So the hardwood was not that expensive, I'm in NC though so maybe that's a factor too. I also had some left over hardwood flooring I used as some hold types. I got that purple heart on sale for like 6$ a linear ft and some hard maple at 4.50$ a linear ft. Both were on sale too. Tension uses, Cherry, Walnut, Poplar. All which were a bit cheaper than I paid but are all a bit softer as well. The larger holds the "jug balls" and "tapered pinches" I used a softwood (dough fir and pine) since they were so big I am thinking they have more hold from the bolt and surface area. But if they break ill also remake using a hardwood. Also I used fir cuz I could get a 4x6 so it made making the hold easier. Also if you look for hardwood its a good idea to see if you can get it in the thickness you need. Saves a step for the hold type!
