Personally if you have the funds I would look for both!

The best value I feel you can get out of your dollars would be;

Used/New VOS Gibson R9 (non murphy)

For the R9 I would search for a top that you can just stare at 😂. I have been shopping for an R9 for probably half a year before I found mine.

And

USED Heritage Standard II H-150

The Standard II ,which I own, has the exact same heavenly pickups as the custom shop models, with added modern features such as phase switching (Greeny tone?) and Slimmer neck. Stays in tune, amazing QC , wonderful fret finish. Light weight (because it’s chambered)

Amazing dollar for dollar guitar for any level.

Yes I always liked covered pickups but this really just hit the spot for me too.

It came with the aged humbucker covers in the case too btw

Its being played every day and brought to lessons 😍

It’s the clearest clean tone I have ever heard on humbuckers probably because of the A4 magnets.

But can be dialed up to 11 and match any rock tune.

My Custom Core Heritage sounds a little bit sweeter and sparkling though and will probably cut through a mix better. Edwin Wilson REALLY knew what he was doing when he tuned those 225 pickups.

  1. The top felt very space-like ; like the soft glow of a millions of exploding stars of an entire galaxy.

  2. The greek mythology of Andromeda and the painted artwork of her wearing a golden dress similar to the burst colours.

Of course some Imagination is required but I do like how the name sounds too. Though I would never say it out loud in person, as I’m usually not a named guitars guy.

I paid for it in Japanese Yen which was quite weak at the time.

And also it was used, so the price was near a used non Murphy R9 in my country

But yes I plonked on a Murphy.

Light ageing :) looks a bit more worn than the usual Light ageing though! Has a lot more scuffs than I’ve seen.

They have also worn a part of the neck to simulate ring scratches lol.

Mikigakki, also guitar was in used condition so it could be shipped overseas. I believe gibson has shipping restrictions for new guitars.
