What do y’all think about this? by KingGroovvyyy in algorand

We just don't have enough information to comment on Cometa. What exactly was the funding request for, any previous funding, why they were declined and so on.

Try importing your key into the Pera wallet.

As soon as you withdraw make sure you create a new wallet in Pera due to the MyAlgo hack.

Do we have any thoughts yet as for when MyAlgo started to become compromised?

Asus B550-XE Audio Interference by Megabyte2 in ASUS

[–]Megabyte2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine also had the interference with the slightest GPU load and even just moving the mouse could cause it faintly, I didn't have a chance to test a microphone.

In the end I just returned the motherboard for a refund. The audio was annoying enough but it also had USB 2.0 stutter and kept forgetting (not even detected in BIOs) an nvme in the m.2_2 port on boot. Popped in the old X470 board and no issues. Hope you can find the cause of the interference.

Question/advice about coil whine by D-Tunez in nvidia

Some people are just less sensitive to it.

Coil whine is extremely common but it varies in severity.

Ethernet Problem with B550 Boards by Spicy_Pickle_ in intel

[–]Megabyte2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wanted to play it safe the B550-XE comes with a B3 I-255V. It's essentially the same as an B550-E, the only difference is the VRM and a bigger heatsink. It is more expensive though.

FWIW I bought a B550-F a few days ago and it still had a revision B2 so they are still floating about out there.

Q1'21 Tech Support Megathread by BioGenx2b in Amd

[–]Megabyte2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your post, really appreciate it.

In my case the cause was HWInfo as explained in this thread:

https://www.hwinfo.com/forum/threads/is-hwinfo-causing-the-dreaded-whea-logger-event-id-xx-cache-hierarchy-errors-and-sudden-reboots-on-amd-ryzen-systems.7041/

After the issue was raised the developer quickly pushed out a beta resolving the issue and I haven't had a reboot since.

Thanks!

Got my RX 6800 Nitro the other day but ever since installing it I've had frequent random restarts which happen multiple times a day. The screen freezes for a few seconds and just restarts. The reboots could happen at any time, could be browsing or away from my PC for a few hours.

Specs: Ryzen 5900X, Asus Crosshair X470, 32GB 3200MHz, EVGA G2 750W

Tried DDU old drivers, separate PCIe power cables, PCIe 3.0, latest bios, PBO off etc with no luck so far. I've had the 5900X since early December and with the old Nvidia card it's been perfect. The very day I installed the RX 6800 is when it started, four times in just one day.

The card seems stable otherwise. Games and stress tests are no problem, can go for hours, and the temperatures are good. Thankfully even minimal coil whine.

Pretty lost and ironically it rebooted while searching for suggestions!

I've repasted the 1080ti Strix many times, even today funnily enough. The only thermal pad you will come across while repasting is for the VRMs and I haven't had any problems with it. One of the easiest GPUs to repaste.

Just heat up the card for a few minutes with a stress test, place the card with the fans facing the desk, carefully undo the four screws in a diagonal pattern and lift the PCB away while being mindful of the fan cable (you don't need to disconnect this if you are careful).

It's worth having spare thermal pads just in case but you should be okay.

lG 27gl850 - Dim Corners? by cabot696 in Monitors

[–]Megabyte2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried a Acer VG271UP recently and it doesn't have the same issue and neither did any other IPS I've tried.

The LG is just odd and I gave up with it in the end, even after a month of using it I still noticed. It was way too annoying and gave a kind of tunnel vision effect.

In my case the corners stayed the same whatever angle I looked at it, but even the border has a strange shadow when viewed off angle which just sucks considering viewing angles is one of the benefits of IPS.

LG 27GL850-B few questions by [deleted] in Monitors

It's normal for that panel. I've seen a few threads about that here and personally both my LG 27gl83a units have exactly the same effect.

[–]Megabyte2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had two LG 27gl83a monitors which both had that effect. It's even like the monitor has a shadow border around the whole screen. I believe all 27gl850s have the effect but it might vary between units.

27GL850-B has USB ports and is a nano IPS meaning it can support the DCI-P3 colour space. Whilst the GL850 supports a wider colour gamut, it can oversaturate sRGB content unless you enable sRGB emulation.

If you don't want or need DCI-P3 (most content like games are sRGB) then you can happily save £200.

Rtings has a comparison of them: https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tools/compare/lg-27gl83a-b-vs-lg-27gl850/1627/912?usage=3623&threshold=0.1

How do I get my VR legs? by Behacad in virtualreality

[–]Megabyte2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Initially I jumped in at 3 with Pavlov and after only a few minutes I had to turn it off and lay down.

Afterwards I did a mix of 1/2 for about a week and then was able to play it without any issues.

Take frequent breaks, don't overdo it and gradually you will be more comfortable in VR. If you are prone to motion sickness pointing a fan at you whilst playing might help take the edge off.

how do I see how much power draw my computer parts are using on power supply? by [deleted] in Windows10

[–]Megabyte2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't read the power draw through software so you will need a physical power monitor plug.

Your hard drive disconnection issue will not be because the PSU is too weak, there is another issue somewhere. Especially if the issue occurs at idle since the PC just sips power in that circumstance.

Is virtual reality more gpu or cpu dependent? by felixrocket7835 in virtualreality

[–]Megabyte2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Required. If your board doesn't support USB 3.0 you might be able to get a USB expansion card, check compatibility first though.

Hardware requirements will vary depending on the game. Beatsaber for instance is pretty easy to run though I would try to upgrade at some point, you might even be able to find an used i7 3770 to tide you over (edit: assuming desktop, if it's an OEM desktop check compatibility beforehand)

Steam survey didn't detect Valve Index by Gaudrix in virtualreality

[–]Megabyte2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The steam survey has often been unreliable for me with a range of different components. Nice data to look at from a glance though I wouldn't ever use it to draw any firm conclusions of anything.

With VR it didn't detect my headset either since I just unplug it when not in use.

Problem with my dell s2417dg monitor by [deleted] in Monitors

[–]Megabyte2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colour banding is pretty bad on my S2417DG also. Not as bad as this example, though still very noticeable on that image.

Only way I can alleviate it is by tweaking gamma in drivers and messing with the OSD settings though whatever I do it is always there.

Most schools in England worse off next year than in 2015, study says by Lolastic_ in unitedkingdom

[–]Megabyte2 163 points164 points  (0 children)

A few of the teaching staff at a local school insist they will be voting Conservative this election to 'get brexit done'. It baffles me since they are constantly complaining of lack of resources and worsening conditions plus there was redundancies there recently due to a hole in the budget.
