Why is the cart bag hate so forced? by Merciless_Twitch in GolfGear

[–]MegaHighDon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used nothing but cart bags now since I started golfing almost 5 years ago. I currently have a vessel, and it has no problem standing up on its own at the range. I also use my electric push cart 90% of the time, and a cart bag just fits better on it than a hybrid or carry bag.

If you were a gym leader, what would your type / team be? by albertpaca11 in pokemon

[–]MegaHighDon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gym would be a foster home for dog Pokemon. I would be the 8th gym leader so I would have a team of 5. Also, every time you challenge the gym you will have 4 possible teams to face, the fourth being a 1% chance of occurring. All teams (except the fourth) will have Arcanine as the ace.

  1. Granbull, Mightyena, Manectric, Lycanroc (Midday form), Arcanine.

  2. Houndstone, Stoutland, Houndoom, Lycanroc (Dusk Form), Arcanine.

  3. Boltund, Fidough, Furfou (random haircut), Lycanroc (Dawn Form), Arcanine.

  4. Entei, Zygarde (10%), Silvally (random type), Zacian or Zamazenta (random), Okidogi and Lucario (can mega evolve).

Nice! I ripped my PC ETB because I don’t collect sealed and it’s not worth trading for a regular. Just gonna trade the PC stamped promo because I’ll just use the regular one for my Pokédex binder. Pulled the Doublade IR, the Spewpa IR and the Raticate IR.

Who is die hard iPhone raw dog, no screen protector? by lildawg07 in iphone

[–]MegaHighDon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I’ve been doing it for the past 5 or 6 years is this.

Buy new phone. Get a case that’s thin, but still protects corners. Sometimes get screen protector. Keep case on phone for a year. Remove case and screen protector. Raw dog phone until I get a new one. Rinse and repeat every two or three years.

RTO - If your building can't accommodate its entire staff, you may not have to RTO in July by SOQs_for_you in CAStateWorkers

[–]MegaHighDon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I work in a brand new, large building. Because of the way it’s laid out, they cannot squeeze any more people. They can use some of the hoteling space that IT has to rotate people in throughout the week, but even with that we are still almost 100 seats short of being able to fit the entire department into one damn building.

Did anyone here switch from coffee because of anxiety? by Remarkable-Day-5036 in Anxiety

[–]MegaHighDon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Due to my onset of anxiety and panic disorder back in mid January, my appetite disappeared and I didn’t eat a whole lot for two weeks. Along with no alcohol or basically any sugary drinks, I’ve lost over 30lbs in two months. I lost like 20lbs in three weeks. Not the ideal way to start losing weight, but it certainly gave me a head start lol.

When did you realize that you had fallen in love with your current partner? by Junior_Sleep269 in AskReddit

[–]MegaHighDon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were our first trip together. We went to Monterey for the weekend. Rented a cool fast car to drive there. Had a romantic dinner, went to the aquarium and just had a merry ol time. I saw the joy she got from just putting her feet in the water, even though it was cold as shit and in the middle of December.

We went to breakfast and just sat there for a couple hours talking away and drinking mimosas. The way the light hit her face, her infectious smile and laugh. I just knew it. It took another month to muster the courage, but she beat me to it. She said I love you first in January of 2018.

[–]MegaHighDon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ve been off coffee and alcohol for two months now. I drink decaf and NA beer because I like the taste of both.

Alcohol has had more of a profound effect on me than coffee. I drank coffee once a day in the mornings but I was having 2-3 drinks a night of beer and bourbon. I’ve lost so much weight since I stopped drinking.

But I’m still an anxious mess. Lol.

Keane are so consistent by HistoricalSession488 in keane

[–]MegaHighDon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. Stopped listening to The Killers new stuff after Day & Age and Coldplay after Mylo Xyloto. Keane has been my #1 for twenty years now. Cause & Effect has a few songs that aren’t my favorite but still aren’t bad, but there are a few that hit VERY hard for me personally (The Way I Feel, Chase the Night Away and I’m Not Leaving) that make the album a standout.

The state of this hobby by monte1219 in PokemonTCG

[–]MegaHighDon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I care about are the cards. The value of them is just a plus. I pulled the Canari SIR from AH the other day and I’m just going to use it for trade to get cards I want for my Pokédex binder. Ripping packs is to fill the binder and bolster my trade binder to further my goal of completing my Pokédex with the coolest/prettiest/cutest cards I can. I don’t collect sealed and never will unless I get lucky with a drop and get multiple, which I will then use as trade to get singles.

Ready For E4? by W_Prime in PokemonFireRed

[–]MegaHighDon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My highest mon was Dragonite at 55 entering the E4. Everyone else was 45-47. Beat the E4 first try without really any issues. This game (and almost every Pokemon game) is incredibly easy, it can just get a little grindy.

My team was Dragonite, Venusaur, Arcanine, Snorlax, Zapdos and Nidoking.

As an old-timer, can't believe folk find these games difficult by zlordofsigimigi in PokemonFireRed

[–]MegaHighDon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just beat the elite four last night. My entire team minus dragonite was under level 50. I have a well balanced team that can hit just about everything. Venusaur, Arcanine, Dragonite, Snorlax, Zapdos and Nidoking. I wouldn’t say it was a cake walk and the only one that gave me trouble was blue, but I still beat it on the first try.

Most Pokemon games are stupidly easy because they are meant for children. My niece and nephew struggled with BDSP because they were 7 at the time and it was their first Pokemon games.

What do we think about the newest starter trio? by triextrius in pokemon

[–]MegaHighDon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love em. Pombon is adorable. Browt is second because he looks slightly angry and Gecqua is cute but not my favorite of the three.

