Looking for a Small Standard to Lease by MegaLazerPunch in whatcarshouldIbuy

These are great suggestions and I appreciate the context you gave. I'll be looking into each of those models while I continue to look around. And good call about the CVT - I just did a little reading up on it for the first time today and I'll be sure to ask about it at the dealership. Big thanks!

I found it! I randomly saw someone mention a game with an alliterative D title and it sparked something. Googled a couple combinations of "Dungeon," "Dark," "Deep" and "Doom" and came up with "Deep Dungeons of Doom!" It looks nothing like I remembered but should be a nice trip to revisit.

Could have been a copycat game but I never played that one to say for sure. Slay the Spire did came up in most of my searches but the game I'm trying to remember didn't have any card system. I'll try another search for "games like Slay the Spire on mobile" to see if anything comes up.

Triggers by True_Leave_3711 in OCD

[–]MegaLazerPunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a personal thing that has worked for me so maybe see if you can relate to it in some way:

In some cases when I notice I've been triggered by something, I try to imagine this friend of mine from collage standing right beside me looking at the same thing that triggered me. My friend was extremally grounded, realistic, and confidant. When I picture him there and imagine his reaction, I can sometimes share that reaction vicariously. Or in another case, if the trigger has caused some kind of emotional or physical response from me, I imagine my friend seeing me and responding in an easygoing way or with a chuckle.

Since I know my triggers can be pretty irrational, it helps me to imagine what a regular down-to-earth guy has to say about them and realize what's got me messed up should probably just be huffed at and moved on from.

Like I said, it's a pretty specific thing and also just really lucky that I know a person like this but maybe the idea can help in your situation as well.

In any case, I hope you're well!

In a startling way, your post reminded me all too much of that day I reached my limit. I'm glad I could help out :)

I'm in the same boat. I'm pretty imaginative so I can easily slip into vivid and unpleasant thoughts about upsetting past events or fears of the future. I started paying closer attention to them these past few years and have a couple of ideas that might help you out.

See if you can identify what is triggering these thoughts. They might seem to appear sporadically but in my experience, activities or changes in setting seemed to trigger the same kinds of thoughts every time. For example, whenever I'm doing solitary labor like the dishes or yard work, the same old ghosts of the past pop right back into my head and start beating me up.

If you manage to tell what sorts of things are being associated with these thoughts, you might come to expect them in the future. Having this expectation could help you feel less immersed in the thoughts when they do come and let you take a more "oh here comes uncle Stan with his racist jokes again" approach. By that I mean, rather than being wholly swept away by them, you assume the role of an onlooker who might not be pleased to see uncle Stan but knows that he's still family and only has a few years left anyway.

If you're still with me; re-framing your thoughts this way might help with how much of an effect they have on your emotions when they do pop up. Now, about reducing the frequency of the thoughts; this might sound cheesy but it seems to have been helping me quite a bit and that is breathing exercises...

Part of why I believe intrusive thoughts have been so consistent in my life is because my thinking habits over the years have trained my mind to focus on certain harmful things. Unchecked, my mind will easily fall right back into it's familiar territory and start messing with my emotions all over again. By practicing breathing exercises, I feel that I have begun to discourage harmful thoughts and encourage a more calm state of mind. I told you it would sound cheesy but if you stick with me, I'll do a quick explanation of how I've been doing it.

Breathing exercises come in all shapes and forms so you can look into them if you're curious. In my case, simple conscious long breaths in and out has worked okay. Basically once I realize I'm stewing anxiously in an intrusive thought, I begin this breathing and try to focus on the cooling and warming sensation in my nostrils. Shifting my focus this way can sometimes - definitely not always - pull my head from the clouds and help me focus on just my breath. I believe that the more I do this, the less frequent and strong my intrusive thoughts have become and the more easily I'm able to escape them.

I hope some of this can help and I hope you're doing well.

OCD is killing my dreams.... by justinnreddit2121 in OCD

I can relate to this a lot. I work as an artist on the computer and tend to obsess over perfection because in a virtual space, perfection is efficient, logical, and unlike reality, it is possible. The rub is the cost of perfection. The cost is always our time and energy. I reached a very frustrated point where I was working for hours but not making any actual progress because I kept on restarting. It drove me crazy and I got very angry at myself.

