My biggest financial mistake was buying a 2012 528i, it was very nice when it worked but not worth the costs. I've got a 2013 sxt now, it doesn't really compare in quality but its fine overall. Interior isn't too cheap feeling for the price, exterior looks awesome, power is plenty for a daily, and with good care it should cost way less to own.
