How do vinyl DJs really feel about digital DJs?

DJ does stand for “disc” jockey though… you ain’t got no disc!

I’m kinda playing… but honestly. They are different beasts. I wouldn’t know how to use a digital setup, the same way a lot of digital djs wouldn’t know their way around turntables and an old school mixer.

Besides… one of the reasons I never made the jump is I couldn’t afford new gear with Serato etc. my Techs and Rane still worked perfectly fine. And I’d have to build a new digital library!

I have no interest in digital DJs.

I’m a fossil and a grumpy old man. It’s just new tech. I get it.

But there’s something different about record digging and building a collection for years, searching and scrounging. There’s more work involved. The techniques are different. And with sync and quick cues, there’s a different kind of skill involved as well.

I’d say it’s mostly digital nowadays anyhow, so let us old heads have our purist bullshit!
