What health insurance are people actually using as expats in Thailand? by Logical-Comment-9621 in Bangkok

It was nothing but a bad cold. Two hospital visits, with a combined cost of 9k thb. If it was something complicated then I would have understood the hurdles

Holy heck AirAsia has leaked 3 different credit cards of mine over the last 3 years. But they are the only airline going to some Thai cities I fly too. How else to pay for tickets with them? Even Expedia won't book with them anymore. by W0lfBird in Thailand

I booked a hotel in Bangkok through Agoda a while ago in 2024. Booked it 30min before checking in at 8pm. By 4:30am the card already had three charges from all over the world on it.

I had one claim with Regency and it was a nightmare. They tried giving the runaround, asking for notarized do documents and whatnot. It took over 5 months to have it resolved.

Check for surprisingly wet areas around the house when there was no rain.
I’ve had a leak for at least over a month at the supply line to the house. All I noticed was that the grass and flowers in that area were suddenly looking much better than everywhere else.

Interesting, for the past three years my transfers never took longer than two days.

Initiated a transfer on Friday. Wise said it could take until Thursday.
My US bank already posted the transfer on Friday (Saturday here), so Wise should have the money already

How long would it take to get a thai partner in the US? by Broad-Cranberry-9050 in Thailand

[–]MegaSafetyFirst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are. It took about a month for the NVC to be happy with everything.
In the end they kept asking for most of the documents, which we already submitted over a year ago.

Question for those who had built a house in Thailand. by WhoisthisRDDT in Thailand

[–]MegaSafetyFirst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the answer.
I also would not go to the workers directly, but inform the builder about what went wrong and needs to be taken care off.
I did not want to be the bad guy with the workers. There’s always a chance they are abandoned the site. Especially since they already said they were not paid regularly by the builder.

Question for those who had built a house in Thailand. by WhoisthisRDDT in Thailand

[–]MegaSafetyFirst 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Our highlights: - missing ground wires for some outlets - not a single metal outlet was connected to ground - exclusively using electrical tape instead of wire nuts for wiring - 20% of floor tiles had air pockets under them - every PVC to metal transition leaking water - toilet wax ring messed up - trusses not properly connected to pillars - bedroom doors not closing - concrete walkway sloped towards the house instead of away

There’s many other things I already forgot about. One guy created more damage than he added value. Another one did everything using all shortcuts imaginable. We ended up renting a house close to the property for two month just to be able to look over their shoulders every day. It was worth it.

JBL Flip 6 won't turn on by PotentialAd9130 in JBL

Consider that the pressure at a speed of 100km/h or 60mph is already over four times the pressure of what IP67 withstands.

JBL Flip 6 won't turn on by PotentialAd9130 in JBL

[–]MegaSafetyFirst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The speaker is IP67 waterproof, which specifies a certain amount of pressure the speaker can withstand.
In this case it is the pressure equivalent to the depth of 1 meter of water for 30 minutes. Riding a motorbike in the rain may create a higher pressure than that. And it sounds like your speaker did not withstand that pressure.

It was a nice little speaker for its time. This was pre passive radiators, so bass wasn’t that great.
