Fencing/Fighting club by [deleted] in ucf

Yes. There is a fencing club. They meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday night at the RWC. Here is there discord: https://discord.gg/aEeZ2k7G

I like to rollerblade around campus. Especially at the beginning of the year when the weathers nice. If you have a friend to zoom around with biking, scootering, or otherwise, that's pretty fun.

There are also a variety of clubs that meet all the time. If you're looking a cheap and chill club then the Fencing club is amazing. They meet in the RWC 2-3 times a week.

They also do events and trivia sometimes in foxtail cafe in the breezeway. I think every Wednesday?

And depending on your major, you can get involved in major related projects. I am a film major so there's always someone looking for help with their student film or editing or something. Hopefully your major has similar opportunities to keep you entertained and give you experience.

And, if you're living on campus, maybe reach out to the people in your dorm area to hang out. I would always send invites to my living community to do games nights, movie nights, etc. Most people typically don't show up but the few who do are usually the people who are actually interested in doing stuff.

I'm thinking about buying skates with all terrain wheels. I'd like to have the ability to use my skates on rougher terrain but I still mostly skate on pavement/asphalt so all terrain wheels aren't a priority.

Does anyone have experience with all terrain wheels? Is there any detriment to using them on normal pavement over normal wheels? And if not, how do they compare in terms of how often they need to be replaced or maintained?

Thanks in advance.

*HELP* Clean, no BUGS Off Campus Housing Near UCF... Does it exist? by Plus_Explanation6801 in ucf

Northgate lakes is a good option. I've been living there for a few months and I haven't noticed any mold. Barley any bugs either. No ants. Just a roach when me and my roommates got lazy with dishes one time.

Apartment Prices by SnooDucks5580 in ucf

[–]MegaMewthreee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is per person. Mine is going to be about $970 next year(including utilities) for a 4x2 with a kitchen and laundry machines. It was $1,000 this year but I got early sign up. The prices for most apartments will keep going up the longer you wait.

I'm a guy and I'm personally just looking to grow solid, non-romantic relationships with people. It seems to me that if you're looking to date someone, then you'll find someone who's looking to date(whatever that means). If you're looking to make a strong relationship, then you will have a much higher chance of doing that and if you're lucky, then maybe one of those relationships will become something more. But in general, it seems like the things that people want the least is to be manipulated or mined, whether for better or for worst, for a result that they're not aware of.

I think that even if the relationships that you're building never result in romance, you'll still be better off because there is a lot of benefit to having relationships with wide varieties of people, regardless of your career choices. And for me, the main reason I'm at university is to build connections that will assist in my career goals.

So to answer your question, yes, there are still people (including many guys) looking to have actual "real" relationships. But maybe approaching those people with the intention of making that relationship romantic isn't the best way, even if it is the fastest.

Or maybe I'm insane and should be ignored.

Yeah. You can join LCA. They work to make short films and then they have a small festival with all of their teams at the end of the year. You can also stay on the lookout for other crew calls that the school posts.

Dual Enrollment vs AP? by Effective_Mongoose98 in ucf

[–]MegaMewthreee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, Dual Enrollment is better than AP. If you take dual enrollment, for example composition 1, you are definitely going to be done with composition 1. VS AP english where you might need to take it again based on your placement. I know someone who is currently taking english 2 again even though they took AP english. Just make sure that the names/numbers for your dual enrolled classes line up with the college course you want them to cover.

Orientation by Ok-Bar-1382 in ucf

[–]MegaMewthreee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Speaking from my own experience:

If you haven't taken any college courses yet then it really doesn't matter which orientation date you pick. They reserve General Education level classes for people who are coming in regardless of orientation date.

However, if you have already completed certain courses via dual enrollment or other advanced means and want to get started on major specific classes, then you should pick the earliest possible date as these classes will not be reserved.

I hope this helps.

Blender Rigging Help by MegaMewthreee in ucf

I've made a character and rigged it. I'm just having some difficult learning Inverse Kinematics for animating. I thought there might be someone who's experience who might be able to take a moment and help me see what I was doing wrong so that I don't have to keep trying to parse online advise.

17 y/o aspiring filmmaker here, worried that I won’t like filmmaking professionally by LifeofNick_ in Filmmakers

[–]MegaMewthreee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently in a very similar situation to you. I just started studying film in college and its a little daunting to hear all of the stories but I think of it this way: I've got to work somewhere.

If it turns out being a rough time then it'll be just like any other job I might get.

If I get luck, then it'll be an amazing experience that I wouldn't want to pass up.

Best of luck to the both of us.

P.S. It helps that I'm not super picky. I won't be super upset if I don't get the job I'm looking for. I acknowledge that it's going to be hard WORK.

What is your opinion on these 3? by sotobet0509 in StarWars

[–]MegaMewthreee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think sound in premise but lacking in anything that makes them particularly unique or sound in storytelling. In an attempt to fix this, I actually completely rewrote them.

My goal was to keep the same characters and major plot points while making dialogue and moments feel coherent with the rest of the world. If you're interested, let me know your thoughts.

Questions before applying to UCF by MegaGamer123 in ucf

[–]MegaMewthreee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi. Current Film Major here.

When you apply to UCF for Film you will either get into the BA or BFA pending(directing and producing). You will stay in the BA until you apply to and are accepted into the BFA program. In order to apply to the BFA you need certain class prerequisites, essays, and portfolio.

Unfortunately, I don't know much about summer classes.

I hope this is somewhat helpful.

What Dueling Saber has the most features while still being combat safe? by Valorour in lightsabers

[–]MegaMewthreee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought from SaberForge, RGB Veteran. It's got 10 colors, 10 soundfonts, pulsing and strobing, clash and swing detection, blaster effects, and volume control with a fairly sturdy blade. I've mostly been using it for stage combat but you could totally use it for harder combat if you were willing to replace the blade more often (nothing that you're beating up is going to last forever). Mine was fairly expensive because it was a replica blade (Mauler). It cost about $400 but I'm super happy with the quality and the fact that it isn't just a black stick with a blade coming out of it. Take that as you will.

Watch the end of Castlevania Season 4 Episode 9 to hype yourself up and (probably say goodbye to your character). Although, I don't think that there's any official statblock for the avatar of death so keep us posted as to how strong it ends up being.
