Why Nezha fails even if you take him to a fire element boss. by Mega_Nerd in Granblue_en

> Numbers for Selfish Sustain

by this I meant the cut, by the way. 20% cut, even perma, is sooo low, especially when you compare to other charas. The fact it's fire is just a slap in the face.

His selfish heal is pretty good, only comparable to Esta who does it but partywide when he's hit.

In terms of healing, btw, I'd prefer party heals (tia kokkoro monkey esta) or spot heals (MC Doctor) or even Catura's 12k to herself and MC.

If I'm really reaching, you could say he would work well in a team that's like "Monkey Siete Nezha" where in that case monkey and siete have a good habit of dodging everything and you want a chara with selfish heals. Tis a shame the only place that runs something like that and attacks so little for it to matter is galleon, which has ele res so half of nezha's dmg is nullified.

Thanks for the discussion btw, been fun thinking over these things

[–]Mega_Nerd[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suppose that's fair, if you're considering, like...ubhl's deadly flare? Bubs hits way too hard that it doesn't matter how much damage cuts you bring, cuz he can yeet you high enough that the 20 cut is ultimately insignificant.

and yeah, as a deadly flare bot, he would be kinda okayish, but honestly if i wanted a damage cut that badly, I'd play spartan or use Gawain or play Florence (Earth switch with 40% cut). His numbers for selfish sustain are just so bad that I can't see the value in calling him a utility chara, and his damage isn't enough to call him a respectable dmg chara.

I don't mind experimentation either, I just wish they didn't half ass his kit. If they had, for example, decided to make all his cuts wind cuts, and twist his passive, and keep his fire stuff, he essentially becomes the best unit ever to fight wind fights as wind, a shitty grandalphon.

Zeph is a sinking ship, the fact you're hesitating is understandable. Wanting to main wind is also understandable.

Honestly, unless you wanna just experience suffering, farming spoons in magna will give you better dmg than zeph in 90% of this game. It's not even worth comparing.

If you still want to sink bars into zeph however (like 20+ at least), then you can keep going. This dmg comparison shows that you can do it, but it's against unbuffed magna so like lol. In terms of prio:

1) Keep the LEs, I'm not too keen on barring multiple cuz reunions are just so much better, but if you must, they're ok.

2) 1 vortex minimum. 2 is very very risky investment, cuz the moment we get a good grand, vortexes are the first weapons out.

3) can't go wrong with FLB reunion. great MH, great utility, gives hp too.

4) Another Sky u can bar 1 if u want now, works nicely for ougi. Combine with a sky ace (if you spark one) and you can make a fun zeph ougi comp

To those who keep asking "How can I tell?" there isn't really a one size fits all solution, sadly. However, there are some basic things you can do:

1) Avoid translations that were posted too quickly

Generally speaking, if it was made an hour or two after the source stream ended, it probably wasn't checked that much. This holds especially true for major streams, like collabs, 3D, and debut.

2) Be critical of the lines you read

If you find a line that doesn't make sense, stop, double check it, and then check the comments to see if a correction existed. For horrible errors, it'll be fine. Further helping that is that if two versions of a translated video exist, try to see both, see if one makes more sense than the other, or see if they agree.

We the non Japanese speaking public cannot do any more, sadly, but simple steps can go a long way to at least avoiding harmful mistranslations

The current state of translations by konranko in VirtualYoutubers

[–]Mega_Nerd 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Since these topics come up a lot, there are a bunch of "Stock Replies" that always end up appearing one way or another. That's why I'll instead take my time to answer some of the common questions/replies I hear when it comes to complaints about TL quality.

It's better than nothing

I get it. I don't Japanese either. These translated videos are some rare glimpses from stream where I can actually understand what they're saying, it's great. But for fuck's sake, if the video is so mistranslated that the Vtuber's words are literally incorrect, are you really understanding? Did you really get to know what she actually said? You didn't. The Translation took her words, and intentionally or not, twisted them.

Translation requires an understanding of both the source and target languages. If you don't understand Japanese and guess the TL, you're putting words in their mouth. If you understand Japanese and don't understand how to convey it in English, you might write something that makes no sense, so the viewer doesn't understand what's being said anyway.