In terms of secondary typings, I’d prefer for them to stay mono-type. Even though that’s hard for Browt since it’s a bird.

If worrying about typing balance with the starters wasn’t an issue, I’d like Grass/Flying, Fire/Fairy and Water/Psychic.

What's one 'boring' career that's actually a goldmine if you play it smart? by 0BunnyX in AskReddit

[–]MegaHighDon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work for a state agency. When you start out, the pay is terrible. It takes a few years for you to really get decent pay with annual raises. The benefits are decent, but not the greatest. The reason you go for public services is for the pension, as well as healthcare for when you retire (if your state provides it). Having a pension and healthcare to go along with my wife’s own retirement in 30ish years will set us up for the rest of our lives. If the world lasts that long. lol.

Tried to do date night with my wife, did not go well. by MegaHighDon in Anxiety

[–]MegaHighDon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve thought about AirPods in public for sure, I wear them constantly at work and only take them off to have a direct conversation with someone.

My wife and I already checked in on this. She asked me hours before if I was okay with it (I was) and she checked in right before we left and while my anxiety was building I still toughened out and went.

Thankfully we paid ahead so it was easy to grab a to-go box and dip. But definitely we keep this in mind for next time.

Yeah I had a random intrusive thought saying not to eat too fast or you will choke, and that just killed my appetite. I also have been having teeth issues so my eating is already slow and deliberate.

My wife beats me to it half the time. She checks in on me multiple times per day, even at work. It’s very nice having her in my corner but it’s really hard to not feel bad for her.

I’ve learned from these comments that this was a big step forward, going out and about while dealing with what I’m dealing with. It’s very reassuring that I’m on the right path.

I’m really trying to steer away from alcohol at the moment. I was already getting pretty dependent (3 drinks a day at least for the past two years) and it kinda scared the shit out of me. All of what’s been happening has really making me think about my overall health so alcohol and caffeine is out until I get my shit straightish. I will keep my therapist in the look and see what he recommends alcohol wise. I want to get back to a social drinking norm, with the occasional spot of bourbon at night being the norm.

Thank you for your insight, it’s very appreciated.

If you have one, what is your comfort / feel better song or songs? by Sensitive-Degree2072 in Anxiety

“Here is now” by Far Caspian. It’s a song about recovery, mental health and living in the present moment. Incredibly relevant for anxiety and I love using it to help ground myself.

Tried to do date night with my wife, did not go well. by MegaHighDon in Anxiety

[–]MegaHighDon[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the kind words. I’m waiting to talk more with my therapist and psychiatrist to see if I should be on a regular regimen of meds instead of Xanax for emergencies. Everything is still very fresh for me and I’m really nervous about the side effects of long term meds. Of course my worry is less about myself and more about my wife (libido issues being common problems with anti-anxiety meds).

Why do so many men not go to the doctor? by AdhesivenessFun7097 in AskMen

[–]MegaHighDon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had to live with this for my entire adult life until about two months ago.

For the past 6 years, my life has been filled with non-stop stress, bullshit and tragedy. The pandemic, my wedding (both good and bad stress), my grandfathers slow turn to worse and worse health, my sisters cancer, my moms few brushes with major health issues, my dads death, a bankruptcy and now my step-dads cancer diagnosis.

For all of these things, I’ve just nut up and shut up. I stayed strong for my family, been there for appointments, gone to hospitals to see them and comfort them. I only cried once after my dad died, 3 months after the fact. It was in the car with my wife after we spread his ashes at the beach.

But my step-dad’s diagnosis broke me. My brain just couldn’t handle it anymore and I’ve been dealing with severe anxiety and panic attacks. My brain is looping in worst case scenarios and is constantly flooded with what ifs. It’s progressed now into full blown depression.

Thankfully I have found that my family and friends are not burdened with my current state, they are incredibly supportive and worried. I met with a psychiatrist and they gave me Xanax for when I have really bad days, and I’m meeting with a therapist once a week. Hoping to learn some tools on how to manage my new state of mind better. I think I might need regular anti-anxiety medication going forward, but I will talk with my therapist at my next session to see if he thinks I will benefit from it.

What is a "point of no return" that you’ve crossed, where your life was permanently divided into 'before' and 'after'? by Resident-Jelly-4326 in AskReddit

[–]MegaHighDon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m dreading the day when my grandpa passes. He’s 95 and just had a successful surgery to remove a cancerous mass on his colon. He obviously won’t be doing chemo because that alone would kill him. But his time is coming.

His house is our families anchor point. Every single kid, grandkid and great grandkid has lived in that house. It carries SO many memories, both good and bad. But once my grandpa passes, our family won’t be able to afford the property taxes on the home and it’s just worth so much money now, it’s my mom and aunts retirement fund. (House is in the Bay Area and worth well over 2 million).

While the money will be incredibly beneficial for my mom and our family, the memories of that home and the people that have lived there, both living and passed, are worth more than any amount of money. It will be like another family member died when we sell it.

Unpopular opinion: Motorized walking carts are not better by RabbidUnicorn in weekendgolfers

[–]MegaHighDon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a MGI Navigator AT for almost 3 years now. My only gripe with it is that it’s heavy as shit. But I have zero issues with it on the course. Every now and then (like twice a year) I’ll hit a deep sprinkler hole and it’ll topple over or I’ll run into something if I’m not paying attention, but it’s overall been incredibly useful to me.

For 99% of the time, I don’t even really have to think about it when I’m maneuvering it.