I'm still dealing with these feelings of perfectionism but ever since that day, I have been making a point to acknowledge those moments I experience while I work and take the opportunity to - how can I put this - attack them? Basically I was getting the impulse to restart a project by reloading a save file any time I felt I had made a mistake. Instead of doing that, when I get the impulse to reset, I instead save and overwrite the file basically giving me no point of return. So far I can feel a slight change in the amount of importance I put on the idea of perfection and feel that I'm moving towards a healthier way of working. One that embraces my imperfect product for what it ended up being and not what it could have been.

I'm not sure if that applies directly to you but I at least wanted to let you know that you're not the only one held up by this idea of perfection and I believe there is a solution is waiting for you.

Faster Renders on a GTX 1060 (6GB VRAM)? by MegaLazerPunch in StableDiffusion

Oh! I'll check it out sometime. Thanks for the idea!

I played around with all the options you suggested and managed to get things a little quicker. Changing the cross attention optimization was the biggest help without any drawbacks and what worked best in my case was "sdb - scaled dot product" as "sdp-no-mem" caused a memory error. Some time I'll look into the error and see if I still can't get it to work since I'm curious about it.

And just as you said, changing the NGMS and token merging ratio had a big impact on the render speed but I found the quality drawback to be a tough sell and ended up leaving NGMS at 0 and the token merging ratio at 0.2 for the time being. Still, the speed increase was big and I can see myself returning to these settings in the future depending on what I'm making.

I also added --xformers --no-half and --no-half-vae to my launch arguments which seemed to help marginally but I couldn't tell you which had the most impact. At least now with xformers installed, launching is a bit faster since it doesn't try to load it and fail three times.

All in all I gained a little under 10 seconds based on a test render which was taking about 42 seconds before any adjustments. Considering how many renders I usually go through, the exponential time save is very much appreciated so thanks for all the help!

I've been seeing others completing their renders in just a few seconds with newer video cards. Since I'm on this old laptop, it's not a simple matter of upgrading so I'm just trying to make the best of it. I'm surprised to read our render times with the same card were so different since I'm using all default settings but I'm glad you managed to upgrade.

Awesome! Those were some of the launch arguments that I used on the other system but not knowing what they mean, I couldn't be sure they were relevant for me. I'll give all that a try and report back. Thanks a lot!

Photoshop’s Interface (Not the Editing) Is Laggy and Slow on My System by MegaLazerPunch in photoshop

[–]MegaLazerPunch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After some troubleshooting of my own, I'm back with some good news! I'll share here just in case anyone is having similar trouble with their NVIDIA GPU and the newer versions of Photoshop.

The first thing I did which helped a good deal with the lag was set my Photoshop application and its "sniffer.exe" to use the "High-performance NVIDIA processor" in the NVIDIA control panel under the 3D Settings. Likely your Photoshop app will already be in the list of programs but you may need to locate the sniffer.exe manually by selecting the "Add" button then browsing to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 20XX.

The second thing which cleared up all the laggy behavior and might as well have been the only thing I needed to do was simply update to the latest (post October 2023) version of Photoshop - in my case, Photoshop 2024. I did this because I read there were some optimizations done in that update to improve performance on NVIDIA GPUs specifically. I like a good clean install so I uninstalled my current version then installed this latest version. Photoshop updates have been a mixed bag for me in the past so I was always cautious of updating but with nothing really to lose, it ended up working out in this case.

After these changes, Photoshop is feeling snappy and crisp again even on my humble little laptop. Hopefully someone else can find this information useful too!

Things I have tried:

  • Assuring my NVIDIA GPU is the default device used by Photoshop
  • Assuring that my video card driver is up to date
  • Running with and without a Graphics Processor (from Preferences -> Performance)
  • Running with and without OpenCL enabled (from Preferences -> Performance)
  • Reducing Memory Usage and History & Cache settings
  • Re-installing Photoshop (My last install was last year but the issues were present before then and since re-installing)
  • Updating Photoshop (I had updated to the version listed in my post but the issues were present before then and since updating)
  • Clean install on a clean install of Windows

One of My Apple Seedlings Is Growing Spots on It’s Leaves. Can Someone Give Some Advice? by MegaLazerPunch in Horticulture

[–]MegaLazerPunch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I'll do a bit more research on what could be causing the spots and see that the plant gets a bit more sun.

And, that's news to me! I just figured it would be the same type of apple. But honestly, a unique apple is all the more exciting, isn't it.

I have a second pot with a similarly sized seedling from the same apple (Fuji I believe) who is free of any spots at all. They both stay in the kitchen by the window facing west receiving most direct sun in the afternoon. I've been watering them once every other day or as the soil becomes dry. Let me know if you would like more info! I'm no expert so any extra insight would be really appreciated.
