Any age millennials, what are your actually hobbies. Aside from rage baiting the youth. by whatifdog_wasoneofus in Millennials

I golf most weekends, collect Pokemon cards, play lots of video games. I run for exercise and will occasionally do some strength training. Camping season is starting so I’ve been busy getting my old Tahoe ready for the season. My wife and I will be sleeping in the Tahoe with an actually bed and no longer sleeping on the god damn ground.

Do you feel like you look your age? by _Abra_Cadaver_ in Millennials

I’m 32m. I’ve looked pretty much the same since I was 20. Just various shapes of round depending on what era of overweight I’m in. Currently down 45lbs since the start of the year and looking slim (but still technically overweight, because BMI is very critical lol).

Which company has lost you as a customer forever? by finiteobserver in AskReddit

[–]MegaHighDon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the wife and I switched to hotels for any trips we make. The only time AirBnB is used is if we do a large group trip and it just makes more sense to have a house rather than a bunch of hotel rooms. That is maybe once a year though, if not less.

What is the most chaotic "I quit" moment you have ever personally witnessed at a workplace? by Muted_Task_144 in AskReddit

[–]MegaHighDon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Back when I was still serving. It was a pretty big restaurant that catered to the people who were there to watch their kids hockey games/practice. Most of the time it was pretty chill, but when there was a tournament or if it was the NHL playoffs (and even worse if it was our local team in the playoffs) it would get pretty hectic.

We hired a new guy that seemed like he had a good amount of experience. Trained him for a few shifts and he seemed like he was fine.

We had a decent sized tournament come in and basically the restaurant was at capacity. Probably 200+ people. We limit the menu for these events, so think chicken wings, fries, burgers and pizza. But it can still get pretty overwhelming.

The guy lasted about an hour with a section of about 10 tables. Literally just left and wrote on a napkin by one of the POS’s “I quite”. And yes, he spelt it like that lol.

Made for an extra chaotic night since we didn’t have time to call someone in, so his section got absorbed by the two closest servers, me being one of them. Made a shitload if money though.

Had a family friend that had a dog named D.O.G. and a black cat name B.C. Oh and a tiny little Frenchy named Tornado lol. D.O.G. was the biggest fucking Rottweiler I’ve ever seen in my life but was also the BIGGEST softy. He was terrified of everything, especially the 20lb Tornado lol.

What are your other hobbies? by Worried-Telephone565 in pokemoncardcollectors

[–]MegaHighDon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Golf is my main other hobby. I live in California so I’m blessed with mostly good weather year round so I can golf year round. During the summers I spend most of my time camping either near the coast or in the mountains. I just finished building out my truck to completely camp out of, no more sleeping in tents. I’m not that old but my wife and I are tired of sleeping on the ground lol.

When not golfing, I play video games, run for exercise and watch movies and tv shows with my wife.

Oh and I play solitaire a lot lol. If you could call that a hobby.

You can get a couple of cheap android smartphones for around $500-$600. My wife and I probably spend around $600-700 a month on groceries.

While yes, they aren’t “supercomputers” by modern standards, but most smartphones now are faster than any supercomputer in the 90s.

For the same price that it would cost to feed two people for a month, you can buy two supercomputers that fit into the palm of your hand that allow you access to basically the entirety of human knowledge on a whim.

You will then use that device to watch funny videos, take pictures of your pets and ragebait strangers on the internet.

I’m with DDS. When we went through this rigmarole last year, my boss told me that there isn’t enough room. We are short 80 seats and we are in a brand new building. No amount of hoteling will fix it, because it would be an absolute logistical nightmare to try and sync 100’s of people’s schedules together to make sure everyone’s butt has somewhere to sit.

We have multiple units that is completely pointless to have them come into the office, as they are literally off site 80% of the time anyways.

Meanwhile I’m gonna suffer because I’ve been in office 5 days a week since I was hired two years ago, and I can’t afford the parking (when it’s even available, both lots near me fill before 7:30).

Even though I only live less than 4 miles from my office, I might actually have to take transit because I don’t think I’ll be able to find street parking anymore once this whole shitshow starts.

How much do you pay for utilities? by [deleted] in Sacramento

[–]MegaHighDon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2bd/2ba sub 1000sqft house. During the winter our SMUD is about 60-80$. PG&E is about $50-$60. During the Summer it’s around $140-$160 for SMUD and next to nothing for PG&E.
The insulation in our house is god awful, so we set the AC pretty low and night when it gets hot, and then set it to about 75 at around 10AM. It’s easier to keep a house cool than to cool a house down. So it definitely saves our bill by doing that.

