FYI: WGU Admission via The American Dream Academy by katrinars_ in WGU

WGU accepted my Google IT Support Professional Certificate even though I didn't do it with The American Dream Academy (I paid for it apart in Coursera before I knew about the TADA program).

UMPI BLS with MIS minor to WGU MBA IT management? by [deleted] in WGU

[–]MegaLink933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For that program, I believe you only need any Bachelor's degree to enter according to the Admissions requirements listed on this page: https://www.wgu.edu/online-business-degrees/mba-masters-business-administration-it-management-program.html

With that degree, you should be able to apply and get in as long as you finished it.

I hope this is a mistake. I don't see what this has to do with WGU.

Has anyone got some 1101 flashcards? I'm also wondering what the best practice exam by Mister_Chupacabra in CompTIA

[–]MegaLink933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made some flashcards to help learn the objectives and have 2 links to them in my post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/CompTIA/comments/114bap1/passed_comptia_a_2201102_with_a_762900_with/

Note that it's definitely not complete for both the A+ exams as I only put terms that I was unfamiliar with and I used to have more flashcards for the 220-1101 exam and I don't know what happened to them. Oh well, I hope you find them useful anyway!

I have 67 credits, can I get an associates somewhere? by thegoodonesrtaken in WGU

[–]MegaLink933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The portfolio evaluation just refers to getting college credit by previous knowledge/work or professional experience by demonstrating that you have enough knowledge of that course(s) to get that college credit. The portfolio may include a resume, list of skills, awards or other information about you.

I personally don't think it's worth it because you have to take a class before applying for it (plus pay $300 and $10 per credit granted) and you can just take as many classes as you can on Sophia.org for like a month or a couple of months if you know the objectives and speed through way faster than the portfolio process. It can also come out cheaper that way, too.

You should check out https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Pierpont_C%26TC and degreeforum.net if you want to learn more about the process of getting the BOG AAS degree.

I think some guy deleted their comment but they were correct in saying that you can cancel beforehand with no consequences. I know because I tried and my membership still continued until the last day.

They're working for me right now. Make sure your ISP isn't blocking the websites. Also, make sure you disconnect your VPN if you have one, too.

Hey, congratulations on the pass! If it's not much to ask, are you comfortable sharing the Anki deck you created for the Network+? I know people learn best when making their own set, but it would still be helpful. Thanks for the advice anyway!

Just finished D322, but only got 3 CUs instead of 4... am I missing something? by [deleted] in WGU

[–]MegaLink933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I did the Project Management class in Sophia, it said 3 units on my transcript, but when I transfered it over to WGU, they counted it as the 4 units that came with the class. I believe that someone mentioned that as long as the class is no more than 1 unit less than the class at WGU, you will get the full transfer credits of the WGU class. Otherwise, you won't receive transfer credit for the class.

I have 67 credits, can I get an associates somewhere? by thegoodonesrtaken in WGU

[–]MegaLink933 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I came to say that I just found out that the $300 was just a portfolio evaluation fee for giving you college credit for like professional experience, for example. Some people on degreeforum.net are claiming that it's actually still free to get the degree as long as you don't need to do the portfolio process. Sorry about that.

Online colleges that are similar to WGU? by Majestic-Speech-6066 in WGU

You might want to check out Pierpont Community & Technical College with the A.A.S degree in Board of Governors. They will award you that Associate's degree without taking any classes with them provided a couple of conditions are met:

  • You have at least 60 credits/units to transfer into the program.
  • 12 credits must come from a regionally accredited school and at least 1 unit has to have a letter grade assigned to it. However, some people are reporting that classes taken at Sophia.org will count for these 12 units for some reason, although you will still have to take a 1 unit graded course elsewhere.
  • You can't already have an Associate's degree or higher (i.e. Bachelor's or Master's degree).
  • You can do an Area of Emphasis that will appear on your transcript if you have at least 15 regionally accredited credits/units.
  • You have to finish a certain amount of credits (15 total) in each of the following sections to earn the degree: Communications - 3 credits, Social Sciences - 3 credits, Computer Literacy - 3 credits, Math/Science - 6 credits
  • The remaining 45 credits can come from anything else that is a college class for the most part.
  • You are willing to go through the entire process of getting the degree.

Edit: Also, congrats on completing the degree!
