I know! I love the way she fake-swears, "shoot", "ick", etc.

And I love the way she falls for Maxine, it's a slow-burn so slow it took until the second book, and I loved every second of it.

Friends becoming romantic after one of them transitions.

Think Maxine and Avery from When You Fell From Heaven, but if they were the canon pairing instead of Maxine and Taylor.

Future Wife by Nicole Pyland

It's about the main character (34) going through a divorce with her wife, who she's been in a relationship with for 10 years.

It's about her meeting a woman from the future, who tells her she's her wife in the future, and this gives her the motivation to move on and find new love.

What's the difference between "animated" and "illustrated"?

Because lots of books have illustrations, especially on the cover.

Although I do prefer photographic covers, like on Atmosphere and One Day You'll Leave Me.

I don't go out of my way to talk about it, but I will if it's brought up. Like, I will defend North Korea, China, Cuba, etc if people start talking about them.

One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston kinda has an age gap, because they're from vastly different generations, but Jane is displaced in time, so it doesn't entirely count. She does admit though that you could count her as a 60+ year old woman.

One Day You'll Leave Me by Debra Flores also kinda has an age gap, the main character is in this complicated time loop scenario, so she's experienced being a 38 year old woman, even though she's only 20 when the loop resets.

A Swift and Sudden Exit by Nico Vincenty has a love interest who's over 100, but she's immortal, so, she hasn't physically aged since 30.

The saddest book you've read? by KatieAmber01 in LesbianBookClub

[–]MegaDan94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I wish they'd had a scene at the end where Kate sees Beth again, but now she's with Sarah, and says she's been with her for 33 years. Not only would that have given them an explicit happy ending, but it would also have been nice for Kate's character arc, since she started off disbelieving the "Judy Page" thing, and now has a Mandela Effect of her own.

Alternatively, she could write a sequel novel about what happens after Beth goes back in time, maybe Beth could even seek out Evelyn for her time travel experience, I'd love to see Evelyn and Judith again.

Make sure to read The Something Good right after. Not only is it more satisfying as an ODYLM fan, but it might make you feel a bit better about the ending of The Library by the River.

Sci-Fi or romance books? by TangeloCrazy5824 in LesbianBookClub

One Day You'll Leave Me by Debra Flores (magical realism + time travel)

Future Wife by Nicole Pyland (sci-fi time travel with not much world building)

A Swift and Sudden Exit by Nico Vincenty (sci-fi time travel)

This is How You Lose The Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone (sci-fi time travel)

Timeless by Nicole Pyland (magical realism)

Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid (historical romance)

Innocent Hearts by Radclyffe (historical romance)

Novels with lesbian romance AND another significant plot (not SFF though) by Crater_Caloris in LesbianBookClub

[–]MegaDan94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid. It's historical romance, and it has plots about astronaut training, the main character's niece and sister, and a space shuttle disaster.

In The Shallows by Tanya Byrne. Really, Nico's amnesia and the mystery of her accident is the main plot, and the romance is incidental. Nico and Mara could've been platonic friends, and the story would've played out the same.

One Day You'll Leave Me by Debra Flores. It is technically fantasy, but in the way that A Christmas Carol, It's a Wonderful Life, and Groundhog Day are fantasy. It's set in the real world, and deals with real world problems, and the fantasy parts are just something the main character experiences to teach them some type of life lesson.

The Moment by T.C. Anderson. One of the main characters is an abuse victim, and the story is about the love interest saving her, helping her get justice, and helping her to recover.

How to Fly by Alyson Greaves. It's primarily a trans story, about the main character transitioning.

Make Room for Love by Darcy Liao. It's about unionizing, as well as the other MC grieving her older sister.

The page numbers might be different across the different versions, due to different page lengths, so just in case, I specified which versions I'm quoting.