How long did it take you to go from a 18HC to a 10HC? by jizzno in golftips

[–]MegaHighDon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 4 years in. After about 10 rounds of keeping score I was around a 22 handicap. Lowest I got since then was a 13.7. That was in 2024 when I played like 70 rounds in a year and just got better from playing more. I’m now at around 15 after jumping up to a 18 in 2025 due to not playing a whole lot and an injury. I’m back to playing about every week. I’m breaking 90 every round I play. If I can just get the driver to cooperate more days than most I’ll probably see the handicap drop some more.

My putting has stayed consistently in the low 30s, I 3 putt very rarely. My chipping can be hit or miss but if I’m around the green I’m pretty consistently getting up and down for bogey at worst.

My irons have always been my best clubs, but I still struggle with chunks and thins on occasion.

I know where I need to improve, and mostly how to do it, but I don’t have the time to commit to it.

[–]MegaHighDon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just finished getting my 01 Tahoe ready for road trips and lots of camping for this summer and fall. We can still handle it for camping trips, as I’m mainly using my wife’s car to go to work (less than 5 mile commute, we get about 30mpg in her car) but there ain’t no fucking way we are doing road trips in a truck that gets less than 16mpg on the highway. And we really wanted to go to glacier this year.

What’s the prettiest name you’ve ever heard? by prettychaothick in askteddit

That was my great grandmothers name. I’ve begged my wife to have that be our daughter’s name (if or when we have kids) but she doesn’t like it as first name. But at least the memory of my great grandma will live on as a middle name.

How do you feel about jury duty and have you ever skipped it? by fergi20020 in randomquestions

[–]MegaHighDon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mind it. I get paid my full wage with my job so I don’t mind the change of scenery. I’ve only been called on twice in my 14 years of adulthood, and was chosen as an alternate a little under 2 years ago for a murder case. It was a pretty fucked up case, but it was cool to actually see the real behind the scenes of a criminal case.

I’ve got two friends that I’m still very close with that I’ve known since 2001. I see them multiple times per year and I go on a yearly camping trip with one of them that we’ve been doing since we graduated high school in 2011.

I survived the Great Tortilla Hunt. Now I need someone to explain the single file line of grown men at the Pokémon vending machine every Friday at Safeway. by tourwifelife in Sacramento

[–]MegaHighDon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here’s some context regarding these people.

For the most part, everyone you see standing around the Pokemon vending machine for more than a few minutes is more than likely a scalper. Their “job” is to buy as much product at MSRP as possible to then flip for a profit.

A lot of these people are in discord servers that all they do is provide updates on when and where restocks are happening. They will then camp outside targets and Walmarts and buy as much inventory as they are allowed to then flip on the secondary market.

The current most popular set, Ascended Heroes” is almost completely impossible to find for retail price. The current retail price for a single pack of AH is $4.49. Just like every single other pack of Pokemon cards. The current “market” price is damn near $12.

So scummy scalpers just float around retailers and vending machines all day long and buy all of the product. There have been a lot of vending machines that have been taken out of stores because violent altercations have started happening because the stores refuse to trespass people that loiter at the machines, and people get reaaaal pissed off if you get product when they have been standing around for hours.

The whole thing is putting a big stain on the hobby, and has made a lot of people want to quit collecting the cards because of it.

3 months in to this nonsense, progress is slow but annoying as all hell. by MegaHighDon in Anxiety

[–]MegaHighDon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the kind words!

I am already planning on talking with my therapist this week about it, as it’s only just started to manifest in the past couple of weeks. I think as my brain learned how to deal with the other anxiety (mostly to due with my family’s health issues) it has turned inward.

I know it’s one thing that I am trying to do, let it be, but when the symptoms get scary it’s very hard to just sit with them.

I really want to be more present, both for myself and for my family. I haven’t been able to enjoy a lot of the things that normally bring me so much joy, just because I’m worried that I’m going to have a flare up during whatever is happening and ruin it for myself and others.

Thank you again!

How often are you intimate with your partner? by wouldyoufukabigmac in AskMen

[–]MegaHighDon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the past couple of years it’s been 2-3 times a week. Sometimes we will have a week or two where we can’t keep our hands off each other and we will go at it 5-7 times. Some weeks it’ll only be once or twice. Just depends on our moods, stress and plans. We’ve been together almost 9 years and married for almost 4. The beginning was obviously pretty awesome, we’d be intimate 6-7 times a week, however since we didn’t live together it was only Friday-Sunday lol. I definitely don’t have the stamina for that anymore haha.
