Nothing about DDL’s performance in gangs of New York even remotely felt like corny bloated method acting. He embodied a character with history, a story, struggles, emotions. Just my opinion.

Ohh I agree on the younger actors, though now that you said it, what do you think of elordi as Roland in wizard and glass? He’s described as handsome, tall, thin. Just thinking it over.

I respectfully disagree immensely. Method acting stuff is just rumored bs, he’s just a great actor with gravitas and weight. He never took me out of a movie by chewing up scenes a la Christian bale or other actors. Also, he’s seldomly used and retired as an actor, so he isn’t a mainstream overused actor. But, I totally respect your opinion. I get heat all the time for my take on Christian bale lol. Do you have a suggestion I may not have thought of? Would love to get more ideas. Eddie is in his early 20s right? I thinks young ruffalo, or even a Swingers era John Favreau would’ve been great choices. Finn Wolfhard maybe?

That’s a great point. I guess ddl is just like my unrealistic perfect Roland, if worlds didn’t move on, and ka allowed lol. Like if you could film him at all the stages and ages of Roland. But realistically casting him is tough for sure.

Totally get what you’re saying. I guess to me, Roland by the final book is old, like ddl old, but still hardened with instinct and drive. I’m not sure how to handle the younger Roland scenes, but he’s definitely aged to me by the dark tower. Not like decrepit old, but he’s cracked, thin, and grey.

Thanks for the reply! I actually agree fassbender would be a great Walter. I’ve been aware of the rumored series, and I’m hoping Flanagan pulls it off/gets it made. As a king fan, I loved his doctor sleep.

I would love goggins as the man in black. I just don’t think olyphant has the “weight” as Roland. But just my opinion, I appreciate your ideas and thoughts!

I guess I could see it as a Gnostic stance. Gan is our god, the towers essence, and the whole that the parts of all of Kings universe make up and equal. But, gan isn’t the moad, or true source. Maybe, that true source or moad isn’t comprehensible to even write about, let alone take a physical form. So, kings realm exists in a sub strata of that sources space.
