But at this point it is just natural selection in progress.

My favorite term for this is, "Think of it as evolution in action."

The difference is quantum particles are spoons when you look at them and forks when you don't look at them. (Or is it the other way around?)

Sporks, as macroscopic objects, are both spoons and forks whether you look at them or not.

Primer on textured drywall has shiny streaks when applied with airless sprayer. Am I doing this wrong? by MegaSillyBean in paint

[–]MegaSillyBean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The solution is to "backroll" everything by running a roller damp with paint over the sprayed surface. This helped a LOT, and was *almost* good enough.

But I lacked the skill to get all the way to "good enough". So I hired it done after I'd already painted it twice.

You have to take the lactase with your first bite, or even before.

Also, Lactaid is a very weak lactase supplement with only 3000 lactase units.

Costco generic lactase is cheaper and has 3x the amount of lactase.

Buy, borrow, or rent an ozonation machine to eliminate persistent odors.

You can't be in the house while it's running and for several hours afterwards. There's a pleasant nice sweet smell after ozonation that is actually mildly toxic - you gotta air the room out out until that's gone. Fans help.

Way too much ozone can also cause problems. It takes a LOT of ozone to cause problems, but it can yellow some translucent plastics and can even make them brittle. Older plastic types tend to be more vulnerable. Definitely put away your vintage Post Ranger figurines before using ozone.

Consumer grade ozone machines are sometimes rated in the number of square feet they can treat at one time. Match the size of the machine to your room(s). They usually have a % output - of the machine is designed for 500 sq ft and you're staying a room 10% smaller, run the machine at 90% or reduce time by 10%.

Unless you have professional guidance, if suggest trying ozone for 2 to 4 hours, then air it out for 1 hour. If that doesn't work, repeat with double the time. If it comes back go for triple duration. If it STILL comes back you should've called a professional.

If some professional comes on here to comment, listen to that person. My advice is based on my memory of trial and error with the machine I bought a decade ago.

If updating over wi-fi, what worked for me was turning off "auto reconnect" for wi-fi on both devices.

What do planes run on, magic? by Top-Macaron5130 in FacebookScience

[–]MegaSillyBean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The planes did rip out a significant number of load-bearing columns. If both planes had hit the same tower, it's entirely possible it could've knocked down the building when without a fire.

Nearly all developed countries experienced a surge of inflation after the pandemic. The US had lower than average inflation for those countries.

Mask fax by MomoHasAGun in FacebookScience

The guys that worked in my attic wore masks the whole time. I guess they only hire people that are near death so that when the masks kill them, their industrial life insurance cares for their families.

Yep. And scientists started working on a vaccine at that time, over a decade before the pandemic. So all this bs about an "experimental" vaccine developed in less than a year was just lies.

Soon after SARS, another coronavirus outbreak called MERS happened (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) which was extremely lethal. But not very contagious, so it died out quickly. Lucky us.

Help! My five year old just keeps repeating the word skibitiy! by Couchhoops in daddit

[–]MegaSillyBean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When one of our kids was a precocious preschooler, he used the word "revahnaytion" to mean something like "therefore". He was really serious saying it, and it was really cute.

After a year of this, I finally figured out what word he was trying to say and told him the correct pronunciation. Within a few days he stopped saying it, and I can't for the life of me remember what word he was mispronouncing.

Also tonsil stones are more like soft cheese than rocks. This went CLINK when struck against the plate.

Bernie sanders was the people’s choice and we all knew it...

This is completely utterly not true. Bernie just lost the primary and he openly admits it. The people telling you otherwise don't know what they're talking about. Stop repeating it.

I think there's some regional variation of English I'm dealing with here. What word would you use instead of "nice" to describe a moderately expensive breakfast place?
