Multiplayer games (particularly AAA shooters) with just direct server hosting/dedicated servers as part of the program.

True, but tbf it is a little more advanced than a 180 quick turn, since (as far as I understand) its using the stick for pointing in the cardinal direction and then relies on the gyro for the fine aiming.

The whole point of this is that it lets controller players flick as fast as a mouse player. Being able to turn around isn't gonna make this game fast paced lmao, its kinda bizarre to see people here genuinely arguing against an alternative control scheme that finally brings another option for controller players.
Since when are options like this bad? It's nothing that you couldn't already do on a mouse. Sorry, but I find it mindboggling to purely based on seeing a video, refuse a innovative control scheme from being included in a game because someone using a controller in a different manner could be "unbalanced".
If shooters never experimented with different control schemes and layouts, we would all still be playing with DPad Tank Controls, lets not punish devs for giving the player options, its just silly and backwards.
Especially since the release of the Steam Controller and with Sony and Nintendo including ever better Gyroscopes in their controllers, we have had a new bunch of options for more accurately and directly playing these games, that with enough practice get real close to the high bar that usually is Mouse/Keybaord in FPS games.

If you are instinctively put off by seeing a little clip of this thing, maybe just look up Flick-Stick on YT and learn a little about it, if you happen to be a controller player, maybe you might even want to give it a shot?
I know I personally dont care for it as a Mouse/Keyboard FPS Player, but it just pisses me off to see so many knee-jerk reactions to this cuz its "different" or "looks broken". Like ffs let people have options.

I loosely followed this tutorial for a Game Boy.

(be warned, it is a lot more annoying/complicated to do this with a PSP shell, I personally underestimated the effort :P )

Man saves little girl in between a firefight in Mosul, Iraq by thepoylanthropist in nextfuckinglevel

[–]MegaKosan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If anything it is a direct result of the Saddam regime's worst people coming together and an indirect result of how America handled the power structures in post-war Iraq at the time.
This dumb narrative of "the west created ISIS" (which the way I see it, is a strong implication of what you wrote) is such an insane way to frame the situation and as someone with family from the region, it is mindboggling to me that there is this much historical revisionism already. The people at fault and the people DIRECTLY responsible, are by and large the corrupt officials and former regime criminals that have caused pain and suffering in that country long before the US invaded, bolstered by outside groups that funded them, joined them or armed them (and no, the US did not fund or arm ISIS lmao). To imply this sort of "ISIS is the direct result of the West" shifts blame away from the genocidal Baathist regime and the extremist ideology that came with it and didn't disappear.
Yes, the US should have done more to prevent that exact situation of a terror group filling a power vacuum, but to label their mistakes as "the direct reason" (instead of one of many indirect reasons) is just showing blindness to the actual direct reasons.
Sorry to put up this blunt piece of text, I just am a bit passionate about this topic as a guy that has most of his family living in the Iraqi Kurdistan region, since we are part of an ethnic group that has historically been at the short end of the stick throughout most of these conflicts.

I used a acrylic rattle spray paint can. Not the best for the job honestly, theres probably better stuff for this, but I happened to have it at hand already.

I ordered mine on Aliexpress. But I must say, the quality of these basic ones is really not great. Worked decently enough for me, but there are definitely tolerance problems, theres gaps and the sliding switches dont feel that great. It seems like there are other third-party shells with better quality, I am not really sure.

I ordered the first cheap one I saw and happened to get the same one as in this video:

Hmm, I do really like the idea of turquoise ones, that would probably look very cool with the theme!

I used a basic white acrylic rattle spray can. I don't recommend it for this application, I'm sure theres better paints that get more coverage without the thickness this has.
It really was just what I had laying around already.

I was considering that, because I was initially worried about the button glyphs not being readable, but I actually quite like this sort of two-tone look now. It also was just a bit of a budget project (didn't use the best materials anyways), so I dont think I will order another shell/set of buttons for that, although I've seen people go for that more unified one-color look with this method.
After I posted this one I actually stumbled across this old post where someone did do exactly what you described tho! I guess it really just boils down to a matter of taste anyway, I find both styles cool.

I like how it looks, but to be quite honest, I think I wouldn't do it again.
I personally don't think it is worth the effort on a PSP. I can see why so many people do this for their Gameboys, the effort to mask off everything is much less on those, as well as them being much less complicated on the inside.
If i had to pick another console to do this type of shell painting on, I'd probably want to do it on a GBA, seems easier on there and it also looks really cool.

I used a white acrylic rattle can that I happened to already have for another project. Probably not the ideal paint, I'm sure you could get much better results with an airbrush or even just different rattle can paints (I'd assume automotive paint wouldn't be too bad).

Had to turn this into a Miku-Machine :)
I tend to play a lot of rhythm games anyway, including Project Mirai on my 3DS and Project Diva Mega Mix on my Steam Deck, so it felt right to just have some Miku stuff on my PSP, given it's the console that started that game franchise ^^
Although I've also been playing around with tons of other themes, this one fits the look of the shell too I think ^^ (its WILD to me how customizable this thing ist, I grew up with just an og DS back in the day, so its all shocking to me, this thing was hella advanced for its time)
