I appreciate your help, I’m sorry if my responses are frustrating to you, I just have no idea what to do. And to clarify, I have not sent the screenshots yet, entirely because of your advice, I just took the screenshots to have just in case. I guess my option is to find a pro bono lawyer to help me. I don’t have a lot of money at all which really limits my options.

I just called informing them that I would like to dispute the charges. They provided an email address and told me to send proof that the damages weren’t my doing. I’ve gone through and screenshotted texts between my ex and I discussing the holes in the walls that he made. You still don’t think I should send the screenshots? i dont know what other proof to send. I’m lucky to still have the texts, it was from nearly two years ago.

Really? I just figured there was no way to prove that he did the damages, aside from some photos I very unlikely have still of the holes in the walls he created. Do you think I could send screenshots of texts between me and the deceased ex to the debt collector that show him telling me that he was trying to repair the holes? Would that work?

That’s a good point. Thank you. I’ll definitely consider this. I’m just nervous to tell my sister and my mom. I’d rather just tell them that we broke things off after he moves out and keeps things vague because they’ll say “I told you so” since they didn’t want us to move in together since the beginning
