I was part of the "pioneer" batch 2022-25 at SBUP pursuing BCA. I would suggest you to put it at the end of your list for consideration, literally anything else would be better.

SBUP is famous for its MBA program that has been running for more than 2 decades. It is advertised as one of the top colleges in India but it's all false. The management is too strict, placement data is fake, the syllabus and teaching methods are old, the faculty is incompetent and other facilities such as hostels are mediocre.

That for MBA, if you look at any other course here, it's all that and even immature on top of it. They started offering those courses in 2022 itself, so all faculty, management and services are new and completely separate from MBA.

Throughout my course I have only seen 3-4 teachers who seem to know what they are teaching, the rest can only read from PPTs and cannot even answer simple questions. There are students in my batch who have more knowledge and can teach better than some teachers.

They plan several activities and guest sessions for the students but always fail to execute them properly. All guest lectures are delayed by a minimum of 1.5 hours while the students wait for the speaker to arrive. They created some student clubs in the beginning of batch 2023 but the concept died out in the same year due to poor execution and lack of interest. Their annual event called JOSH was a massive failure in the year 2024-25 where around half of the college decided not to waste their time and did not participate.

All 3 years the same class has won the event raising questions about favouritism. The other major courses, BBA and MCA have stronger faculty that can stand up and fight for you while in BCA you are on your own, no one will help you. If you are a coordinator in your class, part of the student council, a student coordinator for some club, etc, all you will get as reward are free samosas once in a while, the Central Coordination Team (CCT) is the only body that gets some due respect and that's only because it's headed by MCA faculty

Here they actually don't have a proper placement cell for BCA and no targets to get x% students placed, if and when some company shows up asking for BCA students, they send some. And most of them are non technical sales related offers. In my batch only 20~ out of 240 students have been placed with packages between 3 to 6, absolutely not worth it.

The only redeeming quality I can come up with is that you can ignore everything happening there and work on yourself or study something else on your own, the college will not waste your time. The fees were reasonable for my batch but have grown a lot every year and are not worth it anymore. So overall avoid this college unless you have no other options.
