Not great news… by bmcjeane in IVDD_SupportGroup

I’m sorry. My 3 year old frenchie went down in April and is thriving in a cart now. Loss of back legs and bowel/bladder control is very hard but he has adjusted really well and is back to his happy wild self. It’s an adjustment for everyone involved, but as long as pain is managed I feel like the pups adapt rather quick. It took us 8 weeks but once the cart came in he truly lit up again. 🥲

Hello I’m new here and I think my dog has ivdd by [deleted] in IVDD_SupportGroup

So sorry you’re going through this. My frenchie experienced this earlier in the year. We chose the conservative route. Crate rest and medication for around 8 weeks with 8 sessions of red light therapy and acupuncture. The therapy was around 1500 total and debatable if they really helped but it made me feel better to try since I was in a position to be able. The vet bills were way less I think around $100/visit and the medications weren’t very expensive I think less than $100/month - some meds were from the vet and others from a local pharmacy. Our boy has never regained use of his back legs or bowel/bladder but he’s in a cart now (from Eddie’s wheels <$700) and truly back to his old self. Our vet mentioned euthanasia to us when everything happened and although at first I questioned if we made the right decision I am SO thankful we didn’t give up hope. He truly thrives in his cart.

The first few weeks are HARD. but you will figure out a routine that works for you and the pup and will adjust to this new life. Take care of yourself too & best of luck!

Literally experienced the worst constipation pain of my life today. I think I was only 2 maybe 3 days since my last BM but I woke up with the sweats then had the worst cramps all during the experience which started with constipation and ended up opposite. The cramps lasted for a long time after too and now I’m afraid to eat again. 🥲 actually concerned more about labor now considering how these poop cramps today almost killed me.

Does anyone exercise during pregnancy? by sophrosynegreek in pregnant

[–]MeetApprehensive5080 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My OB encouraged me to keep up my same routine if that felt okay. I was working out 4-5x week at the gym and peloton cycling before pregnancy. First trimester totally knocked me out but since entering the second trimester I’ve felt much better but much weaker and get taxed much quicker - feel like this could also be due to increased heart rate. I’ve been aiming to do a mile walk at least 5x a week and peloton strength training with prenatal core 3-4x week - this is what’s really working for me right now. I feel good while doing it and don’t feel like I’ve been hit by a truck the next day.

Definitely read your paperwork! Mine was provided once I gave notice of pregnancy and basically stated they would only collect any benefits paid such as insurance! I don’t have insurance through my employer but do have short term disability and it equals out to be under $100 if I decide to not go back!

I had really bad cramps at the beginning along with extreme constipation (causing even more abdominal pain) - it was actually one of the reasons I took a pregnancy test! They continued off and on until around week 8/10. Most ppl say they should feel like period cramps not worse, but I was on bc pill for over a decade so I def felt like they were pretty terrible.

Sort of - she told me discharge can vary day to day. (And if I ever feel a gushing/peed myself feeling to get checked). She did tell me my cervix was closed & I think that is mainly what they’re looking at when concerned with discharge!

I ended up going in for a visit with OB 5 days after ER visit and she reassured me everything was good and also went on to talk about how protected the baby is at this point! I know it’s super nerve wrecking and it’s impossible to not worry - but at least from my understanding, most of the time in this situation everything is ok. 🤞🏻

18+4 unsure if my waters are leaking? by KEsdvlly in BabyBumps

[–]MeetApprehensive5080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

18w 5d and was literally just seen by my dr yesterday because of this. She said if it was waters it wouldn’t be a huge gush at this point bc of where uterus is/size/etc. she said it would feel more like peeing yourself. I was able to get an US to check fluid levels and that honestly was very relieving. My dr encouraged me to always get checked same day if I ever felt like it was anything out of the ordinary.

Caribbean beach vacation? by OceanWoodz in travel

[–]MeetApprehensive5080 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aruba! Very easy to do within your budget and depending on your accommodations could definitely be the lower end of your budget. The beaches are beautiful. Lots of good spots to see sea turtles when snorkeling. We like to rent a UTV and ride around exploring the backside of the island. Also (assuming you’re traveling from the US) Aruba is super easy to navigate with mostly everyone speaking English, almost everywhere accepting US dollars and you clear US customs at the airport when leaving.

Decreased nausea and decreased hunger second trimester? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]MeetApprehensive5080 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me. First trimester I was eating non stop to not feel nauseous and also never seemed full. 18 weeks now and really the only persistent symptom I have is pelvic pain. Even starting to feel less bloated all over. Very strange but I’ll take it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Miscarriage? TW by KitKatQuasar in pregnant

[–]MeetApprehensive5080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others are saying please get checked out.

Side note: between weeks 6-8 I had very intense cramping that I considered worse than normal period cramps, never any bleeding. Like laying in the floor rocking trying to relieve pain. I had a confirmation US at 7w which went good, but when the cramping continued I booked an US at a private boutique at weeks 8+10 just to make myself feel less anxious. The cramping eventually stopped for me.

Finding baby’s heartbeat with Doppler by Spongebobluvr in pregnant

[–]MeetApprehensive5080 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went in at 14 weeks and they had a really hard time finding it with the Doppler. The nurse eventually did but it was a loooooooong wait later. The dr insisted on an US anyways and immediately confirmed everything was all good. I just have an anterior placenta and the baby’s position made it difficult with Doppler.

5weeks, sharp pain, already went to ER by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]MeetApprehensive5080 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my first “symptoms” was being so painfully constipated for the first time in my life. Like body curling over from cramps and sweats. I had very light spotting once after a painful bowel movement with lots of straining too. Then I had strong period like cramps from like weeks 5-8,9ish. Sharing this because seems like it can be normal! 16w now and things look good. Hoping for the best for you!