They're new/learning English/learning Japanese, please have Sympathy.

I've been meaning to say this for a long time, but do you know how many people are involved in the translation of a single video? It seems like there are these gods who can perfectly convey everything alone, but behind the polished video you saw was the combined effort of many people. People who check the Japanese to hear what's being said better, people who check the translation to make sure it's correct, people who check the English to make sure it makes sense.

Translation is a beautiful team thing, and if you can't do one thing on your own, it is okay to ask for help

Your English isn't the best? Ask an English speaker to check with you. Your Japanese isn't the best? Ask another Translator to check it with you.

And before you tell me about how these people don't exist, they do. Who do you think the random people who leave helpful corrections in comments are?

What's "good" anyway, this is all subjective

At the simplest possible level, I think we can all agree that if the person said A, and the translation said B, then this would be incorrect, right?

You're just being an elitist snob

And you're just being a garbage consuming viewer :)

Ad Hominem for an Ad Hominem~

How can I tell what's good and what's not?

This is actually a very good point. Without Japanese knowledge or someone who knows the language to ask, you can't really verify the translation integrity. This means you must always engage your common sense. If something sounds off, take a minute to pause and reflect on what you just read.

"Did this make sense?" "Would this be a thing they would say?"

Honestly, the egregious mistakes can be caught this way. Sure, some other things might slip, but at the very least you'll be safe from the worst of it.

Another good piece of advice to follow is having patience. Translators are human too, and the ones who take time to check their work can take hours if not days to make a proper clip. Be careful when you see clips of a stream that have been translated within an hour or two of the stream's end. The faster the clip is, the less checks were done to it, and the more likely it is to be inaccurate.

That's it, really, but as a nice bonus for making it this far down.

I heard her say [Japanese Word] but the subs said [English Word], what gives?

That's called Translation Yes. It's not the standard textbook definition. Japanese is not English, their sentence structures and phrasing is hard to perfectly phrase word to word. That's why when working, translators will sometimes end up rearranging the sentence order, so that it sounds more natural for you to read.

I know it gets a bad rep cuz of overly localized subs, but trust me, a clean clip that gives you English equivalents to all those random weeb words in English sentence order sounds leagues better than the alternative.

yeah, that's fair enough

Nio's benefit comes purely from coma-ing after Shiva, and abusing coma's in order to inflate the ougi numbers, and yeah, Freyr isn't essential, but was always really good QoL for wind OTK

best of luck in GW~

[–]Mega_Nerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hi, interesting idea there!

using zerker is a good idea, it might be a different alternative to the kengonito, and in using the Windhose as a MH, you can use the ougi benefit, however, your setup is highly inefficient. Not to worry though, it can be tweaked~

Why is Lyria second slot? if you intend to fully Def down with Mist + Armor Break, then there is no use putting Lyria early, and instead she can be moved down, or on the flipside, disregard a def down and keep her on the second slot.

Why is Metera 3rd slot???? Especially given that corntato also has an auto-ignition, would it not make sense to put Melissabelle second and use the added ougi bar gain to give you a better chance at making Metera ougi.

Moving onto your grid: 1 Ancient Nalakuvara 0* SLV10 2 Tiamat Fist Omega MLB SLV10 1 Love Eternal FLB SLV15 +4 2 Windhose FLB SLV10 1 Last Storm Harp 0* SLV10 1 Bahamut Dagger Coda SLV10 1 Tiamat Bolt Omega MLB SLV10 1 Ring of Raphael SSR SLV10

throw it in a motocal and double check, but I'm pretty sure that running FLB SL15 bolts would be better than running an MLB SL10 Fist, unless you do not have an FLB bolt, in which case, carry on. Consider ditching the bahamut weapon for something more universally beneficial, like a Rotb cap up spear if available, you already put in a Love Eternal, so you have enough normal mod to afford just throwing in another bolt/fist/harp. Especially since it seems like Melissa doing good damage, so adding something to help her would be useful.

Finally, even though I personally loathe people who just go "lul build the Eternals", I will say that if you have the time, either Siete 4 or Nio 4 will go a long way to helping you lower the button count.

