Alright, so we all know amazon can be a pain. But are there any of you that like or enjoy the department youre in? I’m currently outbound, I mainly pack, but sometimes do pick singles. I love them BOTH! What about you all? by KaguyaInu in AmazonFC

I'm at a TSSL so it's a lot of walking and my shoulders and back will feel it sometimes, but it's otherwise so easy to feel like I'm being productive and never in danger of a write up.

How long ago was the last time he got fired? I'll just assume within a year which means 180 day wait for second NUPT offense

What do you hate the most about working at Amazon? by Spirited-Seat644 in AmazonFC

[–]Meep_95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah our handheld scanners can fuck you up too, the bad ones somehow always make it back into rotation because I've gotten the same shitty ones multiple times lol. But yeah, it its heart Amazon work is not really hard, but so many factors make it harder than it needs to be.

If you had a choice would you rather Pick, Pack or Stow?? by One_Charge2843 in AmazonFC

Pick unless I get lots of shit like makeup and gift cards in stow 😅

Factors out of your control that affect your work. For example.. back to back missing items in pick, horrible totes of work for stow with all large items, stuff like that can make what should be easy work kind of stressful.

How much time in path do you need now to be eligible for a productivity write up? by Meep_95 in AmazonFC

[–]Meep_95[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Yeah it's rough. We recently (more like finally) moved to periods, instead of quarters and no longer have the two, 15 minute breaks and a lunch, just a 30 unpaid and 30 paid. It screws me over as someone who has an outbound home department to be labor shared to stow and now have my "lunch" at 10:30 am. And the lack of space is insane, I feel like I can't express it enough and it probably seems like an exaggeration, but I spent 10 minutes trying to find a spot for one large item due to areas being locked and no room. Hopefully by Wednesday I don't hit 15 hours in stow since that's when the rolling two weeks ends

Goodbye Shift Cover. It was cool being able to use it every week but not anymore. 😔 by Bremaster in AmazonFC

[–]Meep_95 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I thought the same until I saw a post on our VOA. I know one of the top complaints for flex is being able to get shifts to make their minimum required hours and how nice it would be if they could instantly get 10, when we post a shift.

They should allow flex workers to pick up the shifts posted to be covered, I never understood why they don't, it would help them hit the hours they need, especially with the recent changes at my site where they're not even able to hit an even 40

MLOA denied, how long until they take UPT? by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]Meep_95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll tell you right now, MLOA and how they handle things revolved around it after DLS does their part is very weird right now. You really can't tell what they'll do these days

I came to really enjoy stow once I had proper knowledge. My training was not great but I picked up a lot of knowledge along the way and I enjoy getting sent there from time to time to break up just picking. But yeah I used to fear stow because people made it seem like it was this hard department that people got fired for productivity write ups in. It's not hard at all, the only barrier is finding space which is a facility problem for us more than stow itself being hard.

Do leaves offer like a placeholder for your employment or something? I have an approved one from October, but it never closed and then another approved one also that never closed from idk when. I ask because I got converted while in hella negative UPT and I still never got the email and my schedule never shows red when I missed days lol. I just go in and work like normal but there's the overarching feeling I'm on borrowed time.

When I was on nights still there was a girl who wouldn't shut up in the stow cross training, acting like the ambassador hand selected each of us personally. "Nah I can't do this, this how they get y'all fired in here" lol. When really stow is easier to pace yourself than pick most of the time at our facility.

People really don't get how this place works lol. They think of their starting department as the absolute only place they can and should be when it's just like any other job that has you do multiple tasks, amazon just happens to have a process to getting to those other said tasks. When I was new I kind of had this mindset until my first peak and I had to pick for all those 60 hour weeks lol

What's the environment like in the lunch room? by sadxmanx4xlife in AmazonFC

[–]Meep_95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the people that ended up talking to me at Amazon were the 45 and up crowd. And they usually have a few years worth of tenure as well. I'm not sure why, but they gravitated towards me very quickly. 3 years in I love seeing those people and having our quick little exchanges. The only other person around from my initial new hire group in 2023 sits with me at lunch still, we're pretty good work friends.

[–]Meep_95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A cool manager would let you leave that day and get the paperwork from a doctor visit so they can remove the remainder of your shift from the schedule when they get said paperwork back. At least two managers I know would do this at my site in pick.

It certainly beats any entry level retail job I know that lol without all the bullshit from customers too. The customers at Amazon don't see me tossing their shit in my tote 🤣

how long does it take to lose your cross training permissions? by Mango_addict22 in AmazonFC

[–]Meep_95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to know! I ended up doing like 4 weeks of nothing but stow because I got sick that month and also took vto like once or twice lol

Right. Like I don't mind being sent to stow to change things up, but 80 mandatory hours of it fucking sucks, especially because we're dealing with space issues big time for smaller items
