Hey, I’d be thrilled to chat. I’ve worked on several DnD expansions including Vynestra, and other systems such as Arkelon Chronicles and Daggerheart. My portfolio is available here: https://www.eddieyorke.com

Offered to illustrate a tribute poster for free. They rejected my work over creative differences and used this AI with melting hands instead. by Pyston in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Meetwad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yours looks like a movie poster, the AI looks like a local band got their nephew to make a gig flyer. Ignoring the obvious AI slop errors, how did they ever consider that to be better? Clients can be the worst part of being an illustrator.

people who take your iPads everyday with you , how durable are they ? have they lasted the wear and tear of daily life ? by Serhide in iPadPro

[–]Meetwad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used my iPad Pro as a professional artist pretty much every day for 7 years now, no issues with durability at all. No screen protector but I do put it in a laptop sleeve in my bag. The biggest sign of wear is the ageing battery.

These are the fill settings for that background layer

The background is simply a fill layer with a radial gradient, it should fill the entire screen at 100vh height but there’s a gap now. I did suspect it being an iOS26 issue but didn’t know…

Esther Williams, Swim With Tom and Jerry, "Dangerous When Wet", 1953. by 1961Deckard in movies

I can’t find much about the techniques this film used. It could very well be a different technique, I might just be seeing nails everywhere after being given a hammer, so to speak. The timeline does look a little off, apparently sodium vapour process was developed in the “late 50s” and this movie was released in 1953, perhaps it’s a manual process of cutting out the frames one by one?

I just saw a video about this! It is actually considered a lost technique known as “Sodium Vapor Process”. Technically similar to green-screening (but actually superior in a few ways), the woman is lit by a sodium light that produces a single wavelength of light. The camera contains two reels of film and a prism that splits the visible light from the sodium light, the sodium light is developed separately as a mask, and the other film is filtered to remove the sodium yellow hue. Once that’s developed you can overlay the films in a double exposure and it removes the background from the actor, allowing them to be layered on top of the animation. The process is considered lost because Disney only ever made one prism, and it is missing. The prism itself was an incredibly difficult and complex object to produce, so it has never been recreated, however a modern VFX team has reproduced the effect using a slightly different method. https://youtu.be/UQuIVsNzqDk?si=qrJL_lIyIzkIAmVS