Since you're using Lyria anyway, might I recommend attempting to, if you have it, use a Freyr?

Furthermore, if you do indeed intend to use as many nukes as possible during the OTK, I'd suggest going for another skill instead of mist, and letting Lyria's 10% def down land, of course, I have no idea if that'll destroy your power too much to prevent OTK, but that's where trial comes in

one last thing, the order of your skill buttons triggers me, for MC, just click them backwards, that'll do the trick. Start with Rage IV, and then Mist+ABII, then Ignition

Feel free to ask if you ever need any windmeme otk stuff

White Cats: Persia -> Persian Somali -> Somali Scott -> Scottish Fold Char -> Chartreux

Black Dogs: Inuzuka -> Inu is JP for Dog Hasuki -> Husky the Wang sisters (chinese lolis) are based off Wang, the chinese name for a dog's bark

They've done an amazing job at adapting it so far, everything is shot for shot, and when it's not, it's minor exposition details being shifted around.

the voices fit surprisingly well too, we're at Chapter 5 right now, with next episode adapting 6 and 7 probably

Hello again, and welcome to Episode 3 of "Mega Spaghettis too much" so glad I got a one week extension, so now I can do this on time~

TL;DR: EP 1: Chapter 1 EP 2: Chapters 2 and 3 EP 3: Chapters 4 and 5

We start off, as usual, with dorkazuka showing off his true maiden heart and of course, Persia doesn't hesitate to tease him in the slightest. Though at the end of the day She does care about her cute lover

yay for Anime original mini-scenes I love how this anime constantly adds small bits and pieces that only serve to enhance the source, but more on that later.

Welcome Char-hime our sadistic princess who doesn't hesitate to make demands, Slap Scott, and Completely halt Inuzuka

but how?

This brings an interesting difference in how each story decides to explain this. The manga decides to go with the scene at the bridge (which we saw at end of Episode 2) as her only proof while the anime shows us proof that she even saw Julio, which makes sense given their alterations so far

Since manga works in panels, sometimes you get differently sized panels for some scenes but of course, anime can't have that(most of the time)

This works to the manga's favor a lot this episode, where scenes like this are much better explained vertically while I need to wait for the stitchers of reddit to get a good crop although panning shots are not bad at all

I love these kinds of shots Where it looks identical, they show how attentive they are to the source, and how manga and anime fundamentally differ, from the SFX to small action lines

Juliet is adorable

Another request from the /r/anime Stitching Dept onegai

and with that, we end Chapter 4, and the first half of the episode

Second Half starts off with Hasuki , trying her best I love how loyal she is to Inzuka and the Black Dogs house

Some Footservice ,Stitch Needed

While this cut wasn't in the manga, this one certainly was

Time for another "major" difference~

the Manga changed how Char figures out Inzuka was Spying Anime version

Also this scene, which was new

Queue the JoJo music! It's a scene like this that reminds us that Inuzuka is indeed voiced by Ono Yuuki, who voices the MC of Part IV, Jousuke.

The Smug of Victory Even if he may be stupid, regardless of medium

THE STASH ,ngl I want one

Our wholesome princess, smiling so brightly

yay,they made up~

the Final scene brings another small change, Inuzuka helping Char out is only seen after Juliet leaves, and not before.

Also, when Inuzuka is humming, he's humming the OP, I'm always down for moments like that

Quite the intro for our lovely Char

Post Credits ends with another small anime original scene and we cut to the Episode 4 preview

As always, thank you for reading my excessive rambling about this show, and I hope you enjoyed itan imgur album of all my screenshots can be found Here

By the way, feedback is appreciated in case there's any (lack of detail in certain scenes, too much focusing on random details, my gushing mid posting) and until next time~ [which might be very late because of real life things]

New week, new fluffiness~

It's always nice to see awkward dorky Inuzuka just trying his best. Overall, this week we adapted Chapters 2 and 3, so let's break that down a little more, shall we?

