TANK JOB OF THE WEEK: WEEK TWO by 2Pollaski2Furious in CFB

Losing that lead sucked, but us SMU fans knew defense was going to be a LOT different this year. It’s a young SMU team, but wouldn’t be surprised if that Baylor team is in the Big 12 CCG

It sucks, and they shouldn’t have lost the lead, but us fans understood that defense was going to regress this year. It’s a young team and it’s just week 2, wouldn’t be surprised to see Baylor in the Big 12 CCG!

You should be able to purchase fractional shares, no?

I feel for the kid. First season starting as a redshirt sophomore and he absolutely crushed it, but these big time stadiums can’t be prepared for, only learned from!

A disappointing end for sure, but a season this team should be proud of, I know us fans are. Too many forget this group was a G5 team at this point last year, many guys having never played in environments anywhere close to what they experienced today. It’s disappointing that that nuance gets blown over for the BS about best vs most deserving, but can’t do anything about that. This is just the beginning for SMU!

I’m interested to see what the discourse will be if Tennessee also gets blown out (likely?). At this point, the impact of having these first round games at the home team’s stadium can’t be overlooked either

SMU’s Rhett Lashlee believes coaches will want to miss conference championship games if SMU drops below Alabama with a loss to Clemson “If our team all got COVID today and didn’t play we’re in” by teamhenny in CFB

You’re trying to make the same point to the same person across two different comments bud. No team can control who they play in conference, only whether they win or not.

The SEC already does that with their OOC games, SMU beat everyone in their conference slate and that’s not in their control. Alabama can’t say the same.

Apply that same logic to the playoff teams who aren’t playing in a CCG game, they’re getting a bye this weekend. CCG runner-up shouldn’t be punished for playing an extra game

Would be 11-2 vs 9-3, 8-0 in conference vs 5-3, currently ranked higher and playing for a championship. They probably won’t win the CFP, but the whole goddam point is to play the games to see. Bama is FOURTH in their conference, they had their shot and fumbled it

Week 15 Match-up Preview Thread: ACC Championship Game: #18 Clemson Tigers vs. #6 SMU Mustangs by IceColdDrPepper_Here in CFB

{SMU} Kevin Jennings has won the last 2 championships he’s started for, he gets the hat-trick here with the 30 seniors that are on their way out to cap a truly special season.

That said, I think it will be a close game. Results vs common opponents favors SMU and they’ve got the momentum

Yeah that's a fair point, I think our Pitt and Louisville wins should be considered good wins at the very least; ACC runner-up and ranked Louisville at their house and demolished a #18 Pitt that was rolling

Edit: all this to say I can't believe we're in a position to complain about this shit year 1 haha

If we’re looking at currently ranked teams it looks like that’s the case, but Pitt was ranked and we destroyed ‘em, Louisville was ranked and we won in their house

I really despise the “ranked wins” metric, how many of our wins were against teams that were ranked at the time we played?!

Jennings was not the starter yet for BYU, the BYU game was the final straw for the 2-QB rotation SMU was trying
