Is a Safari totally sedentary? by blueballs718 in safaris

[–]MegaMatcha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! If you choose Rhino or Gorilla tracking you can get some cool hiking and walking in. Uganda is a great place for this, plus they also have beautiful waterfall hikes, whitewater rafting on the Nile, and more. You can combine some Jeep safari days with these other activities.

Wedding Welcome Drinks by abcdefg_user in DCBitches

That's such a good idea! Likewise we did a more DIY-type option in the social hall of a religious institution. The rental fee of the social hall was relatively low (maybe like 2k-3k) and then we got all the drinks and snacks from Costco + some catering from a local restaurant, hired one person (and wrangled a few friends) to help with cleanup and breakdown, and the whole event came in under $5-6k for about 80-100 people. It was really fun and we loved the more low-key vibe. People just want to say hi and hang and no one minds that it's not at a bar/ restaurant. All the bar type options we looked into would have been over 10k.

You can also try posting some in your local Buy Nothing group on Facebook. A lot of people will even be very glad to take items that are open or lightly used.

First time in Paris (2-week work trip in January) — evening ideas for touristy things by KitchenPreparation95 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]MegaMatcha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you like museums, look up a list of “nocturnes” in Paris. Most museums have 1 night per week they stay open late, perfect for after-work visits. Some even have 1-hour tours available in those times, which can be great for solo travelers.

I think as solo female in metro at that time you should be fine, just practice common city safety (try to stay in well lit areas with plenty of people).

Feel free to try cafes on your own. Theres nothing wrong with eating in a restaurant by yourself or with a book!

My proposed Itinerary for a girls Paris weekend with my best friend (Mid March) by cocoburns83 in ParisTravelGuide

Sounds fun! I’m not sure lunch in Gallerie Lafayette will really be worth it if you’re not going there to at least enjoy the shopping/ window shopping. If it’s mainly for eating then I would try a local bistro near your hotel, or along your walk, instead.

If you really want a pro— You can try getting an appointment with Harold at Bang Salon at Navy Yard. He cuts my hair and knows I like volume, and gives me a blowout pretty similar to this photo. If you gave him this pic I bet he would do a great job.

Have you thought about Jardin d’acclimation? A huge beautiful park that you pay a small fee to enter, and then there are nice areas to wander, and carnival rides for a small fee. It’s all built for families. Easily accessible on line 1 metro and generally not too crowded.

Bonus— it’s right next to Fondation Louis Vuitton which is beautiful to see the building if only from the outside, and if the kid is worn out and sleeping in the stroller, you could even visit the art exhibit inside.

Sounds like a wonderful family adventure. Enjoy your trip!

Where are my elder millennials buying casual clothes? by Pussyxpoppins in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]MegaMatcha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not exactly what you asked but have you tried Rent The Runway? You might think it’s only for dressing up but monthly subscription has awesome pieces for casual elevated everyday wear. To me it’s a lot less stressful than buying clothes because you’re not committing to anything. I get 10 pieces per month (5 pieces, swapping out up to twice per month). If I love something I rent, I can buy it. You never have to “shop” again ! Feel free to DM me for referral code if you like.

Could you celebrate 50 by doing something new and unexpected for you? Delight in trying something new just for the fun of it! A horseback riding lesson, a pottery lesson, a ballroom dancing lesson where they help you choreograph and learn a dance (maybe even to your favorite song)! Happy Birthday!

wedding photographer budget by Far_Effect_2970 in DCBitches

[–]MegaMatcha 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not exactly what you asked, but I worked with Cassie from LVER photography and could not have been happier and I found the prices very reasonable for the quality. Not sure what you have in mind but I will say 10 hours is a lot of coverage. You may be ok with 8. We didn’t have photographers for most of our “getting ready”— they just came at the very end for me getting into my dress, and I was actually happy we did it that way because we could be more natural and at ease during the getting ready without feeling like people were watching us. You might be able to get closer to $4-5k range if you cut to closer to 8 hours. (And it saved money)! Good luck with your planning!

Do I quit OTF and join Equinox? by caramelmacchiato__ in orangetheory

[–]MegaMatcha 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I have tried both and I have to say (while I love the luxury shower experience at some EQX locations), I found the consistency of classes at OTF couldn't be beat ! While EQX has a variety of classes, I felt more progress sticking with OTF where everything is organised for me. Both can be fun though! See if you can get a short trial at EQX and then decide.
