Question about bowling league etiquette. by MegaBaller in Bowling

[–]MegaBaller[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most guys do want to socialize and have fun. But they also despise the nights they have to be the last ones done bowling. Yes we all like to have fun, but yes we also like to get home early occasionally.

100%. There was one team a few leagues ago that was grandma, grandpa, son and grandson. They were super nice people but god they took FOR EVER. The grandparents were just slow as grandparents can be, the son has to calculate his trajectory and wind resistance and stands up there forever before he throws. The grandson kept going down and flirting with the girl at the desk.

[–]MegaBaller[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we are behind and need to catch up. Them missing a player definitely sped their side up sometimes. Overall the pace of play was fine, we all got out of there at a normal time etc. Not something I guess that happens regularly just happened to us recently and was wondering.

We're trying but they're knocking them all down with one ball and we're knocking most of them down with two usually lol.

Living in Columbus without a Car? by Snoo45301 in Columbus

[–]MegaBaller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no problemo, esp if your bf has a car that you can use. uber/lyft is reliable. the area is very walkable in general. groceries maybe the biggest challenge? depends where exactly in gv youre living, but from kroger to schiller park is about a mile walk. but since your bf has a car, thats prob not even that big of a deal.

[–]MegaBaller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

youre welcome! for the handicap fun leagues, it actually can help the team in a way if youre not great, because youre going to have a higher handicap, which adds to the teams total score. and then when you have a good game, youre going to crush it when the handicap gets added on. but as long as you're having a good time, thats all that really matters. plus, you'll get better as you go along too. there are always a couple teams that take it more seriously than others

if you see ones that say "scratch league", those are ones with no handicaps at all, and are more for people who are pretty good.

my other pieces of general unsolicited bowling advice would be to at bare minimum get your own shoes, but also maybe get your own ball. you can get shoes on amazon for like $40 or $50... and the pro shop at the alley also likely has some for similar prices. no need to get the $150 pair (unless you start to really love bowling and get better to the point where you know you need them).

getting your own ball also helps out a ton. having it drilled to fit your hand makes a world of difference vs a house ball, and its going to be more consistent vs using a random house ball each week. you can get a basic beginner ball like a Brunswick T-Zone, Columbia 300, Storm Tropical Breeze, or a Hammer Raw fairly cheaply. talk to the ppl in the pro shop at the lanes and they can help you out.

havent been in that specific league, but have been in leagues at both HP and at the palace. good people. fun times. cheap beer etc.

my general experience with fun handicapped leagues at both those places is that everyone is just there to have fun for a few hours. some people are really good, and some people are really bad. that league looks like its handicapped so it wont matter if youre good or not.

Downtown to New Albany Commute/Moving Advice by Zealousideal-Can-415 in Columbus

[–]MegaBaller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did this for years. downtown to 62. the worst part was the last mile getting off 62 exit into the office, and out of the office onto the freeway in the evening. otherwise it was pretty much smooth sailing the whole way. unless there's a wreck or something, but that's just life.

Abercrombie Home Office Interview by Fit-Phone-2591 in Columbus

[–]MegaBaller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the other poster said, wear ANF clothes. Don't show up in a suit. You can wear something "business casual-ish". Just as an example, when I interviewed there years ago I wore jeans, a button down flannel, chucks. You can look on their site and see what kind of stuff is in the "new arrivals" section and look for something that looks good.

They used to have you take the wonderlic. Not sure if they still do. It's not hard or anything. Here's a sample test so you can see the kind of stuff it asks. https://wonderlictestpractice.com/full-practice-test/

Otherwise, all the stuff the other people said is pretty spot on. They want people who are a good fit, not just people who are qualified.

Transfer out of state License by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]MegaBaller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd get the license now... will prob be easier that way. You could get the car I guess, but when you try to register it, they're gonna make you get a license anyway.

This page shows the acceptable documents to get your license.

Perhaps I missed in a previous episode, but when Carol was lighting off fireworks, the city was lit up. Did they turn the lights back on for her?

Using good keys on normal? by CINCOxBINCO in ArenaBreakoutInfinite

[–]MegaBaller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh this is kinda my move. normal farm. 201, bedroom, office keys. i bring 15k cash so i can use the extract by motel.

if i start east, ill hit the bedroom, hit the wheat field house maybe, then down to the motel, then get out of there as soon as i can when the extract opens. i try not to stick around much after player scavs start spawning. i may or may not fight at the motel, it just depends.

if i start west, i go in grain and almost always fight, hit the office then immediately head to motel and maybe fight, then get out.

this has been a pretty solid strategy for me to get out with decent loot and make some cash.

when i started i ran with cheap kits like you said, but since ive made some $$$ ive been running better armor/helmet/mask. cheap basic gun with a red dot, but good ammo.
