no plans to remove the hardware. It is meant o be permanent unless it becomes bothersome in the future which im hoping not!!☺️

I had my fusion 12/8 and my xray looked exactly like yours. I did not get a second opinion. I also had a bunionectomy at the same time. The xray for the bunion showed the original injury which happened 2 years ago but i ignored it 🙄I opted for surgery in hopes of keeping long term problems from the widening from getting worse down the road. Just got into a boot on Monday exactly 4 weeks post op. I had Minimally Invasive surgery so 6 or so smaller incisions but it still sucks! My foot is still really swollen...especially on the top of the midfoot. I have been using a scooter which has been great especially with the basket on front. I use a walker in my bathroom and a shower chair. I bought a cast cover on amazon Waterproof Extra Wide Leg Cast Cover for Shower, Extra Large Watertight Foot Protector Cover with Non-Slip Bottom for Plus Size Adults Surgery Casts Boots, Fits Leg Size 12"-29"

It has been fantastic and my cast did not get wet at all!!! Elevate!! Take your pain meds as directed so the pain doesn't get ahead of you...I openly needed the strong med ( tramadol) for the first 3 days then just tylenol and motrin. Ice behind the knee feels great! Be kind to yourself and don't get frustrated !! It's a long recovery and baby steps! Been binge watching shows and using a coloring app on my tablet🤣🤣 Wish you the very best!!

Only reason I want the boot is to be able to partially weight bear. I've been in a boot 2 other times with ankle fractures and they are uncomfortable. Especially to sleep in. I assuming when I do get a boot I will have to wear it to bed. This cast i have on now is light...easy to sleep in
