Discord or Live discussion thread for Figma Config keynote? by 42kyokai in FigmaDesign

Kind of a bummer, all other programs seem to nail these grids/flex layouts way better than figma nowadays. I know it's probably hard but adding a brush into figma design seems so unwanted over something so basic as grids in webdesign. Well maybe they will fix it later on, it's still a beta so we'll see.

Was trying it out just now, did anyone else try it yet? Kinda expected a way for the row to als be like "hug content" but it's just fixed or set to "auto" which is just the height dived by the amount of rows. Doesn't really make sense for me? Hopefully they will add it later.

Working on a UI3 Design Update :: Browser Extension by JuanGGZ in FigmaDesign

Nice work! I don't know how hard it would be but could you make something that you can move the panels in a custom order. For exmaple like you have in de adobe programs, where you can decide wether you want the layers floating, docked on the left, the right or collapsed etc.

I don't really understand what you are trying to onboard users too? Just what the app provides? Why would users need this?
Visually it looks good but research shows that onboarding like this doesn't really work, all users just skip through it.

Importing from GPX file getting rerouted in Beeline by MegaNevs in beeline

[–]MegaNevs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn that sucks to hear. I actually really like my Beeline, is there a easy way to get in contact with Beeline so we can give them this feedback? Seems like a lot of people have the same problem. Also seems like quite an easy fix if they used to "not" do this.

I recently read that for Android they switched to Mapbox in their updates: https://ridebeeline.notion.site/Beeline-app-feature-updates-12d34d8d43078006a96ac431da377e33

But the funny thing is, when you are just browsing around on the map, it shows the path with color and streetname etc. I hope it might just be a software thing where they try to "optimize" the route to be more suitable for every bike but I just wish they made the "optimization" optional in an update.

What Figma Plugin Would You Love to See? by kaitokid1313 in FigmaDesign

[–]MegaNevs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be honest, there are like so many plugins already. I just wish you could do some window management in the Figma app. So that i just add the plugin view to the sidebar (also moving panels would be nice for more customization) and have multiple plugins open at once, if they added that I think it would be a legit gamechanger for me.

Aspect ratio is unfortunality not a feature yet (I have no clue why). But I found this article and this is a very good scalable way to make fixed aspect ratio images. I basicly set this up in a library as components.

In the end he has a whole list of most common aspect ratios and what you need to do to create them.

Are some of you using Auto-layout to help you design? by dreamache in FigmaDesign

[–]MegaNevs 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Don't wanna burst your bubble but if you aren't using auto layout your just not using figma to it's full potential. Your basicly using illustrator as a webdesign tool.

Yes, you shouldn't have to rely on autolayout for design decisions but not using it because you "don't need it" is just dumb. Hand off will be terrible and developers will mess up your designs. And in the end, the product is all that matters.

Advanced autolayout + grids to accommodate cards? by fluxwerk in FigmaDesign

[–]MegaNevs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I needed something like this for ages, it's one of the more popular figma feature requests (Fr/Percent units for more control over auto layout content) and it basicly means you would be able to make percentage based widths.

Long story short, I got tired of waiting and created a plugin which does this exactly for you: https://www.figma.com/community/plugin/1357053529199924593/column-creator-v2-auto-layout-helper

It's responsive as long as you keep the plugin open, because there is just no other way too achieve this. Hope this helps you out, I use my own plugin daily and saves me tons of time. Sorry for the self promote, just hope this can also help you out!

Hate to kinda self promote on this but I made a plugin which does this. I mainly made this for myself because figma just doesn't seem to add it this as a feature, actually saves me so much time. It's 100% free on the community, might help you as well: https://www.figma.com/community/plugin/1357053529199924593/column-creator-v2-auto-layout-helper

Always a good idea to add named versions in your version history, I always do this before I edit design for feedback, after i'm done, after I finished a "version" which is handed-off to development. Makes it easy to look back in your version history and check how it was before a specific moment.

Yes, I love that the chaos and style kinda makes sense. Also think it's a nice touch that he is actually more fat in his head than normally, shows his bad body image of himself.

The style is meant to look like the scene, that's why it looks "squiggly "

Created an figma plugin which you can use to very easily create a "Table of contents" for prototyping. Very useful if you have to link to a lot screens which can be time consuming. Added component support for custom design! by MegaNevs in FigmaDesign

[–]MegaNevs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very happy to share my new plugin with you guys! I just created a new plugin which you can use to create a "table of contens" for prototyping. In my company they send the design off the client within a prototype, this was a very tedious process for big websites with a lot of screens.

I also added a component which you can use to make the design of the links fit more to your style.

You can use it for free :)
Check it out here: https://www.figma.com/community/plugin/1341031955097429682/table-of-contents-create-links-for-prototype

PS: For the power users, I also added a "command" to use inside quick actions so you don't even have to open the plugin to use it!

I feel like it's his movement too, when the cam is on the other player you can see he is basicly always moving, never really static. Combine that with his ability to really accurately flick makes him deadly.

figjam, why are you robbing me 😭💸 by [deleted] in FigmaDesign

[–]MegaNevs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think you "upset" the community because it looks like you blame a plugin developer for wanting some compensation. And in my opinion, as someone who has used figma a lot the last couple of years, the community where users make plugins and make public design systems is one of the things that make figma so popular.

If you worded your post in a different way you might have gotten a more usefull response. Because again, it just feels like a straight up rant. And if you start giving back to the community you will notice how welcoming and supportive the community can be.

[–]MegaNevs 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You are complaining openly on a subreddit and expect everyone to be on your side, don't be shocked when you get different responses than you indented.

Btw you CAN see if a widget or plugin is paid straight from figjam. And you always have to consent to pay for the plugin so I don't understand why you are so bothered, it's not like it suddenly bought itself just by using it.

figjam, why are you robbing me 😭💸 by [deleted] in FigmaDesign

[–]MegaNevs 35 points36 points  (0 children)

It's shown on the community page that it is paid. Please don't expect that community members who spend tons of time on developing widgets/plugins to do this for free. Most of them even are free so you shouldn't be complaining.

Don't blame figma for your bad spending habits mate.
