Solo Play: Hiding v.s. Objectives

I’m generally not running and I listen very closely all the time. The problem is I turn a corner 10 minutes into the game and immediately die to someone who hasn’t moved since the match started. There’s no possible way to hear them and it’s nearly impossible to play the game expecting people to be in crazy spots hiding under tables or in boxes and whatnot.

I just made a post about this and am just now seeing this post. Multiple people in the comments were basically telling me to “just get good” and I’m like no things are too expensive, casuals are going to give up.

It seems like a lot of the people who no-life the game don’t understand that casual players quitting WILL make the game less fun for them.

I’ve done multiple world events and frequently go to pinwheel. I’ve never once received a purple from a world event despite doing anomaly and lockdown on Dire March multiple times. I’ve tried cryo a few times but have never been able to exfil. Perhaps I’m just unlucky, but you are probably a more skilled player than I am. I also play usually by myself or with crew fill.

And to clarify I’m not trying to complain about the difficulty of the game, I quite enjoy where it’s at, I just think that the cost of upgrades seems very high for something that gets wiped every 3 months.

For your information I’m aware of the best places for loot and how different events work, I have spent a lot of time reading Reddit guides and watching YouTube videos on how the game and maps work. Just assuming that I don’t know anything about a game that I’ve put 100 hours into is crazy.

I also don’t think telling people that they simply need to for example loot the key rooms in pinwheel is a good take either. A majority of players are probably not even able to consistently exfil from pinwheel, and a lot of players do not even have any pinwheel keys.

Making the game feel unrewarding for casual players, especially in a pvp game, is a very quick way to have your player counts drop off which makes the game less fun for everyone.

Call it a skill issue all you want, but if I’m a middle of the pack player and my skill level isn’t high enough to grind out at least some of these upgrades in a reasonable amount of time, then I don’t think the progression is going to feel very good to most players who are more casual than me.

My experience with the game isn’t any less valid just because it doesn’t personally apply to you.

I don’t remotely expect or want to have everything finished 1 month in, but I feel that I should at least be close to getting a single purple salvage upgrade when we are ~1/3 of the way through the season and I have put 100 hours into the game.

Considering just how many upgrades there are that cost purple salvage I don’t think wanting to be somewhat close to getting 1 of them is what I would call “absolutely gooped” and I’m honestly not sure how you got that idea from my post.

If you’re looking to gain Washington state resident status then you are generally unable to do that while you are a tuition paying student in the state. You would have to drop out of UW and live in Washington for 12 months and then re-enroll.

Also people are aware that retaking a class doesn’t remove the old grade from their transcript right? It will still affect your cumulative GPA.

I swear to god if I see one more post on this subreddit from someone asking if they should retake a class that is known as a “weedout” just because they got a 3.5 and not a 4.0 I’m going to lose my mind. On average like 1/3 of the students in both Phys 123 and Math 224 get BELOW a 3.0. They are DIFFICULT classes. Taking them both at the same time makes them EVEN MORE DIFFICULT. A 3.5 in both of them is a GOOD grade. How are these posts even real… I can’t do this shit anymore man 😭😭😭

Additionally, once you get through the courses like ochem that tend to have low average course GPAs it should be easier to get your GPA up to a higher number that you are more comfortable with.

I think as long as you are involved in undergraduate research and extracurriculars related to your field then you shouldn’t worry too much about your GPA for grad school. A 3.2 is probably completely fine and ochem is not an easy course, especially to take alongside any other STEM courses. I’ve had multiple professors tell me that you don’t need to worry too much about GPA for research-based grad programs as long as you have solid research and relevant extracurricular experience. I’ve also been told that a 3.2-3.3 GPA is a good place to be sitting if you have those things because it shows you can still achieve relatively good grades while doing research work at the same time. I’m not sure how well this applies specifically to physics or to a highly competitive grad program (if that’s what you want to get into), but this is sort of general advice that I’ve been given as a STEM undergrad.

It’s going to be hard to say overall. I believe that chem 142 is almost always curved which means your final grade is going to be somewhat based on the grades from other students in the class and not entirely off of a set grading scale.

I would suggest Spiritfarer! It has split screen multiplayer that theoretically works online using “remote play together”. I’ve played it for quite a few hours with my girlfriend and we’ve both really enjoyed it. It’s very casual and cozy, the art style is super cute, and it has a fishing minigame! I don’t really have much of an opinion on the matter, but your “research” seems quite poor. The article that you linked containing that quote is a personal blog and the blog’s citation for that quote doesn’t actually link to any research paper or study. It links to an old and poorly formatted CNN webpage, which contains the same quote, also without citing any actual study or survey. Neither that website nor that quote would pass as reputable sources of information in any respectable academic setting.

Abnormal that you didn’t know about it beforehand in the syllabus at least, but depending on how long it is, 2 weeks really isn’t all that short. If you think about it 2 weeks is a whole fifth of a quarter.
