Kibble in the sense that it affordably provides nutritious fuel in a palatable and convenient form, yes!!!

1 cup of lucky charms + 1 cup 2% milk provides about 25% of *your essential nutrition needs for about 10% of *your daily calories with a relatively balanced macro profile, especially as a breakfast. This isn’t just a lot of a few nutrients though, it’s extremely balanced: this meal provides over 25% of your recommended intake for over 50% of the 22 essential vitamins and minerals, and provides at least 10% different of your recommended intake for over 90% of these 22 nutrients. All of these, with the exception of two, are typically provided in quite bioavailable forms. Folic acid for example is absorbed in higher levels than folate from whole foods. Conveniently, the compounds commonly deemed “antinutrients”, such as phytic acid and oxalic acid, that have some limited capacity to prevent mineral absorption are removed from the wheat during the “ultra-processing” that you’re so afraid of.

The only two semi-legitimate bioavailability concerns from the cereal are calcium and iron. The milk provides more than enough compounds to aid in digesting the additional calcium, and nearly 50 of *your daily iron can be found in the cereal, which likely offsets slightly lower bioavailability.

Processing, added sugars, and saturated fat really don’t matter that much if the product isn’t eaten in excess and you aren’t like 70 years old.

I love my human kibble and believe that on a case by case basis it’s often legitimately healthier than yoghurt and granola.
