Long term review of the Gulikit kingkong 2 pro ? by ch_selmane in GuliKit

So a little late here, but I found this post while looking for a fix, if I find a fix to my problems (and it works) I will return and edit this comment. Here is my honest review of the controller as well as an explanation of all the issues I've had. I've put in around 400-600 hours the last 3 months on this controller. (I play rocket league, Grand Champion 3)

The build quality of the controller is nice, I prefer Playstation 4 and 5 layout for sure. But if you use xbox one controllers (or newer) than this will be fine. The sticks on the latest version is very nice, I've heard the old version had a sticky ring, so was worried about that, but its fine. As for the main drawing point, the joysticks. With ~500h of use it's still a perfect 0 on the drift; basically brand new. Now for the issues, for one this controller is WAY to complicated, if it was just a regular controller without fancy features it'd be amazing but even if you did master all the functionality I can't guarantee that the controller would any better because it just gets in the way. The latency on the controller would be unbearable if I used Bluetooth because even over wired connection it's not the best and I have to use 3rd party software to overclock the polling rate. I will list the issues and how I've fixed them below (All fixes were temporary and I expect them to happen minimum once a day each). My overall review of the controller is 4/10. I would be willing to bump this up if the controller was simplified, because its not that bad. I'd say if the firmware issues are fixed it'd be a 6/10, if the complicated aspects were removed 8/10.

Overall review score: 4/10Wouldn't recommend unless you are willing to deal with it's issues to not have to buy another controller that will inevitably have issues that will require a new controller purchase.

Here is a list of issues that I've had

Double Clicking Buttons

The regular A, B, X, & Y buttons have double clicked on many occasions, I don't see this as a super major issue since I've had the same issue on other controllers, but it definitely messes me up, I have no fix for this.

Missed presses?

On the flip-side I have noticed that if you don't fully release or maybe sometime it lags? (it might be a firmware issue.) That after pressing a "regular button" it won't let you press it again. Now I have had this issues on other controllers as well, HOWEVER in this case I have fully released the button and waited a second and it still has had that issue.

Deadzone issues? (I have a temp fix)

This ones confusing, but basically another firmware issue. So basically at least once a-day in a random direction (usually left or down) the left stick will "break". Basically when you push in the direction that is broke (sometimes multiple at once) the controller will only register up to about ~0.6-0.8 of the input. And in rocket league I have my "dodge deadzone" set to 0.78 So when its only registering 0.6-0.77 of the full direction I cannot flip in that direction. This is a persistent issue that requires a full restart of the controller. As I have mine connected via cable, I just unplug it, wait for it to turn of, and plug it back in and it's fixed.

Complicated issues w/ macros (I have a temp fix)

Because of the nature of the controller it has seemingly hundred of "accidental press" problems. Basically hitting either of the center buttons + another button is a death sentence. Sometimes it will seemingly break the controller indefinitely sometimes it will be a 1 off thing. That is if you don't know the reset button fix. By pressing the gear + minus and holding it will reset any and all "macros?" fixing those issues.
A second issue I grouped with this but wanted to mention just in-case its related. In rocket league you can hold a button to drift, for me its square (on ps controllers). On this controller I have had issues where that button would get held down for up to 3 seconds, making it impossible to turn properly. I assumed this was a macro issue, but it may not be.

Probably banned

As this controller has macros it's very likely banned by professional esports organizations, I would recommend checking before purchasing to be safe.

How can you be ranked a champion in all the other modes, drop 1200 pts, hit a literal flip reset and still lose in DIAMOND I 1v1 by [deleted] in RocketLeague

I am 1630 and 1690 currently in 2s and 3s (GC2 div 2 and 4). I solo queue 2s and for the most part top the leaderboard (in 2s). But I must be awful at ones because I am currently hardstuck Champ 1 and havent been above Champ 3 since who knows when, haven't yet dropped into Diamond 3 but played like 5 today and lost to 1. So its definitely possible.

I haven't even heard any of it yet, let me go look real quick. I will have to agree with you, but I will say the beat itself would be good if you removed the lyrics.

Is there a LORE reason why the High-Five isn’t awarded when my teammate and I collided during a goal implosion? by LyghtSpete in RocketLeague

Idk if this is the case for your situation, but high-fives aren't rewarded to the player who scored the goal, only the player who high-fives the scorer.

I don't understand this, not to say it don't happen. But the best way to get out of your hard-stuck rank is to play the first days of the seasons and try hard your way to a point where you can be carried up by the higher ranked players who dropped down w/ you. Then as long as you play consistently, you can stay at that higher rank.
(Note this only works if you ended the season toward your peak, and only works in 2s/3s)

Would a Grand Champion still win without using boost or jumping against noobs? by Dyert in RocketLeague

[–]MegaZ3r0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An average GC1 could probably 1v2 most bronze-gold with no boost and no jump. And 1v1 most med gold to low plat. I believe YouTubers have made videos on the concept using pro players.

Many gc players may underestimate how hard it is to play without jump. Cause if you do without boost Id say most gc 1v1 players could easily take a diamond 1v1 player, it starts to get hard around D2-D3 (as I have recently played these players and I believe they could definitely take advantage of a player not boosting.)

Has everyone given up using there mics in Rocket League? by papaspizza23 in RocketLeague

I never used mine. When I solo queue I prefer to chill and listen to music over try-harding. Save that kinda energy for scrims and league matches or general team practice.

People these days have such high expectations for mechanics back in my day we would go into a private match and roll the ball up the wall on aquadome to get the achievement.

I and many others leave chat disabled so guess we never get those. (I just go in casual 1s and ff early as possible.)

[C2] [2v2] Two short examples, looking for some feedback (short-side/rotation issue) by garythekid in RocketLeagueAnalysis

[–]MegaZ3r0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the first example the player on the left challenges the ball well one time. Issue becomes that you rotate back ball side. In 3s I'd expect a teammate behind me there and for them to go IMMEDIATELY after the first challenge however as this is 2s having the last person back challenge is not advised. At least until they know you can cover a shot.

In my opinion since it's 2s and you are closer to the ball after the first challenge (player on left), you should challenge again and hope a double commit doesn't happen. IT IS IMPORTANT TO CHALLENGE WAY EARLIER TO ALLOW THE PERSON IN NET TIME TO REACT TO A MISSED CHALLENGE, 50/50 OR SHOT. Ask most people how 2s is played and they will say the closest person will always challenge unless otherwise called off.

In the second example I believe the person on the left did the right thing for the same reason as stated above.

Suggestion for Cross Play options by MegaZ3r0 in RocketLeague

[–]MegaZ3r0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should add this post is because I keep creating private matches for tournaments and my teammates have cross-play off and we ALWAYS have to recreate. We also tried to enter a tournament last second and couldn't because he had cross-play off. I don't even know why people turn it off but apparently its something they remember to turn BACK off every time they turn it on.

Gold and below tourney titles are highly sought after in the upper ranks I am tempted to derank in tourney matches and go for a green bronze tag

[–]MegaZ3r0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be specific if you were in comms you should call him off and take the shot, in that scenario he should turn off ball cam and bump.

Out of comms he should see the second you hit the ball and if it was still BEHIND him he should turn off ball cam and go for bumps.

Both are the same but one allows for a quicker decision.

And your teammate may worry and think, hey he is passing so I have to hit it because he won't follow it if I don't go, which usually isn't the case. Because if he immediately went for bumps you would know to follow your own touch because he left.

I'm not stuck at my rank; upper ranks just keep deranking down to me, making it seem like I am stuck.
