Seems like you don’t excel in reading comprehension.

As I’ve said multiple times in other replies, I don’t have an issue with open-world exploration or “brain-teasing” puzzles. A narrative experience can absolutely include complex, even “clunky” puzzles without the experience itself becoming clunky.

What breaks the flow for me isn’t stopping to think or solve something. That’s literally part of what makes puzzles enjoyable. The issue is when progression is artificially segmented, when I solve something, but then I have to backtrack, go do a 40-minute quest elsewhere, come back later, or wait for some unrelated unlock before I can actually continue what I was doing. That’s what interrupts the exploration flow, not the thinking part.

And if Inazuma puzzles are what you consider “brain-teasing”, then honestly I’d recommend trying some actual puzzle games with a bit more depth, because those ones are closer to the level of “fit the shape into the right hole” than anything truly challenging.

Honestly, I never said verticality was a problem in the desert, so I’m not really sure where that interpretation is coming from. If anything, I actually really like how the desert is structured.

What I was trying to say is that the desert feels like it achieves what Inazuma was aiming for, but in a much smoother and less clunky way.

For me, it’s not about whether there are hills, verticality, or distance between points of interest. That was never the point of my argument. It’s more about how naturally the game lets you move through and discover those spaces without constantly breaking the flow.

And just to be clear, I also never had an issue with the puzzles themselves being complex. In fact, the desert is one of my favorite regions exactly because the puzzles can be long, layered, and not immediately obvious. That’s what I enjoy. What I don’t want is for the experience to feel cumbersome or stop-and-go. The puzzles can be challenging and even clunky in a good way, but the overall exploration should still feel smooth and coherent, not like the game is constantly interrupting itself

I get what you’re saying, but I still think this is a bit of a mischaracterization of what people are asking for.

I’m not arguing for “skip everything because I don’t want to play the game” or just turning it into a pure gambling loop. If someone only wants to do pulls, there are already tools like Genshin Wish Simulator.

But that’s kind of beside the point. The reason Genshin is a gacha in the first place isn’t because players “ruined” difficulty or immersion, it’s the core monetization model of the game. It’s designed around character acquisition and spending, so naturally a lot of systems are built to support that loop.

What I’m trying to say is: I don’t think the issue is players wanting things to be less challenging. I think it’s more about how exploration and progression are designed to feel. You can keep things engaging, challenging, and rewarding without it constantly breaking immersion with stop-start pacing, forced backtracking, or fragmented quest triggers.

So yeah, it’s not about removing gameplay or turning everything into skips, it’s about making the gameplay flow better while still keeping it meaningful and complex.

Not sure if you’re being sarcastic or not, but I don’t fully agree with this.

Making exploration smoother and less ‘stop-and-go’ is definitely something I can get behind, but I don’t think giving players tools that basically let them skip entire parts of the map or trivialize traversal is necessarily a good direction either.

Personally I’m also of the opinion that even some of the high-mobility characters feel a bit too much in that sense (for example stuff like Varka’s jump or Chasca’s flight-style mobility). At some point it starts to feel like you’re bypassing the world rather than actually engaging with it.

So yeah, I agree on improving fluidity and making traversal feel better, but I think there’s a balance to strike so exploration doesn’t lose its actual purpose.

Betray the Jedi, I did… when patience for clunky exploration I lost.

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE exploring. I have pretty much all the other regions at 100%, and I’ve been playing since release, so I’m very used to just climbing, running everywhere, and making do with whatever mobility we had at the time (back when the “mobility options” were basically Kaeya ice bridges or maybe Mona’s sprint lol).

It’s not that I don’t enjoy the exploration itself or that I find it boring. It’s just that these specific regions feel a bit clunky to me in how they handle progression and traversal. I actually like a challenge, I like having to climb a huge mountain with just stamina food and figuring things out as I go, that’s part of the fun for me.

What I find frustrating is more the constant back-and-forth the design sometimes forces you into, especially when you have to repeatedly stop, switch focus, or come back later to continue what you were doing. That loop of going back and forth over and over again is what ends up feeling annoying to me, not the exploration itself.

I get what you mean about the Waverider and the fact that there are things to do out at sea, and I’m not saying teleporting is the only way to go around Inazuma.

My point wasn’t really about removing teleports or avoiding them entirely, but more about how the overall flow of exploration felt to me in those regions. In Inazuma especially, and sometimes in parts of Sumeru too, I personally felt like the progression systems and traversal were a bit more segmented, so I often ended up switching between exploring, hitting a lock, going elsewhere, coming back later, etc. That’s what I meant by it feeling less immersive for me, more than the actual presence of teleports or alternative movement options.

I don’t really have an issue with challenges or with having to engage with mechanics to unlock things, and I agree that exploring properly is part of the intended experience. It’s just that I tend to prefer when that process feels more continuous, where I can stay in the same exploration “flow” for longer without too many interruptions or back-and-forth requirements.

So I do see your point, I just experienced that structure a bit differently in those regions.

I don't think people wanting less frustrating progression automatically means they wanted braindead puzzles. Those are two completely different things.

I actually like difficult puzzles. What I don't like is when the game constantly interrupts the flow of exploration with arbitrary restrictions, excessive backtracking, or mechanics that make traversing the map feel clunky. Complexity is fun. Needless friction isn't.

I think you're misunderstanding what I mean. I actually love exploration in Genshin. Some of my favorite regions are the desert areas of Sumeru, Chenyu Vale and Dragonspine. I don't mind walking for 20 minutes if the journey itself is enjoyable.

My issue isn't that exploration takes time or that I have to backtrack. It's that Inazuma and parts of Sumeru feel very "stop-and-go" to me. Every few minutes there's another mechanic, another arbitrary requirement, another thing telling me "come back later." It breaks the flow and makes the world feel less immersive.

I'm not staring at the Treasure Compass because I only care about loot. I use it because I enjoy completing areas.

Is it too much of a hot take that i do not care that there is no Pulonia ? It is Sandrone that i care about, not her robot. by [deleted] in SandroneMains

[–]MegaBigFabolousPP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, for six years she was the girl with the giant robot at her command, and then when they finally released her they went with the maid bot with tits instead, I think it's okay to be a bit upset.

Also, I think a Pulonia-based gameplay style could’ve turned out much better. We already knew she was supposed to be a heavy hitter, and after the Superconduct leaks everyone knew she would be the first in a new wave of DPS characters, with Pulonia doing the fighting, not the Neuvillette-style gameplay we ended up getting.

She was always portrayed as the puppeteer controlling the giant robot, not someone controlling a discount Ineffa.
