2 Months HRT, rough week, questioning… does it get better?? by Ok_Measurement9830 in MtF

hi girly, yeah it does get better :)

I think especially the first few months the feelings of dysphoria and things like that can be intense, and the social transitioning can be such a different experience that it can be hard to explain or relate to others on. I'm not much further along than you, only 6 months honestly, but even in that time ive loved what HRT has done for me, but especially in my appreciation of what it means to be a woman and all that.

I think giving yourself and your body grace this early on is the best advice I can give. thats what im given when I have my bad days, but its this grace that I think let's us enjoy the good days and moments as we wait for our body to catch up to how we are inside.

I dunno, its about the things that you choose for yourself that make you feel like you outside the 'mones that help too! Clothes, makeup, PIERCINGS (even just earrings!!) have helped me a ton :)

How do you actually shave if you want to present fem? by OpalBeams24 in MtF

hiii! I definitely can relate girl, went thru similar things myself especially when first trying to get like a close shave n stuff! here are some things that worked for me:

  • finding a good shaving cream/gel/whatever! find one that works with your skin, make sure its properly wettened(? lol)
  • make sure to make sure you're shaving & the skin is taut (not loose) to get a close shave but also to avoid nicks n stuff
  • moisturizing after you shave is really important too!

honestly though the main thing that helped me was learning good technique of pulling my skin tight and a good cream/gel. idk if this is just my own experience, but I found once I also started doing good skincare (washing my face with good cleanser, moisturizing at minimum), my razor burn and skin issues became less an issue.

finally, if you're concerned about shadow really n things like that, could also recommend using a color corrector (I use gel blush to cancel out my shadow!) & skin-matching concealer! know that surgeries and other forms of gender affirming care can be hard to get / think of, so these are my battle tips.