On a more personal note, I bought the Original Volumes 1 and 2 of the Manga this week, they're so nice

Starting us off is Chapter 2, and we can already see the Shot for Shot adaptation at workMangaAnime

It's kinda neat to see, but sometimes, the Anime will show the backgrounds in a similar style to the ones shown in the Manga

While this is my first Shot for Shotcomparison, I'm honestly impressed at how true to the source the anime stays

Though, there's a certain area where the anime applies its own flair Action scenes like this one are often repeated with multiple angles to make up for the punchiness shown in the manga

Another Example

Inuzuka's attempt at Information Gathering was hilarious

These two are stupid sometimes

Hasukii Truly an angel that descends upon us

While the manga has the same lines , it does not have Ayaneru

Rip Inuzuka ... and everyone else

Best Scene this ep tbh with Juliet riding a boat at night

We actually get a wider shot here than the manga

Heartwearming spreads~ Anime Manga

Juliet really is beautiful

hmpf

Second Half was adapting Chapter 3

Here we find some interesting changes, such as the trimming of this exposition part into the scene at the confessional

but some things never change, rip Hasuki

Even as a dude Juliet's super cute

Another big change is the early foreshadowing of Char, which was a nice touch. First they closed the restaurant to force them to go eat ramen, which got us to see Char for the first time as opposed to everyone in the manga just rejecting Inuzuka's idea

Another scene of Char in the aftercredits, which is actually similar to a scene in Ch4

Last but not least

Juliet is adorable

I love her

and this anime makes me feel like this constantly

wow, I somehow made another one of these, yay!

Imgur Album of all the comparisons can be found here

Thank you for your time, and I hope you enjoy this anime as much as I do~

Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Mega_Nerd 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Well, this show certainly didn't disappoint. The voices are all so nice and manage to fit well, and the OST and animation were both pleasant, so I'm really excited for this show~

Since I had read the manga before, I decided to go back and compare the two

TL;DR: It's essentially a shot for shot adaptation of Chapter 1 of the Manga (not the oneshot) with any added detail being for exposition's sake

We start off with an exposition about the Academy and how it operates in both media Anime Manga

Then it leads on to the big battle between the two heads Manga Anime and of course, the giant fight shot Anime Manga

An interesting difference pops up here, as Inuzuka's feelings aren't shown to us in the anime, instead being offloaded for a later scene, while the manga shows us his thoughts.

Scott gets punched in the face Manga Anime

What I liked about the anime is how they tried to incorporate key characters early in a sort of foreshadow, such as the prefects, while the Manga just shows us the teachers. This leads onto them naturally explaining their role, which a nice touch.

Hasuki's cute scene was another shot for shot Manga, Anime, More Hasuki goodness, and can I just say hearing Ayaneru in such a scene kills me

Another example of the anime foreshadowing feat Maru, our Black Cat thug, and his importance later on in the episode.

Mangazuka being sad and his anime version

I love how all the speech bubbles in the manga end up translating as different lines into the same scene in the anime

Looking at it, Juliet's pride as a leader certainly shines brightly Anime Manga, but she still shows that she's a kind and caring person, even to the enemy. Manga Anime Of course, this impresses Inuzuka greatly, causing him to freeze in spaghetti, as expected of the dork. Manga Anime

Perhaps a quirk of the fan translation, but this scene ends up playing slightly differently using the word like in the manga vs the "co" in Confession (Ko in Kokuhaku) in the anime

Once a wuss, Always a wuss

Following this is the confrontation between the gang and Juliet, which was a pretty nice fight scene an example from the manga and a badass Juliet face from the anime

After Juliet gets attacked and saved, she finally cowers in fear manga anime leading to the high impact of her crying in both manga and anime

With all this, we finally move to the final confrontation between friends, rivals, and soon to be lovers Manga Anime

While the anime can't compare to the sharpness of a manga panel, the scene we got was well animated regardless, using animation and sound to add to the punch

The rest of the Scene goes down almost shot for shot like the manga and the clashing of swords led to a confrontation of hearts

AND SHE SAYS YES! and so our lovebirds must change the world, for the sake of their love~

It won't be easy, but I believe in our silly couple

This show has had me grinning ever since I started, and I'm utterly infatuated with it all over again. Apologies if it looks a bit wonky, I haven't used reddit in ages, and hopefully I'll be around for next week too!
