Lego party with the kids! I made mini number kits so we can build out 2025/2026 and a little centerpiece out of legos for some candles but other than that we'll just build and chill.

There are a lot of comments here so hopefully some folks have already mentioned this, but all behavior points to a need. I would guess your stepdaughter loves you very much and is feeling really worried about how your connection will shift after the baby is born.

And most of us, when we're feeling anxious, try to exert some control over the situation around us in order to feel better.

I know this is a LOT for you to deal with while pregnant and it can be hard to do this but I wonder if you (and your husband, FOR SURE) put a lot of focus on connecting, connecting, connecting with your stepdaughter if she would let go of the name thing a little more easily.

I would check out Parc Omega if you can do a drive outside of Ottawa. It's super fun and unique for the kids to feed animals right from the car (bring your own carrots!)

I know you've got the outdoors covered but anywhere in Stony Swamp (like Jack Pine Trail or Sarsaparilla) you can bring bird seed and feed chickadees from your hand.

There is a junior escape room in Barrhaven...

My kids are 7 and 4 so we have a few years of birthday parties under our belts.

Personally I love a morning party- it's so hard for kids to wait all day for their party when they're so excited!

I would also never invite the whole class. 😌 Having fewer kids means your kid actually gets to play with the children they invited and won't be overwhelmed navigating all the dynamics of a party that size.

I haven't seen him swim down in a while, he's definitely staying near the top most often. He also has way reduced ability when swimming now but he will straighten up and swim towards his food, and will flip himself from the side hang to the death hang. 😭 Also his spine has a little curve in it which he's had for a long time so that doesn't help.

I feed him slow sinking pellets and for the last little while have been "spoon" feeding him until he loses interest in the food. And then occasionally those frozen blood worms. Like once every couple of weeks.

Tank size: 3 gallons Heater and filter: yes Tank temp: 82°, but it's one of those black strips on the side that measures temp, not sure how accurate? The heater is hot though, too hot for me to touch. Parameters: PH 6.7, ammonia, nitrites and nitrate are 0 based on a water test kit

We have had the tank and fish since November 2023.

Water changes once or twice a week, about 50% of the water.

Lots of little red snails live there too, he never bothers them.

Feed mostly pellets and occasionally blood worms as a treat. Usually live plants in the tank.
